Well firstly I must ask if you think that such an ear exists and if so which era would you say it is?
Some think it is the sixties and seventies because music was made with less instruments and music then had a social conscience.
Some feel it was the eighties because the greatest star ever Michael Jackson really came into hi own. There are others who came on the scene at this point but I don’t remember any lol.
The nineties was a time when many great bands came on the scene but then the music became more technology and less instruments so many think the music lost its” soul "so to speak.
Then came the 21 st century when the music is almost only made on computers instead of with bands and instruments .Yet this is an interesting period because now you don’t have to be able to sing to make music as you have auto tune and the vocoder ---consequently artists like Tpain can sell millions without being able to sing.

I think the favorite era for music is the time you grew up in.It was the 70's for me glam rock, reggaie,AbbaA,heavy rock .there were so many different types of music to choose from folk was also very popular. We also had David Cassidy from America and all those easy listnening ,and of course the Beatles were still around just. But they were splitting up and doing their own thing,Sandy shaw,LuLu my mum used to love Jim Reeves a country and western singer,so we had so many different influnces on us music wise I think that is why I have everything in my music collection from Marc Bolan ,to Robbie willams ,Take that,Cliff Richards, My husband used to be a DJ and played lots of pubs and clubs in the south east and he has a massive collection of records so although we don't get much chance to play them we do enjoy our music.

You may be right on that point since I feel the nineties is the best period of music but that is when I really started to show an interest in music.Maybe if I had grown up in the seventies I would have though the same since I like some folk tunes today especially those by Bob Dylan and I also like Abba.Yeah an I am a fan of take that and Robbie Williams to so I guess there is beauty in all forms of music

I think that the 60's was the greatest era for music. Elvis, the Beatles and all the 60's singers and bands changed music with Rock 'n Roll. I love Rock 'n Roll. I always listen to the Oldies on the radio. I am also a big fan of Henry Mancini and I like classical music and Marches too. I also like folk music.

I personally can't say. I know what I like, and I tend to be picky that way. I liked the 70-80's rock because you could understand the words. I loathe "music" where they scream at the top of their lungs, or play the music so loud it felt like a hangover afterwards. (Not a pleasant feeling!) I like songs that have words, and feelings, and meaning. Yeah, I know country is all about "somebody done somebody wrong, so let's go drinking", but I like it too. Not the whiny ones, but George Strait, Garth Brooks, the smooth voices that have happy songs too. I like things that make me feel good. Isn't that the point of music? To hear something, and feel your spirit soar? To feel better after hearing the song than before?

The answer for me would be the 80s. I absolutely love the music from those years. I was born in the early 80s and have always loved that music.

Well I was born in 80s, so I don't really get to hear a lot of 80s music. But during my Elementary days, I love the music. Who would ever a person wouldn't know the song "Macarena"?! That's like the hit music of all time, you can hear it like all over the world. But I have heard the 50s and like 60s and 70s music, they're cool too. To be honest, I like the old time songs, talking about the Beatles, they're totally the legend. Who in the world wouldn't love Beatles! I dig them! I must say that nothing beats the old time music because for me, it all started with them, and all with good music, though this time, music are getting more futuristic and with the help of technology, the not so talented singer can already sing. Even I like the 60s music, I'd still stick with what's the music right now. We live in the moment. =)

Definitely the 80's-I actually wanted to watch the Grammys because there was people like Annie Lennox and Boy George and Michael Jackson. Music with an attitude, lol. Not to mention George Michael, and I think Elton John's music was popular then, too. Great stuff, I still like to listen to it.

I don't think there's a "greatest era" I think each era has something different to bring to music lovers, personally I like the sixties, seventies, a little nineties, and some 21st century but the more music I'm exposed to the more I like each era in a different way.

I think I truly enjoyed the music of the 80s more than I do the music of today. But of course that could be because I was younger and a little more open minded and free. I had no other worries in those years and had plenty of time to do nothing but enjoy the music. :)

The late 60s and early 70's had awesome music that just doesn't die out. I love music and do like much of the newer stuff as well but most of the newer groups do not seem to have the staying power as those classics. Even the young kids will listen often to some of that older stuff. There have been some that have cropped up since that are great and you just know they'll be around for a while but certainly not as many.

I think that the most recent generations have pumped out some music that blow all other music away. I think that the technicality that goes into music in this day and age is unreal compared to like classic rock and that crappy hair metal crap. The Dillinger Escape Plan, The Mars Volta, The Deftones, Tool, Nine Inch Nails, and much more have all been revolutionary bands for me. I really like that music is also combining analog with digital and I really like the final product that the two create.

This is the era of good music. This is also the era of really bad music too. I'm a heavy metal guy, and after people get past the surface of pop culture's music and engage more interesting bands music can be very rewarding. Check out the band Equillibrium for example. They are an amazing blend of black metal, folk metal, regular folk music, and many different instruments and tempo changes. Its fairly awsome, and nothing that could have been produced prior to this era.

I personally think its the 70's.. It's the best rock era of music and the love songs are great as well.. The sound and rhythm were just fine and the lyrics of each music were amazing.. The whole page is not enough to name all the great artist of the 70's era..
