I would never allow my child to smoke because smoking is injurious to health. We have to educate our children about all the bad effects of smoking. We have also to give them good substitutes in life such as teach them the love of nature which will make their emotionsl health robust and thus, they would definitely keep away from such a dangerous thing like smoking.

As long as my children is living in my house, I will not allow them to smoke. There does come a time when they have to decide for themselves and hopefully they will make the right choice. I won't even let my son around someone that is smoking. It is extremely harmful and it is my job to protect him.

no and even though my oldest is 3 and my youngest is 18 months I have already started telling them how nasty it is and how glad I am that people are no longer allowed to smoke in public. Usually a child will start smoking if the parent smokes and my husband no longer smokes he stopped once we started trying to have our first and I never smoked. I hope they start making more laws to keep people from smoking around others. I like the one that parents can not smoke in the car with a child. What did that child ever do to that parent to make them want to give off second hand smoke to them. My SIL wonders why her daughter is so small and has respiratory problems. She smoked and was around smoke during her whole pregnancy and then she still smokes around her.

Most of parent wants the best for their kids including me. I will not allow my kids to do smoking as i know it has bad effect on health. Aside from teeth and gum's problem, it will harm the lungs. I want my kid to stay healthy and always alive. Instead of bringing him to smoking, i will encourage him to undergo on sports like basketball, tennis and other sport activities which helps him to stay strong and develop his skills.

Hi xtian. I hate somking and I hate smokers as well. I hate especially being a passive smoker:( I frown at guys smoking in public.
My never allow my bf to smoke and let alone my kid, not yet, in the future, lol. On the other hand, it's very hard to control, especially if the kid is a boy. Kids begin to smoke at high school and at that age, they think it's cool to smoke, making them more mature and like a man. Though it's silly, it's hard to make them realise how bad it's to smoke, bad for themselves and for others as well.

I really don't like the idea of my child smoking when he grows up. Of course he is only five right now. I know that when he grows up he might succumb to peer pressure but I am going to raise him to believe that smoking is no good.
I don't smoke but my husband does.

Can`t stop him/her from doing it, once he/she starts it, right?
But I would definitely like to talk about the dangers of smoking with my kids, and show how much it would mean to me if they would stay away from it.
Thats kinda all.

hell no!! forget about my kids, i, myself would now smoke!! well, i have been a passive smoker coz most of my pals smoke and as a matter of fact, i positively hate it!! i do not see the point of smoking.. if you like filling your lungs so much with smoke, then go stick your head in a chimney!!
Answering your questions, of course i would never let my kid smoke.. no way!! i would not have too much problem with light drinking, but smoking is out of the question!!

well of course not! however once my kid reaches 18 years old and not living in the same house as me, then she can decide for herself what she wants to do about smoking. i sincerely doubt if she will start smoking, but at 18yrs old that will be something she decides on her own. she knows that its bad for her health and all the other stuff about it lol!

I think that my children are smart enough to not go down that road. With all the information about smoking and the effects. I don't smoke and would never encourage my children to smoke. Regardless of the negative effects, people who smoke also stink!

Frankly I don't think my being obstinate will keep him from ever trying. Ofcourse I will warn him against doing so and tell him the negative effects of smoking inclding lung damage, black ugly lips and all that. I have a quality of making person hate something(or someone) enough to never even consider trying it(or him).
Anyways, beyond this, I think it will be the child's choice. Until he is 14, I can restrict him. But he will ultimately do what he wants to. I will try to teach him how to keep things straight in life so that he never faces stress or frustration(the two greatest causes for smoking). So I won't ground him for smoking.
Besides saying that I will stop him till 18 then let him do what he wants to is like saying as long ur responsibility, U be nice and after that i don't give a damn. Which is hyprocitic and irresponsible
So basically you know what I will do

I think that there are things that you can not control with your kids. I have 8 kids, I do not think that they should smoke. I know that 2 of them do smoke. They are 18 and 17. They live on their own now. They however have been told that they are not to smoke around us at all. When they come over for long periods of time then they will go for a walk if they decide to smoke.

If i could in any way prevent any one person from smoking i would. The thing is its not my choice to make. I hope that for my sons health he will never pick up on peer pressure and smoke. I tried it once. It was nasty. I don't see why anyone likes it. If my son or any future kids pick up on it i will try desperate measures to help them quit.
