How often do you try something totally new for dinner?
I'm always on the look out for new dinner ideas. I got a cookbook for Christmas with a lot of great casserole ideas in it. I love casserole dishes, they're usually so easy, and you rarely have to prepare a side dish to go with it, everything is right in one dish.
So this past week we tried a bunch of new meals we'd never had before. The mashed potato crusted pork was probably the hit of the week. Everyone loved it. It's just a shame the recipe didn't make enough for anyone to have seconds.
Have you tried something new recently?

Yes, yesterday I did something new. I served a stuffed roll of belly of pork. It was stuffes with pepperonie and regualr bread stuffing. It weighed about 8lbs and although everyone ate until there heart's content and went back for seconds there was still plenty left over for sandwiches and for dinner tonight. I would definitely do this dish again as it was a great hit.
I too love casseroles and as you righly said, they are so easy and if slowly cooked the meat is so tender.
Oh, I also did roasted vegetables - potatoes, csarrots onions covered in a spanish garlic dry dressing and some olive oil. Just roasted them about an hour before the meat was ready. Tasted so good. Blessings dear firend.

Hi rocket, I'm not sure if it is the dsame thing. I"ll have to find out. The belly of pork is boneless with the skin on the outside. Let me find out - I"ll pm the recipe to you though. Blessings

I have not really tried anything new lately. I am always looking through cookbooks and looking for new ideas for dinner, but I always end up making the same things. I love casseroles too. I need to make a list of things I want to try and get the stuff next time I go shopping.

Last week I ended up not deciding to do these dishes until after I'd finished the shopping. I just made do with what I had, and luckily that was good enough. I don't follow recipes to a T anyways, I usually just use them as a guideline.

Yes, I love to try new things too. I tried a recipe off of one of the cooking shows on cable. I don't even remember the name of the show~! It was a cabbage dish served with a cream sauce over pasta. I added some seasoned cook pork to the recipe (for hubby) and had a complete meal. It was really good too!

Trying something new at this house is a very rare occurance. It's like pulling teeth around here to convince people that maybe we should try other things. Sometimes I can bring up a suggestion for something new to try and then they say OK, sure we'll try it tomorrow and then when it comes down to it, they'll just end up fixing the same old thing again ignoring what was said the day before.
I'm sure tired of the same old stuff.

We used to try a new recipe like once a week. The last few months though money has been tight so we've just been sticking to the cheap basics. Now my husbands job is going really well and I'll be starting work on sunday and we got approved for food stamps so I'm hoping to improve our eating and try some new things. I love casseroles too. We've made some good ones that everyone loved.
