Did you know that there are moderators on mylot?

In a previous discussion I have been grumbling at having some discussions deleted. Soem mylotters suggested that I should contact the administration for a clarification. That's what I did and I got the following answer: "Im not sure what your discussions were about or what information they contained to give you an answer. I assure you that our moderators only delete out discussions/responses they feel go agains the myLot Guidelines."
I am glad that I got some type of answer, although I still have remained with the same question. Why were my discussions deleted? Did you know that there are moderators on mylot? This was news for me. I did not know that there are moderators on the site.

I'm pretty sure that if there are moderators here, all they do is check on violations that have been reported by members. Either they don't monitor the discussions or there just aren't enough of them to cover more than a fraction. I've seen discussions that have been reported by more than one person, and members who have multiple violations, and nothing is done about them. Just out of curiosity, I've bookmarked some really bad violaters once in a while, to see if they ever get their discussions or their accounts deleted, and sometimes absolutely nothing is done.

Personally I think the word "moderator" is a cop out for a bunch of software programs and some admin personnel with itchy delete button fingers. On other websites the moderators are easily recognised by some symbol next to their IDs this is not the case here on myLot. Some time back there was an individual supposed to be a real myLot sanctioned moderator available to post and responded to discussions and question. This "moderator" was VERY short lived probably overwhelmed with the amount of responses. Then we have also had a few folks who hinted that they were secret moderators for myLot admin. They have also disappeared. One comes to mind who started the myLot police department (MLPD) to ferret out and report cheater etc. He also did not last long as he got banned for cheating (plagiarism)???
It would be nice is there were recognizable moderators here on myLot who were open and above board to give some STRAIGHT answers!

I think the short lived sanctioned moderator had the ID "Crash" but I could be wrong as I said he did not last long enough for me to really remember his name.

As I recall "Crash" was an employee of Mylot and he had a mandate to answer all our questions in a 48 hour time period. I remember the onslaught of questions, and indeed after the two day period he no longer answered questions.

Well at least you got a response, of sorts! Mylot is so big now that it does make sense to have moderators working away and helping out with the smooth running of the site which is no mean feat, I am at a loss too as to why your discussions were deleted especially about your nephew Matthias, normally I have a good judge of what discussions will be deleted and I leave them, that is why I happily replied to your one announcing your new arrival so I was shocked as you were that it was deleted, doesn't make sense my friend.

Thanks for your support. I also try to avoid starting discussions that I am sure that they will be deleted but it seems that sometimes I make wrong judgement. I am sorry that your earnings have been deducted because of me

Thanks I read them and I do appreciate your response. However could my posts be considered as personal milestones? Did I bear a child?

I'm just looking in their perspective right now but this is probably because of the fact that you are still celebrating something. Like for example, posting a discussion about your daughter's birthday. As we all know it's clearly stated that can't post anything about birthdays or anniversaries. Also be careful as well in posting discussions questioning or criticizing mylot rules. I saw a few similar discussions of yours similar to this actually got deleted.
Just a friendly reminder to be careful! As your earnings are also affected with all the discussions that got deleted.

I guessed there might be some moderators since myLot clearly states that they will check every single post. That would be pretty impossible without any moderators

I think I read something like that on the FAQ or TOS, might have been some discussion too. But I remember I've read something like that...

Yeah. There must be some moderators at myLot, who check the discussions. I think there might be some kinda scripts as well, which may generate an alarm bell in respect of the discussions that tend to violate the T.O.S. It is sad to see the discussions getting deleted. But anyway having a response from myLot is something great, I believe. Also, do need to keep a backup of the discussions we are starting?
I am rather surprised to see that myLot could not trace your deleted discussions. Is that true, or they do not want to enter into unnecessary complications! Not quite sure, but as I have said it is good to read some response to any communication.

I did not know their were moderators which are fine, but I do wish they would tell us exactly what the problem was so we don't do it again, it is only right.

I didn't know Ron that there are moderators but if so why there are so many discussions with the same topic but are still here on the discussion panel. I think that for this year MYLOT Admin should be open with us the contributors.

Of course. Well, even though I have never seen them anywhere in this place but I believe that there are moderators in this place. Ever forums has moderators and that's how the admins could make the discussions in the forum neat and clean. And it is not possible for admin alone to do all the moderating stuffs, like deleting the violating discussions or counts the earning for every post. And I believe for a site like this, they would need more than 20 moderators

Hello ronaldinu!I didn't know that mylot has moderators. This one is very helpful. At least we now know that mylot will not immediately delete our discussions. But I still can't understand why my number of responses decreases. I really made sure that every response that I made doesn't violate mylot.

Yeah I did know that there are moderators on mylot. I just wish we knew who they are why do they have to be so secretive. On every other forum im apart of you know who the moderators are. I guess they dont want to get 100's of emails per day which im guessing they would if we knew who they were and would probally make things tougher for them.

I thought they just had software that detected offending words and deleted the entire discussion if one was found. Otherwise, there's no reasonable explanation for deleting an entire discussion when only one or two of the people involved violated the rules.
The fact that real people are moderating is good in a way, but if they are real people like you and I, I don't see why would they not delete only the offending posters and not ruin an entire discussion.

I have always known myLot had moderators and I suspect they are some of the users on this site that have been appointed or offered their time to do the policing!
I can tell a few of the myLotters are probably mods going by some of the discussions they start...
What's even more interesting is that there's mods from other popular money making sites here too... they might even be replying to some of the discussions people make about those other sites dispelling any anxieties people may have about those other sites...

Given some of the discussions that are allowed, it strikes me that you would have had to be pretty racist or be inciting major violence to get canned; which I gather you were not.
Wish your dog a happy new year for me.
