Would you rather eat to your heart's content and be obese or diet and stay slim?

Some people are too lazy to diet or go on an exercise regimen and couldn't care less if they put on weight and became obese. Some are very conscious of their weight and at the slightest hint of gaining weight they start of on a strict diet and shed the excess kilos and start a rigourous regimen of exercise to shed the excess kilos. What woudl you rather do? diet and exercise regularly to stay fit or just let go and put on weight but eat to your heart's content?

I enjoy eating but I am also conscious about my health. If you live here, it is hard not to enjoy eating because there's so much good food to be found. It is said that eating is one of the favorite pastimes of the people here. So the best thing for me to do is to still eat and enjoy my food, but eat in moderation and also to make sure that I do some exercise weekly. I am not actually obese (although I have a little tummy) and my annual checkups show that I am generally in good health, so I shall keep things that way and still get to enjoy my food.

I think there has to be a happy medium. The fact is most ppl eat what they want with no regard as to what it's doing to their bodies until they are obese and then they have to go on a diet to try to fix it. If they'd be more careful about what they eat and how much they eat, there wouldn't be a need to diet all the time. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

Having been on both sides I know I would much rather be slim and healthy. I have lived many years in an obese body and recently was able to lose the weight with the help of gastric bypass. I never want to be in that situation again. Not only is it unhealthy it kept me from living like a normal sized person. There were many things I just didn't even want to attempt as an overweight person. I was insecure and tried very desperately to keep myself hidden from the rest of the world. Whereas now I am living life and loving it. I'm not saying all overweight people are this way but I was.

Animals balance their diets automatically. I once had a 6 month old bull calf on a weight gaining program. I kept him in a pen where he had water to drink and a variety of food to eat. This animal chose his diet which consisted of dry hay, chopped grain, and beef maker concentrate. He gained one and a half pounds every day until he reached one year old. I believe that humans too can balance their own diets, and if they so choose, can maintain a constant weight. After all, how much more intelligent are people than animals?

I would rather EAT TO MY HEART'S CONTENT and EXERCISE 2 hours a day than be on a diet. I admire Phelps because he can eat everything that he wants because of his high calorie needs for swimming so I copied his style and tweaked it a little.

well it depends really on my mood. I am basically a foodie and cant resist good food. However, I also feel very heavy and uncomfortable if I put on a little weight specially around my waist area. So I eat but with caution. Maybe once a month I will eat whatever I want to and the rest of the days, I will eat healthy food and in moderation. That way I can manage both my waist and my urge.

You do not need to go on a strict diet in order to stay slim. All you need is to make sure you are eating healthy foods and excersize regularily. In my opinion diets are bad they lead to diet pills which are addictive for some and that is worse than being a little over weight. I have a mother that is addicted to diet pills she buys a new one about every month because she says the one shejust bought doesn't work or because the new one is new and that is way more unhealthy.

I am very concerned about it because it just isnt healthy to ignore the signs. Excercise like good diet should be a regular habit because its harder to get back into shape if you let yourself go. We just cant have all the food and bad junk food and no excercise and be healthy....so its about disciplin and I am going back on a very strict regimine. Heart attacks take way to many lives and its preventable with common sense and taking better care of our bodies.

hmm... i would diet and stay slim and live longer. I am still able to eat till my heart's content as long as i know when to stop. I mean one doesn't need to be happily full by binge eating right. and if i diet and remain slim, i feel good about myself too. i mean i'm slightly conscious when it comes to body figure and if i fill up the entire seat.

In high school I was anorexic and I fought it for years. It was a control issue because I was not happy with certain situations. It was the only thing in my life that I could control. When I realized that I had control of other things in my life I begin enjoying food. Now mind you I have gained 40 lbs over the last 5 years. I feel so fat but it really is the least of my worries b/c I love to cook and eat. However I am still not fat. I just feel I am. But the disease is still there if I really think about it I can stop eating at any time. I choose to be healthy though. I don't eat bad foods and I am sure my weight is my ideal normal healthy weight to live an optimal life. I would never let myself get obeses though. I think that we should all live a healthy weight even if it is just for ourselves and our kids.

i try to watch my weight, eat right and exercise. I'm not always successful at the weight thing. My magic number is 150 lbs. When I hit that, I'm very disciplined at dieting and taking the weight off. Exercise is the one constant in my life. I weight train twice a week and do some sort of cardio exercise for 30 minutes at least four times a week. One of my resolutions is to increase the weight training to 3x per week and to increase the cardio to 45 minutes a day 6 days a week.
