I know that this movie/story has been done countless times. It's even been made into a video game! The last remake to this story I saw was the one where all the actors were wearing suits/costumes. Maybe it's time for a remake with CGI, we got Hell Boy, Narnyia, Pan's Labryith, why not Alice?....

I hate it when they remake an original. THe remake is NEVER as good as the original and often far from the same storyline. They did a remake of Lucille Ball's - Yours, Mine and Ours, and it was not only hardly like the original at all, but stupid!!! The remake of Cheaper By The Dozen... the original was so good... but the remake was stupid!! They should just leave the best alone and come up with something new.

Yeah, I do agree that the remakes are never as good as the originals, I just would like to see what Hollywood, of today, would come up with, you know.

All I know is that they tend to put so much of "common day" stuff into remakes of old shows, that it takes away from the original love of the story. WIlly WOnka and the Chocolate Factory - with Johnny Dep vs. Gene Wilder... I didn't see the new one, but I did see the original and it was fun and funny and lighthearted and good... all I heard (and from what I saw) is that they made the Willy character almost scary looking and so abrupt, it took away alot of the silliness Willy was in the original and left kids even a bit scared of that character.
Sometimes, you just can't improve on perfection.

You're talking movie wise, right. From what I heard the people who re made the movie was actually going for the original style of how the story was written. Which did change the atmosphere of the movie. And yes, modernation does get thrown into the mix. Talking bout who Depp said he was basing the his idea of the charactor Willy W. off of. And the real charactor he based it off of did scare kids.

Tim Burton baby! Slated for March 5, 2010! Johnny Depp is the Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter is the Red Queen, Alan Rickman is the Caterpillar. And Crispin Glover is in it too, albeit in a small part as the Knave of Hearts, but it's still Crispin Glover and that makes me smile. It's going to be FREAKING AWESOME! I, personally, am counting the days.

The Official Tim Burton Stalker Club LOL
No, really, the IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes are fabulous sources of information. And Tim Burton has been wanting to do Alice for a several years.
They've already released a promotional shot of Depp in costume. I can't wait to see HBC in hers!

Not hip to either of those, I'll check'em out though. He looks like a rehash of Todd Sweeney!

I think it would be a good idea. Maybe even tell the story with a modern point of view. But, please, please leave out the CGI. I hate it when a movie goes from real action to something with a cartoon-like appearance. I would love to see movie makers go back to the old-school way of making movies.

Yeah, I can agree with your point of view. Leave out the CGI, a different move. Cool.

Actually, Alice in Wonderland IS being remade...where that link...?
It'll be a mix of live action and CGI. Tim Burton is directing, Alan Rickman (Snape from Harry Potter) is set to play the Caterpillar, Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter...where is that link?!

I actually ran across that topic later on after I had started this discussion. At the time I was not aware of the remake at the time. The link? I'm not sure. Some talk is just hype, like I heard Billy Bob Thorten was going to be the new Freddy, not true.(Talking about the Nightmare on Elm St. remake)

I guess if that is what you like then they should. It seems to me that there are too many remakes nowadays. It seems there is never anything new anymore, a movie is just a remake of a classic of before. This is how I feel about the issue. I hope you understand oldmanhorrorfan, happy mylotting and get those numbers up!

Yeah, I agree with you, there are alot of remakes, but maybe with the creativity that people posess today, maybe we could take that story(visiually) a step further.
