Why does a dog go after one person and not others?

I am one guy who always gets chased by all those "bow bow" creatures. Even the stray dogs of my own street barks on me while they seldom do that for the strangers!
I mean it is completely ridiculous. You don't want to be in a situation where you are coming to your own house with someone and suddenly all the dogs of your own niche starts telling everyone here comes our favorite person...

Do you have pets? Could be they smell your pet on you.
It doesn't sound like you are afraid of these dogs, some dogs want to prove their dominance to someone they sense fears them. But again, that doesn't sound like the case here.
I would just assume they sense that you are a good person and they're hoping you'll scratch their ears or give them a cookie.

So that is a price to be payed for being good!
I think if I give them some cookies then they will anticipate it even more.

Dogs sense when a human is fearful. That is when they will tend to chase you. If you show no fear, then the chasing should stop. If you have to, stop, turn to them and yell "stop". They also sense when a person is a bad person, but usually they will bark and snarl or try to bite the person that is bad. It sounds like you are just afraid of them and they know it.

Never tried yelling at them but I am not afraid of them. They just chase me sometimes and some other times just make noise and wave their tails, it is not threatening.

Try carrying some dog biscuts in your pocket and when a dog runs up to you, turn around fast and say: STOP! Good goggy, that's a good boy, here, here's a little treat, and give him a biscut! Throw it at him if you have to and just (walk) away, DON'T RUN! Dogs love the chase! In time, talking and acting like those dogs are YOUR dogs and giving them some biscuts now and then should settle them down. Don't be surprised if they start protecting you on your walks and wanting to be your friend. That is how I conquered my stray dog problem. Now I have 2 very nice stray dogs who sleep outside by my house and protect me and my property from other stray dogs as well as strangers. I thank them by giving them a meal several times a week!

you stumped me on this way, maybe they sense you like them or you are afraid of them or they just like your scent.

Apparently the dogs can sense you don't like them or are afraid of them. Dogs sense these things. My son has the same problems with dogs, because he is afraid of them. Sometimes I wonder how he can be MY son since I love animals so much. LOL I've never been afraid of dogs. Sometime back a neighbors pit bull was out front chasing my cat and I charged out there to confront the dog. In retrospec it might have been foolish, but at the time I was angry not afraid. Maybe if you don't fear them, or even toss them a dog bisquit from time to time they will stop.

hi... it seems to be very funny situation...i don't think the dogs simply bark at a particular person ..they bark like that only when they have been previously annoyed or beaten up.some dogs are simply mad...the bark at each and every person .i'm so afraid of such situation ...lol...happy my lotting..

Oh! It does not only sound ridiculous but also very dreadful, I guess. It would be rather difficult for you to walk freely even in your locality for those dogs. I think, either you are getting too much cautious, which transpires a special signal to those creatures, or they are simply enjoying the fact that you are rather afraid of them.
I would strongly advise you to try and ignore their presence. Otherwise, you would better lodge a complaint with appropriate authority to make that place free from stray dogs.

Hi coolmailraj,
Lol! maybe they don't like you or for other reason. When I was little I used to play with my neighbour's dog and love him so much bu everytime my cousin comes over that dog would go for her and she used to run like mad, until someone gets hold of the dog, all my family was ok with the dog and my baby brother use to sleep on him and sometimes tries to ride him, he was so gentle with us but not my cousin, he hated her.

There are many reasons dogs do this,i really can;t explain why maybe like the other person said they smell another animal on you.It could be your actions and some dogs just don;t like men,i have a mini dobie that hates men.Why i don;t no but she goes after them like bullet.

I am in a similar situation but with me it is one breed of dog. I can handle the biggest meanest looking dog there is but put me within ten feet of a chihuahua and its on. They take an instant dislike to me and do there best to chew my leg off at the ankle, even if they are the most peaceful dog with everyone else. In like manner I am absolutely terrified of them.

Well I guess I don't know you, but in general I would say dogs can sense danger. If they feel you are a threat to them then they will not like you so much. Are you mean to dogs? Do you have a meanness to you? Maybe its just the tone of your voice they take in the wrong way. It is hard telling.

Hello coolmailraj. It is interesting to know that. . Well, when I was a child around ten, I was often chased by dogs as well. You know why? It is because I was afraid of dogs and each time I saw a dog, I started to feel nervous and run as fast as I could. Due to this running action of mine, the chasing dogs scared me more...Take care, friend.

Sometimes dogs can sense your fear. Maybe when you see dogs or hear them barking, yo have s little bit of fear in you. fear that maybe they'll start chasing you because that's what happens all the time. If you try to like dogs more often then maybe you can get over your fear. Or maybe you're the only interesting person in the neighborhood? I don't know haha.

it's either because they go to the person who don't like dogs or because they smell another dog that been around you as well.
