I am sitting here, responding to topics on Mylot, when all of a sudden, my chair starts to rock and roll. I do not watch television, so I can not turn it on to be certain, but I am sure that was an earthquake. By the way, I am in California and about as far west as I can go without floating in the Pacific Ocean. Did anyone feel that or is my imagination running wild?

I have undergoed a earthquake last May, It was not as terrible as think, I feel the ground was shaking intensely, even the chairs jumped up. We did not konw what happened at first, when we realized that was earthquake, rushed out by instinct. It was reported that the earthquake did not affect to much, and no one hurt, We only feared of it happened again in night.

Keep release, do not worry, it is not a catastrophic accident, even not harmful,
Maybe the only bad thing is the fear, just tell yourself everything is ok, live as usual, it will decrease the fear which affects you
Is "keep release" right in English? My English is not my mother language

Hmmm, I don't know. I know I don't live all that far from you and I don't think I felt anything. I was watching a TV show on Hulu.com. I can check on the USGS website and find out.

Hi Rozie, yes there was an Earthquake as someone else had mentioned. It was in San Bernadino and was quite strong. I guess we just didn't feel it here in San Diego. Or, at least I didn't.

Thank you so much for the complete information. Now, I do not have to try to find a place to plug up my television. It will be obsolete next month anyway. I will be moving, so I will decide what to do about that then. Thanks again, God bless you.

I am way across the country in Ohio, I didn't feel anything. I have felt an earthquake before here in Ohio, I knew right away what it was too. It was just an itty bitty one, I would not want to feel a big one. Have you always called Cal. home? I have an Uncle that doesn't live far from you. He is in Oxnard, I have some cousins that live in the area too. Be careful Rozie.

Yes, I have been here since birth and have had my share of earthquakes. This is going to sound weird though, we do not have them often enough to get use to them, if you know what I mean. Besides, the aftershock can be stronger than the initial earthquake. Not only that, I heard them say that earthquakes that happened months later were aftershocks. Now that is eerie.

Hello Rozie37! I am not from California so I am not sure if what you felt is earthquake. You know what, my mom told me that to be able to know if there's earthquake, look at the wirings hanging around you and if it's moving, it is really an earthquake.

I am in England and I really hope it was just a little one, nothing serious and they are devastating when they hit,I have seen on the news that California is being hit by fires at the moment the last thing you need is an earth quake as well.Has anyone contacted you to confirm your suspicions we had an earthquake in Folkstone kent last year and that was bad enough my cousin who lives there said it was so frightening and the ground shook,it was the first one in that area for so long no one can remember, the weather is changing all round the world and they reckon the plates are on the move so goodness knows what we will get next, take care .Do you have any shelters to go to? I have heard that houses and buildings on fault lines have to be earthquake proof sincerly hope they stick to building regulations where you are,let us know if you have any more tremours of the ground.

Yes, it was a 4.5 magnitude. I live directly across the street from Santa Monica College. I am quite sure that this would be the best place to go, should I need to evacuate. California is hit with those devastating fires far too often for me.
