Brushing teeth for a longer time - Is good or bad?

December 29, 2008 11:56pm CST
I was told by my dentist to brush my teeth no longer than 2 minutes, as we lose enamal on teeth. But my husband tells that we should brush our teeth for more than 5 minutes. If we do so, our mouth will be cleaned from bacteria leaving fresh for whole day. Is it true? Can anyone suggest me correct way to brush teeth.

Hi, Brushing 5 minutes is good and please do not forget to brush your toungue gently too the (upper part) bacteria sometimes stays in that part and you rapidly get bad breath without brushing or cleaning your tounge. Happy my lotting

Mt dentist says 5 minutes or more. I have a timer that I set in the mornings and I brush for at least five minutes. I have tried without the timer but I misjudge the time by too much! LOL
