One of my New Year's resolutions is to walk 10,000 steps per day. There are a tremendous number of health benefits associated with walking. So what about you, do you have any fitness resolutions? If so, what are they?

Thank you for your response. I used to be a nail biter too. What I did to break myself of the habit was that I filed my nails every night and put polish on them three times a week. When you see how nice your nails look after a month of doing it, you won't be tempted to bite them anymore. Good luck.

I want to lose weight this year, but I don't believe in making new year resolutions because no one hardly ever goes by them or they forget what it even was half way through the year. I haven't made any specific things I am going to do to start losing weight. Im on the right path right LOL I hoping when summer comes I can really get out side and walk everyday. But before summer, I don't know what i am going to do. Its to darn cold to be outside!

I love in Southern California so I really don't know what winter is (Don't hate me)! DH and I don't appreciate enough that we're able to get outside to exercise every day. I took a New Years resolutions class last year that really helped me with sticking to them. I only make three of them but the one that I can never seem to accomplish is the one that involves weight loss. Good luck and don't get snowed in!

One of my goals is to also walk 10,000-12,000 steps a day. I am not doing it and I know that I need to walk at least this many to lose weight and stay fit. It is great exercise and helps with heart health as well. I also have other health oriented goals for the new year, like losing weight through cutting back on calories and eating healthier foods like more fruits and vegetables.

For me, 10,000 steps ends up being about an hour and fifteen minutes which is sometimes tough to fit in. I solved the problem by doing 5 sessions of 15 minutes on the days when I can't get to the gym. I'm also doing the weight loss thing. In fact, we have a mylot group on Spark People. Come over and join us. It's free. DH and I were up to 9 fruits and veggies a day and when the holiday season came we fell completely off but I want to get back to that as well.

Hi LaurenInLa! That's a good one. Wakling is definately great exercise! For me..I want to start better eating habits. I'm not overweight but I think I would feel better if I were eating right. It will also be alot better for me in the long run.

Hi JenInTen. Thanks for responding. Another one of my goals is to lose weight this year. DH isn't overweight but I want to incorporate 9-11 servings of fruits and veggies in our diet and eliminate red meat this year. We fell off the fruit and veggies wagon when the holidays rolled around. You will definitely feel better and have a lot more energy when you eat right. Good luck to you.
