Any ideas on what 2009 has in store? whether it be about the economy or your personal life do you care to speculate? i think that the economy will continue to dwindle but hopefully obama will put his plan into action over trying to solve the economic problems. he'll only be solving them for us tho & be passing on the debt to our youger generations.

I think in terms of the economy, it's going to be quite bad due to the after-effect of the 2008 crisis. Businesses and companies are going to close down but it will also show which company is the best during this process. Great companies and businesses will be able to go pass and beyond this period.
However, this will not take away the fact that more and more people will end up being jobless. That being said, jobless people tend to be either desperate, or overly daring which can bring pros and cons. The positive side is that they will be more daring to try new things since they no longer have anything to lose. They dare to explore new opportunities and maybe even come out with more useful products in order to survive. For the negative side, people will cut a lot in their daily spending, which will cause more businesses to close down. And some people will not be able to handle the stress and might force to do something stupid.
I expect the overall situation to be better towards the end of 2009 and maybe head for recovery in early 2010.
Besides that, in terms of world peace, I don't think there will be any peace in 2009. People will become more desperate for money and this might end up being manipulated by the evil folks. Terrorism will continue and wars will erupt particularly in the Middle East region. Let's hope that my prediction will not become a reality.

I don't think there is a fix for our economy problems. The way God created this world everything must follow what we call the law of Physics. I call it God's plan for mankind. If you try to defy the laws, what ever you choose to call it, you are only creating problems for yourself and many times a lot of other people. According to this law you cannot get something for nothing. That is exactly what the Stock Market, our banking system and our free enterprise system is trying to do and it will never work. The system is designed to keep everything in balance. We are allowed an honest days work for an honest days pay and nothing more. The unions demanding higher wages and more benefits is strictly against this law.
If we will live in this world as we should and do our best to live by the rules laid down for us everything will stay in balance and we will be fine. If we choose to go out here cheating and raising prices and all this crap then we are asking for trouble. We are now seeing with our own eyes the results of trying to live this kind of life. One way or the other everything will be in balance with or without our help. That's what we are into now. 2009 will no doubt be bad but If things go by the rules 2010 will be a lot worse. This time our economy is going all the way to the bottom and nothing we can do will stop it.
The worst thing we can do is to try to stop a recession. The way we are trying to run this world the longer we go between recessions the harder it is on the people. We have been propping up our economy now for several years lowering interest rates and some other things to give our economy a little boost. These little boosts have only delayed the natural adjustments of our economy. Now we are looking a a very deep crash.
The actual depression hasn't really started yet but it probably will shortly after Obama takes office. Not so much because of what he will do but for the simple reason we are seeing the domino effect and as each domino falls it will take several others with it. A couple of pretty good ones have already fallen and they were the housing market and the banking system. They have already taken a bunch down with them and will take a lot more in the next year. Tighten your belts and get ready. 2009 is going to be a rough one. Another total crash like the last big one will make the 1930's look like a girl scout picnic. Here's a happy thought for you. Hungry people are the most dangerous animal God put on this earth.

In my opinion, 2009 will be a tough year. There are many speculations about its ups and downs. The problems that Obama is facing too multifaceted and complicated that I don't think we can see dramatic improvement this year. But let's hope there will be a small change, let's hope the worst that we will ever see in decades will happen this year, hopefully the first half of this year. If the worst comes, the rebound won't be far.
