Now that Christmas Holiday is here, it's hard to maintain or lose weight, it's always been my problem since I gave birth to my daughter. I was able to maintain my weight before, but since last November to date, I really gain a lot of weight... but I told myself that after this Holiday, I am challenging myself to lose those kilograms that I've gained, I have done it before, so I guess I could do it again, but I should have the willpower to do it How about you guys? Do you have any goal that you would try to do for yourself this coming year? I would glad to hear from you...

I think that the best time to actually lose weight is during the summer or when you have plenty of time to get started on a diet. I went from 220 lbs. to 180 lbs. in one summer, that would be three months. I cut a lot of things from my diet and I exercised everyday to lose all of that weight. Yes, you have to have the will power, but think about the rewards. I went from a size 20 to a size 14. It was amazing! Today, I am at 170 lbs. and it feels great to go to a clothing store and find clothes that fit me. I never stop exercising and I am sticking to my diet. The goal I have for the new year is to get a real job, manage my finances and to accomplish my goal of learning the entire English Language.

You are right, it really feels great to buy clothes we really like that fits us, and for me, its really frustrating that whenever I wanted to buy the clothes but it doesnt fit me. I hope my husband would also have the will power to go on a diet, coz he, too, is very big right now, and Im very concerned about his health... I wish for you to accomplish your goal and to have a job. Happy New Year :)

Happy New Year to you as well, oh, by the way, when you begin to lose weight start out light and work your way up. I say walking at least a half mile or more three times a week, do some cardio, eat smaller portion sizes (if you really cannot eat anymore, then don't!), and cut back on ALL SWEETS (I mean it, sweets really do pack on the pounds). Doing all of this is how I went from 220 lbs. to 180 lbs. in three months. You have to work for it, you have to really want your health.

is it your new year resolution or what to reduce weight. well i am in such a shape that i don't really need to reduce my weight but if i put some 4/5 kgs then it would be okay. reducing weight isnt that difficult but you just have to maintain a proper diet and also have to do physical labour. in the morning if you drink a glassof water with a lemon juice in it. it helps reducing fats in the body. apart from that if you sweat a lot of doing what you like the most then also it will help in reducing fat and losing weight of the body.there are also so many different ways to lose weight. if you seriously want to lose it then foloow a dietician and also a trainer(physical).

good for you that you are already in a good shape. being a stay home mom, it's hard for me to do lots of exercising unless one has the will power and it is my goal to have one... :) if only i can afford to pay a dietician and a trainer, i would love to pay just to lose weight, hehehe... Happy New Year and Happy Mylotting

I KNOW! You just need to be very disciplined. I think December and January and the most fattening months of the year. December because everyone wants to see their family and friends so obviously you'll be eating out a lot. And January because there will be a lot of cookies and sweets given during the Christmas season which will be sitting in your kitchen and begging to be eaten! Ugh!

I lost a lot of weight once and over the last ten years or so gained it all back. My dad is comming to visit in april so now i have to really buckle down and loose some weight. I started before christmas that way i wouldn't gain extra weight that i had to loose after christmas. The first week i lost 3 pounds and the week of christmas nothing. But i didn;t gain either. I just quit snacking and eat smaller portions and instead ice cream for desert we making fruit smoothies with our new blender. I need to exercise but i hate exercising.

losing 3 pounds in a week, that's a good start. I also don't like exercising, but I always think about the saying "no pains, no gains" :)

For me, it isn't so much losing weight as it is getting healthy. I need to move my fat butt and eat better. We grow our own veggies, but being winter, I hate buying produce in the store. So I eat more starches and fats. This is not good! So I am trying to shop smarter. And again, get my butt moving!

hello nhey16, losing weight after the holidays has been a challenge with me as well. I have to work on it though that i need to cut off some of the meals that i am used to and limit my food in take as well but that doesn't mean that I have o starve myself. It just takes willpower and sacrifice without putting myself in jeopardy. Wish me best!!! thanks.

hello kenchiprincess :) i wish you all the best... and as i have always told my kids, dieting is just to limit ourselves with the necessary food that we take and like what you've said, it's not to starve ourselves like what others do... i often tell my kids that i'm going on a "diet" but i don't want to "die"... and that they should never forget the letter "T" at the end of the word... :)

oh you are right, i have done that too. i did starve myself and instead of losing weight, i gain more, coz whenever i eat, i eat a lot coz i really miss the taste of the food that i love... so now, i just limit myself and i do drink a lot of water... :)

I understand Nhey. I am a mother also and maintaining a weight that I can appreciate does not always come easy. The holidays don't help sometimes what with all of the good food displayed at family and friend's dinners. I think in the coming year I want to try to take care of myself a little more so I can be around for a long time with my family. Happy New Year.

To losing weight, sound easy, in practice hard to do it. Need a good planning to make it happens. Like how much calories should consume everyday (may be need nutritionists) . Remember for exercise, or sport that we like, very good for our health. If we do it regularly, i think will succeeded. This is take a process too, the result won't be in short of time, may be need few weeks or even months, so be patience too. Have a nice holiday, and what your planning losing weight programs will succeeded.

Well, I am now 8 month pregnant, and I'll be due in February this year. After giving birth, I really need to keep fit and lose weight, hopefully I can maintain my size like I was before I got pregnant, which is about 40 - 41kg. Now, I am 50kg, the heaviest I've ever been.

Well it doesn't sound like you have gained that much, you will love your new baby. I have found that human milk (pumping or feeding) will help you loose weight, and eating good foods. Exercise is also wonderful but the wonderful myth about exercise and loosing weight is not always true. Muscle weights more than fat, so if you exercise and diet you will probably loose a few pounds but you will loose more inches than anything. Sarafina50

Yup! You have the perfect mind set. I also convince myself in the same way - if I lost these pounds before then there's no stopping me to lose them again :D I started my regular routine of at least 30 minute exercise daily and helped cleaning up our house for extra exercise! Thanks for the comment on my discussion!

Well I'm back at work now so 30 minutes is a lot since I can't really jog wherever and whenever. But I have jogging scheduled every Tuesday and Thursday :D I brought my gym bag and there's no stopping me today! Except for rain... Have fun!

I also gained 2pounds for the last christmas holidays and right now I am trying to shield those extra pounds because I felt that my tummy is beginning to look like a big lump in front of me and it is very uncomfortable. Right now I am doing body stretching, walking and jumping to regain my shape before. As for goal in 2009 well, I wish to land a job in writing, I mean a professional and full time writing gig because that's what I always wanted. I am working hard to hone my writing skills right now and hopefully find a lasting career in writing. I hope to study abroad also, preferably a short term course in screenwriting and filmmaking and make an indie film in the coming years. Hopefully.
