Do you change your menu according to the weather?

I know some people who go with weather when it comes to cooking. There menu will be full of salad, and fruits in summer; lots of soup and spicy food in cool weather. Also there are lots of herbs they use according to weather or according to season. Personally I don’t care much about weather or season when it comes to eating. I eat through out the year whatever I like. Only there are two things I don’t like much in winter, and they are ice cream and juice. What about you friends? Do you care about weather or season when it comes to food?

The weather makes no difference to me my friend, if I fancy a nice salad in the Winter then I will have a salad or if I fancy ice cream or sorbet I will happily eat that even if it's freezing cold. Any time is good for ice cream, rain, snow, wind or sun! Whatever I fancy I'll eat regardless of how hot or cold it is. I drink juice every day for breakfast all year round.

It seems you are a big fan of ice cream:). I also like it, but when it is cold I don't enjoy it as much as I do in summer.

I do change some foods on our menu according to the weather. During the winter we make things that use the oven such as meatloaf and baked chicken. We also have a lot of stews and soups. We try not to use the oven too much in the summer when it is hot!

I can understand your point about not using the oven too much in summer. Its not a bad idea to use the oven according to the weather.

Hi Sweetlady. I live close to Houston, and this time of year the weather keeps going from summer to winter and back again. On warm days I like more fruits and on cold days i like to eat oranges to stay well and maybe hot tea.

Over here, we have only rainy and hot seasons; however there are times that I go with the weather when it comes to cooking. If it's raining, it's rather cold - so I would have hot soups and spicy food. If it's hot, it could be scorching, so it's more of 'cooling' food like herbal and vegetable soups and of course, lots of ice-creams!

Defintly, many more soups and stews and more spicy foods in the winter. I just made stew last night. I also make more chili and things like that, as well as frito pie and cornbread in the winter.

I think that there are more fruits that are so tempting to buy in the summertime and that's why I get into eating them at that time. Barbquing is another thing I love in the summer and I also know people who will cook that way in the winter too. Myself, I really do change what I eat when it comes to changing seasons. Have a good day

No, except when it's really hot, I might eat more ice cream than when it's cold and when it's cold, I might eat/drink something warm more often but otherwise no.

Weather does play a role in my menu and what I'm hungry for too. For instance I won't make a meatloaf in the oven during the summer because I don't want to tax the air conditioning since its always hot here. Cooler days like today are meant for baking and for soups or stews. Often on really cold days I'll bake a cake or cookies and we will have beef stew or chilli for meals. Today it was cold here so we had hot soup and a sandwhich for lunch. Dinner was a hot bowl of goulash. If its just too hot to cook at all we will either grill or have chef salads and fruit salads for meals. Or cold homemade submarine sandwhiches. As for ice cream and fruit juice - I like it year round.

yes accrding to whther i change my food habit. in the winter there are different vegeteables in themarket so the recepie is sifferent. in the summer they are few other different vegs so its different recepie at home. i think its a good idea to change your recepie accordingly . thats why you stay healthy with the vitamins in it as well as the food you are going to have is much cheaper...:)

I am not the kind who bother much about the food and the weather. I dont change menu according to weather. Actually i believe that by the change of season the menu itself gets changed as new seasonal vegies are available with change of season and weather

Yes..in the winter when it's cold out I make more comfort foods like stews..soups and probably a little heavier type meal...like more roasts with potatoes etc. In the summer I do like more salads...and cold foods.

I am like you. I pretty much eat whatever I want no matter what season it is. In the winter, we do tend to have soup a little more than in the summer. It just feels good to have something hot on really cold days. But, in general, we eat the same things no matter what the season.
