Do you ever just read through an interesting discussion, but not participate?

I will. I find many interesting enough to just scroll through and read without having to respond. It may be a waste of time (and money :)) but sometimes I just like to see what other people are talking (writing) about instead of having to get involved. How about you? Do you ever just scroll and read?

Yeah, I find myself doing that all of the time. It is really interesting to read other people's thoughts and opinions on things. Sometimes I will read an opinion that is so close to my own that there is no point adding mine to the discussion.

Yeah, that is another time that I will read through and not reply... if a dozen people have already said exactly what I was going to say then what is the point?

I have done it although I do not like to do that because it usually means that the discussion has inspired a snotty and sarcastic reply, and I am trying to break that habit, hahaha.

I ran across a discussion today where a link had been given for a discussion where the person was flaming everyone. This person had asked for opinions, but had something mean to say to everyone who gave an opinion, saying they were flaming this person. Man, it got complicated and a long discussion. Those are the kind you definitely stay away from. If I want opinions, I should be able to stand whatever I get and not attack the people giving their opinions, considering we all have them.

Yes, I sometimes do. Especially if it's not a familiar subject, I read through what people have to say the first time. Do a bit of research if necessary before I actually contribute if there's anything I wanted to say.

When I was on the answers sight, a couple times I would answer a question by doing research (on top of what I already knew) and then I would copy and paste it in 'Word' and then edit it and place it on the website, that is cheating! It was like I wasn't confidant with my own knowledge or something.

Oh yes!! Many times I read and rate but not respond. I like to read the opinions of others. It gives me great insight and knowledge. Sometimes, I am just curious to see the responses of others.

Hello KaMlBob!
There are instances hen I just go over discussions here on myLot but do not respond to them. Yes, I do not necessarily respond to the discussions I read on myLot. There are those that are really very interesting enough. But there are times when I just read them and do not have responses for them. I must admit though that I do learn a lot from these discussions.

Most of the time, I respond to the discussions that interest me rather than just reading the whole discussion because I also want to share my insights and points of view about the topic. That is the reason why I like mylot because we all have the right to say what we want to.

When I respond to discussions that many people have answered to, I will tend to not read what everyone has said, because that is REALLY time consuming, but am always in hopes that I didn't repeat what someone else has said, so as to not look like I am plagerizing them.

I usually read the discussion is about and then if it's interesting, or might not be interesting I'll probably respond either way, aha. Usually I also want to see if anybody responded because what I might be saying could of already been said, so then I would've been saying the same thing somebody else did, so then what I said wouldn't of been a good response since somebody already wrote it.
