I read a blog recently about witchcraft and Satanism, and the owner mentioned that once you became a witch, you couldn’t get out. I guess its like the Mafia, hunh? But the part about casting spells on others cracked me up. Do people really still believe such superstitious nonsense is REAL?

Witchcraft is a very real religion, ours is a belief in nature and our God's and Goddesses are the Mothers and Fathers of everything in and of the earth and sky.
There is no relationship with stanizm at all,and while there are some that stray from the true path at times and cast spell against people, these are very rare,We do hold at harming none when possable and in the three fold princable.
As I have mentioned, this is a religious belief the same as yours, you can change it any time you wish, but why would you want to?

YAY! A fellow Canadian and you are Wiccan. May I be your friend. I would like to learn more about Wicca as I think it may be my path.
By the way, I think you made a perfect response.

Hi coolmailraj,
I wonder if this person who wrote that aritcle is a witch or someone who thinks witchcraft is about casting bad spells and worshipping Satan? witches don't go around casting bad spells on people as they believe in Three fold return, if you do bad things to others you will get it back three folds and also witches are people who believe in nature and loves all things nature and do not do harmful things, they believe in Gods and Goddess and are kind to people, they are not evil as most peole thinks.

You are absolutely right tamara. Nothing is done to harm another living thing. Everything done is said "and it harm none", so mote it be with means amen.

Not all witches believe in harm none and the three fold law...that sounds wiccan to me.

Oh goodness, once you get in you can't get out? Oh that is priceless. I'm a witch and yes I believe in what you call nonsense but I seriously doubt you have a clue what a real witch is all about since you think it is someone akin to the mafia.
This is a new one to me.

You can be sure that there are many people that believe in just about anything so there are probably truckloads of people that believe in witches, curses and similar BS.
I've actually had a spell cast on me many years ago but that person didn't notice I was wearing my deflector shield so the joke is on her :)

I believe in negative and positive energy, I guess you might include a curse as negative energy. As to how much power is there, I think that is what ever the person receiving the energy allows. I never make fun of others fears anymore then I do of their beliefs. I don't know what is real and what is not, but i do know that ones fears are very real to them. Humans that say all is known ignore the facts that more is being discovered all the time. Be kind

People are free to believe what they want....
Read a bible...people believe in that? That seems obtuse to me so what I believe in must seem obtuse to others. I am very educated with a college degree...so it is not about being uneducated nor living in a third world country. Its about what helps you make sense of your life and the world around you.

I think people, at least a lion-share of them, believe in good wishes and curses as well. And this is good in a different sense. This helps to somehow govern social behavior. Although the concept of witches is no more endorsed in any civilized society barring few less privileged societies, who need to be enlightened.

Yes, many do believe in this and what do you think the cathelic churches have been doing for years. They hit it in the underground for many years.
They use insence, candles, and other things that the other sects use and call them by the same thing, incantations and so forth.
I don't knock anything. Not all witchcraft is evil there is black and white and some inbetween. Study it by reading the books available before discounting anything.

Unfortunately yes and only God can take that person out from that curse. We do not know the power that Satan has and that of his angels. They will do all that they can to destroy mankind and if it makes them into fearful slaves, he will do it. In Canada and the States, people know that those curses that someone says cannot hurt them but in the third world, they do believe them and when they come over here they bring their superstitions with them. And sometimes these curses have physical manifestations. Strange but true.
And that owner who said once you became a witch are there for life, maybe she was one and was using fear to keep them in line. Just like the Muslims saying once you become a Muslim you are there for life.
It is all about fear.

It lives with you. These all starts from the bed time stories that your grandma would have told you and will end only after you either kill them or you are no more. As kids we fantasize a lot of things and they keep on building inside us. It is not going to be affected by the evolution of outside world.
