Saving some money for future is wise. It comes handy at the time of need. When I was very young, i remember my father bought me a piggy bank from a fair. It was an earthen piggy bank & i remember my first saving of 100 Rupees (indian currency )extracted from it after 8 months after breaking it. I don't do it now but I think to restart the practice as it would come handy at the time of dearth of change money.
I am curious to know has any of u people saved some money in a piggy bank ever???
Do reply....

Yes I have. I still do actually. You know people don't like carrying a pocket full of change around well me or my husband don't anyways so we drop it in a jar we have here or the little bank we have here for a rainy day or if something happens we have that extra money. One time we did take it to one of the money machines here to cash it in and was over 200 dollars of change. So saving a little here and there does add up over time. I think every parent should get one for their kid or kids when they are born and teach the kids to save a little as well. I call it my mad money.

I don't have an actual piggy but i have a big bottle were i put all my change in after work everyday.
Sometimes it's 50 cents others only 2 but it adds up.
I changed it in one time when i was broke and got $187. Not bad for change.

the piggy bank system works for me as well. I'm already an adult and Im already earning but still i use this method with loose change because it works! The greatest temptation you face is when you want to smash the piggy bank to see how much youve earned :) But the method works! ive been using it for 6 years now!

yes, i saved money in a piggy bank, but not very much, because i don`t have a salary every month. I don`t work and i don`t have a lot.My dad gives me a "salary" he put in a box every day some money and when i come home, he gives me what it`s there.

Yes I have a piggy bank here since I came to Russia since 5 years ago. Girlie piggy! and it is cute. Most of the time when I have coins I put them into it. Now it is so heavy and almost full. I have it with me on my table right after my laptop. It is good also to save my coins in a neat place so they don't fly around cause I don't like to bring coins in my wallet. Now I gotta start using them cause it is full!

Not me, but we do it with our son. Its not a piggy bank rather a small wooden box with a slit on top. It was bought for Rs 5/- only and I had it taped on all sides to fortify it further. We have also bought a small press lock and everyday my son puts in some loose change in it. Its been quite a few times that the box has filled up and we have put the money in a bank account in his name.

that is a good thing done for ur son....letting him save for himself. It would be nice if he retains the habit as he grows up..

yes in childhood we are all taught about savings for the future. in my childhood i used to save a very lilltle bacause i wsn't getting much pocket money. and also those savings were for the expenses that i couldn't make or buy at that time. like if i like a toy which is rs.5 then i had to save for nearly a month to get that. so those days are gone. now i don't have that habit in me continuing. so these days i am run out of savings which i know going to put me in trouble in my old ages...happy new year.

I want to get a piggy bank now. My dad keeps a jar of coins, which never seems to grow in size, and I have a container I contribute to whenever I actually have some change or dollar bills. But I think a 'piggy bank' would be a good idea for me. Especially since it would be hard to get the money out until I absolutely needed to. That is key to the method... I remember when I was little my friend had this piggy bank that his parents added to regularly. We were 6-7 and he was talking about when he was older he'd buy something really big. Like a car. I wonder now if he's smashed into it yet or is still saving. Perhaps filling a second or third piggy bank.
This discussion makes me want to dedicate a container to be my piggy bank. Or maybe I'll find a cheap but adequate one to serve as my coin holder.

hey friend...u can take out the coins if u maintain a container ...thats a great temptation to avoid..i suggest u go for a piggy that is one way..u only have to crush it to get your money back...

My daughter has a piggy bank. Although she doesnt understand money yet. She already knows that if she saw (extra)coin from my pocket, it should be put in her piggy bank. I hope later in her life that she should also learn how to keep extra money.

Yes,i have a piggy bank.If i get any coin as a change i drop it in my piggy bank.I open it only once in a year.On January first i will open and spend it for buying some gift.Mylot is another piggy bank for me.After accumulating 10 dollars,we are getting the payment from them.A penny saved is a penny earned". In today's world, a penny accumulated here and there doesn't sound like much, especially with the cost of living continuously rising, but surprisingly enough you can save money by holding onto that loose change. The key to using a money box or piggy bank to increase your savings is to do something with it once you raise significant dollar amounts.depositing change into your money box can prove lucrative over the course of time, it won't necessarily make you rich, but before you know it you're likely to find your piggy bank having a healthy expansion and this happened without impacting any money you needed to meet monthly expenses. Saving change is a neat way to find money for the "extras" that you normally wouldn't spend money on. A good rule of thumb is to tally your treasure every so often and then go deposit it into an interest earning account to maximize your savings if you weren't waiting to buy something specific. Once the savings deposits funds grow you can find better ways to invest or add to other investments you may have.Plus it's fun to realize you accomplished saving money with little effort. If you have kids, it teaches them the value of a dollar and how saving and not splurging every time they have extra money can yield some nice benefits.

Yes . When I was a baby I had a piggy bank. It was wooden frame with plexi glass screed on each side of it. ALl my life savings until I was 6 were put in there. At the age of 6 I opened up my first bank account and no longer used the piggy bank.
Currently I have a little plastic blue pig that I put all my change in under $1.00. I then save this change and roll it and deposit it into the bank. I vowed that all this money I will put towards my savings.

I've always make it a usual thing also to save whole five peso coins and ten peso coins. Though not on piggy banks, I recycle Pringles cans and other snack bottles which I use to save my coins. You think coins do not value much but after a while or after months of saving, I don't even notice my savings, when I open my bottles, I have already saved a thousand pesos. They also come very handy on emergencies when we really need some additional funds in cases like school projects, or medical emergency.

I do not have a piggy bank, but I have a big post box when I was a little boy. I saved coins and notes into it. I do not have to break it as it has an opening at the bottom. I still keep it until today, however I do not save my coins into it anymore. It takes too long to fill up. I got 2 other camel coin boxes from bank recently and started to insert coins into one of them. I am competing with my wife, see whose camel get full first. I always bank in the money after changed.

yes i have a piggy bank here , but it's not really for saving money , it's rather for getting all the change that is all over the house in place. but then at the end of a year , it does turn out to be a good amount. and my kids are learning the power of saving. however small or insignificant.
