This is a place I spend alot of time at during the summer with my children. It's nice here and very relaxing. I was there this past week and took some photos. I love this place so much I wanted you to see. Do you have a special place you like to go?

There is a place in Pennsylvania, Bushkill Falls, where we used to like to go in summer and slide down the smooth parts, but many years ago they made the falls inaccessible to people and a wonderful fun place to have fun and cool off was taken away. I guess it was for insurance purposes but nature made it for people to enjoy and now they charge, you can walk near it but not go in it.
How sad much of nature is now "owned" and cannot be enjoyed.

Thanks for the BR. I often wonder when the day will come when we will pay an "air tax" so we can breath.

There are a few nice places that I enjoy visiting but do not seem to get much time to do that these days. One is almost any small town in the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia as we used to go crabbing and fishing there when I was young. Another place is also in South Australia and that is Swan Reach where we used to go fishing and swimming in the summer months. Every month or so we would also go to the Barossa Valley in South Australia which is probably the biggest grape growing area here in Australia. It was a great place and we had some good friends there but it was also a few hours drive which is why we didn’t; go too often. On the up side of things when we did go, we would go on the Friday night and stay there till Sunday. Because it was a small place then, we children were allowed to explore to our heart’s content as long as we took water to drink, something to snack on and were home in time to be cleaned ready for the evening meal. I am still friends with my childhood mates (boys) from that family and we see each other at least once a year now that we are older.
When my ex-wife and I separated, I took my own daughters to the Yorke Peninsula for one holiday. We spent 2 weeks there and in that time saw most of the attractions plus I was able to get them to do some fishing, once I had baited the hook that is. We also went to Swan Reach for a long week-end but that didn’t find that nearly as exciting which might be because they caught no fish on that trip.
It had been made years since I had visited the Barossa Valley until I met my partner. Her grandparents had been born in that area and although they had moved away over 70 years previously, there were some family still living there. One of my partners great aunts by marriage was turning 90 and so the family decided to organise a celebration party for her and invited all the relations they could find. Imagine my surprise when we got there and one of this ladies sons-in-law was my old childhood mate. I think I enjoyed that party more than my partner did, because she had to drive home the next day. Well we did have a lot of catching up to do after about 40 or so years. My partner would like to go there for a holiday at sometime but says she is going alone if we are spending all the time with my old mate who brews a pretty decent red I do have to say.
There are many other places that I would like to see because most of the rest of Australia I have seen has been through the truck windscreen. I would like to be able to stop and explore some of those areas at ground level one day. My partner and I are thinking that when I retire, in the cooler months we might not grow any crops but instead do some travelling to see more of the country. Of course it will all depend on the state of the economy at the time as that will be the deciding factor.
The photos you took look great Jen and you are making some wonderful memories for your children by spending time with them in a special place. In future years they can look back on those times and remember just how it felt and maybe in turn, they will also spent time there with their children. Okay that might be some/many years in the future but it would be nice all the same.
When I read your discussion Jen, it bought back those great memories I had tucked away in the back of my head and made me think that it would be nice to spend some time in those place with my partner and maybe our grandchildren. Thank you for letting me relive and revive some of those wonderful memories.

Although your daughters might be different Jen it seems they an both find some enjoyment in your special place, even if the older one has interests other than the outdoors. I do not envy you with your older daughter becoming interested in boys having been through it 4 times already as well as the reverse with 2 boys.
Good luck to you as your girls grow up Jen.
(No I am not home but stuck at the Brisbane depot waiting for the load that was to be ready for me this morning. If the can keep me waiting around, I can use their internet). lol

I'm glad this discussion brought back some good memories. Maybe you can visit a nice place with your partner and grandchildren very soon. My girls do love that place.Especially the little one as she is more "outdoorsy" than the older one now.My little one loves to hike and camp and swim.My older one likes it to but at her age she has a lot on her mind...friends,boys,phone,computer.lol It's a hard life for a teen.hehe. She loves photography and takes advantage of her time ther to take pictures.

That's wonderful! It remind me of a place in our province where we used to visit during summer. Going to that place is an adventure. It would take an hour of hiking up and down the hills. And before you reach the spot, you need to climb up on that side of the mountain, 50 feet high with a slope of about 70 degrees from the horizontal. Then you have to walk for more that 100 feet along that edge of the mountain. You can imagine what would happen to you when you fall as you look down the river with those rocks. But its all worth it when you rich the spot. You will fall inlove with the place. It's a shame i don't have any pictures of the place right now but will surely post some once i get it.

I can't wait to see it. This particular waterfall is a three tier. You have to hike up to second and third level up a fairly dangerous and steep path to reach them.I have another pic uploaded on my profile if you want an idea of how big this thing really is.It's unreal! Thanks for the response.

I'd love to go to Baguio. It is the summer capital here in the Philippines.Even if it's summer in the place,it would still be cold.Places in the northern part of our country sometimes reach negative temperatures despite our country being a tropical country.I've never visited Mt.Province but my dad has and it's beautiful because the culture there is being preserved and the Banaue Rice Terraces is there which was one of the world's greatest wonders.
