Are you uncomfortable looking at yourself in the mirror?

Those of you who have been following my postings and discussions know I have a great sense of humor about myself and about my life. I know, that I will never be on the cover of cosmopolitan magazine, and I am absolutely OK with that! But, over the holidays, I was speaking with someone about their appearance, and they experienced major (well, more then I thought usual )distress while looking in the mirror.
So I turn to you, my fellow Mylot members, to conduct an unofficial survey. Are you uncomfortable looking at yourself in the mirror, and if so, just how uncomfortable are you? Will you avoid looking in the mirror at all or do you spend extra time obsessing in front of the mirror?
As always your comments are appreciated and happy Mylotting!

I'm not uncomfortable looking at myself in a medicine cabinet mirror (to do my hair, makeup, etc), but I have trouble with the full length mirror. Although I don't feel like I am... I am obese and need to lose about 100 pounds to be a normal weight. I used to be thin, and miss being thin, so that's been especially hard for me. I try to lose weight, but I get made fun of everytime I step on a scale and try to follow a diet. A little discouraging. My metabolism is getting a lot slower than it used to pay, so its hard to even lose a pound. Stress definitely doesn't help with trying to lose weight either.

Perhaps, weight is just a number. It's just my opinion of course, but I think we need to accept ourselves as we are first and then move on to make improvements to the things that we do not like and wish to change. Only if we accept where we are now, can we move on to a different place...
Those were just my initial thoughts to your posting, I see you are relatively new to Mylot, so welcome and happy posting!

Who is that middle aged woman in the mirror and what has she done with my body?
I'm not so much uncomfortable with looking at myself in the mirror but I like very, very few photos that are taken of me.
I had an older friend who had been a model. Somewhere along the way she developed Hodgkin's disease (I think) and she had radiation scars on her neck. She didn't model after that and she told me that she couldn't bear to look at the pictures from those days. I am the opposite. I'd much rather look at pictures of myself from when I was younger than pictures from now. Denial, denial, denial. lol

Hi there wheel,
I tend to look haggard and ugly when I'm tired and stressed out so I make it a point not to look in the mirror when I'm not feeling well... LOL
I'm really comfortable looking at myself in the mirror. I'm ok with my looks and I'll never do anything to change it, not even a FREE extreme makeover like surgery.

I never used to like how I look, but after some procedures, I feel much better about my looks. I know it's what's on the inside that truly counts, but I think being attractive is fairly important.

Hi
I don't feel comfortable to look at myself in a mirror. because I am not in a good shape. I wanna lose more weight in order to be more confident. So now I keep exercise everyday and eat less than before. however, I have not seen any feedback from my stupid body! But I am happy everyday!Yeah
