How do you clean your countertops?

Last night after grocery shopping, I was doing up some dishes and started wiping down the counter with my dishcloth. My boyfriend gave me the oddest look and said, "Why are you using that?".
"What else would I use?", I replied.
And with a flourish, he grabs the Fantastik and paper towel and shows me how it's done.
Really? For everyday cleaning? Fantastik?
So what do you use?

I spray Fantastik and then use a dishrag, not the one I use for the dishes or a paper towel, but it has to be a good paper towel, not the cheapie ones we picked up at Superstore over a month ago. Now we got a good brand that does not fall apart when it gets wet. Fantastik works fine. I also use baking soda for the stains since my counter sort of absorbs them. and that works pretty good as well. In fact I use baking soda for most everything.

Yes I do. I usually spray it on, and then I get a damp good paper towel and wipe it. It does a good job and if there is any stains then I will put a little baking soda on the stain and use a damp paper towel. It works quite well.

What's Fantastik?
I use lysol and paper towels on the counters and I mop the floor with bleach water.
My housemate likes to use vinegar. He's probably the first person I've ever seen use it. Granted it's probably less harsh on our hard wood floors, but for the kitchen? Does vinegar really sterilize anything? Certainly makes the house smell bad. lol

I know that lots of people use vinegar, but I can't stand the smell and think that tradeoff would be enough to turn me off.
Fantastik is an all purpose cleaner, similar to Lysol.

I'm working on getting away from all those chemicals so I put some white vinegar in my rinse water for the dishes then after I'm finished washing the dishes I wipe the counter down then rinse out the dish cloth in clear water until it is cleaned of soap then I rinse my dish rag in rinse water with the vinegar to disinfect it, then wipe down the counters.

That has to be it! :) He got all excited when I first brought the Swiffer WetJet home, too. Everything was getting mopped down. Since that day I don't think he's touched it. :)

You boyfriend and I are on the same page. I use Lysol antibacterial for kitchen. When Iam rush lysol pads those that come in the plastic container; and once a week I do clean with soap and water and lysol at the end, yes I like my counters really Clean! Same goes for the bathroom!

Well, usually people here tend to clean the countertops with the dishrag and since that thing never, ever gets changed or washed or anything that really bugs me because it's just wiping the whole counter top down with germs.
I tend to use Lysol disinfecting wipes on the counter when I get the chance. It's definitely a lot cleaner than using the dishrag that's been sitting in the kitchen for 3 months at a time.

I've used those a lot in the past, and it's good for actual housecleaning days, but I change out my dishrag every day and thought that was perfectly sufficient for cleaning up until last night.
Oh well, I guess I'll keep doing it my way and he can do it his when he wants to.

I guess your boyfriend would have a fit if he was here I always use my dish rag and don't tell him I wipe the stove and the range fan off as well. I figure my dish water is good enough to take care of counter germs. Take Care and have a great night.

I use a dishcloth also. I do use bam or fantastic on my countertop every night after dinner. This way it is really clean for the next day. Throughout the day I just use the dishcloth.
You should have said, "thanks, now that I know you know how to clean the counter, it's your job."

*LOL* Good point! I think I have to learn to be a bit more manipulative in regards to household chores. :)

I use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Or some 409 and paper towels. Just depends what is handy. I have also used a bleach and water solution once a week. Just to make certain where I fix my food is clean.

You have to clean those things??
Seriously, using Fantastik for countertops on a regular basis is overkill, and perhaps a bit neurotic. A wipe with a clean dishcloth is just fine. What Fantastik or other such cleaners do is clean to the point of "chemical cleaning". Sure there's no more bacteria after that, but the bacteria come back within a hour, long before you have to use the counter again. What doesn't go away so easily is the chemical film that is left behind.

I use Amway LOC Plus Kitchen Cleaner Diluter in Spray Grip and a microfibre cloth to clean countertops. At first I was using only Amway LOC multi purpose cleaner. It was good but I found that the LOC Plus kitchen cleaner made specially for countertops is even better. With just one swipe, the grease and oil is gone.

Normally, I would use some type of kitchen spray like a generic spray or lysol all purpose spray and then use a paper towel. Now, I use the Lysol disinfecting wipes to clean the counters.
