Where is my doggies poop gonna go?
Seriously, I am all for treating our planet as best I can. After all, it's a long way to the next planet, so I think, we best take care of where we are if we want to stay here. But, here's my problem. I have two animals, a dog and a cat and they generate a lot of poop. I use, every plastic bag I can get my hands on. Not one of them goes into the recycling or the garbage without being reused.
So my question is this, if we all stop using plastic bags and use the reusable ones, where is my dog poop going to go. I don't know about all of you, but, people do not pick up after their animals now, what happens if there are no plastic bags for them to "stoop and scoop" with?
Help me with this perplexing problem....

With the green movement going on, I can definitely see where you are coming from, especially if you live in a city. I suppose that people will have to start using poop scoops and bypass the plastic bag. In recent times I have also seen an increase in people using compost piles, and with community gardens on the rise, I could see larger compost piles coming about to nourish those gardens. A moderate amount of animal waste could be used in compost piles, just as cattle, pig, chicken, etc. manure is used to fertilize fields around here. But then the problem is getting it to the compost piles.
And I sure hope that people continue to pick up after their animals. It truly can get very gross in public areas and parks when you have to dodge "doggy land mines". I am sure that some kids get sick from picking up/playing with/eating that stuff when their parent's aren't looking and they don't know what it is.

Hi, There
Ewww! You bring up another excellent point children! I hate having to dodge little piles of poop, and since I use a power wheelchair, getting that poop off of my tire treads, is even worse then you trying to dig it off your shoe! happy Mylotting!

There are bags that you can get that are biodegradable.. and they are scented.. i use them for diapers when they are poopy.. i get them at teh dollar store.. there are 48 in a pack.. If you dotn have a dollar store where you live, or they dont carry them, there are places online to buy similar items:

I'm sure you could find a cheaper one than that even.
P.S. I am glad i dont have to pick up dog poop, with or without plastic bags ;)

you are right...what are we to do? Is there any bags that are eco friendly for picking up dog poop. I have to walk three dogs and I have to pick it up somehow...and I do have the go green shopping bags and have no problem with using them but , what eco friendly way can we pick up the dog poop?

Quite frankly I thought so too, I originally thought of this question because a good friend of mine is involved politically with environmental activism and she strongly urged me to start using the reusable grean bags. I looked at her and I said, I need and reuse all of the plastic bags that I get at the grocery store. None of them are wasted.... She didn't have an answer for me either.... All of us dog owners know just how much poop our four legged friends can produce!
It's a good thing they're cute and cuddly!

Not a problem with us. We can create a compost thingie with grass clippings and dog poop (if we had a dog). And I guess we could put the cat box remnants straight into the garbage can (though I HATE that idea) if we had no other choice.
But maybe they will figure out some kind of a natural replacement for the plastic bags. Hope so...

You make a good point here. I can understand that you want to help the planet but in the meanwhile you want to make sure that you are picking up after your animals.
Some people don't pick up after their pets and that is even worse. Maybe the environmental agencies will keep trying to figure out something that is feasible for everyone to do.
