I'm sorry I have to air a complaint about myLot. Well it isn't about myLot itself but rather people on it. I know most of us are here to make money. I know I am.
My pet peeve is newer members who answer questions with one word. Usually something unrelated like Hey!
Why can't people read the rules and try to stick to them? Or maybe they do and are trying to get away with something? What are your thoughts and how do you deal with them?
Obviously I don't like it and I report them.

Sadly some people don't read the rules and the classic case is that people sign up to this site expecting it to be a get rich quick site which it isn't and most won't stay the course, most won't hang around to find just how much this site has to offer. To respond with one word answers is not helpful to anyone including themselves, it's not a way of getting money, it's not a way of endearing yourself to people and it's not a way of making friends. Thankfully they are of the minority and you will find that most people who respond will respond with well thought out, interesting and informative responses. I understand your pet peeve but surely those people who respond with one word are the losers and NO they don't get away with it, that I am certain of. My pet peeve is mainly people on Mylot who just 'spam' others. People who only want your friendship so that they can spam you with referral links etc and the amount of people who put referral links in their discussions again against the T&C's. But they know that by the time it takes their discussion to be reported or deleted they would have had a few sign ups, so for them it's a win win situation!

I am a MyLot newbie but I try to answer these discussions fully and never with one word. Its kinda like online honesty or common sense. I haven't really seen too many mylotters that are responding with one word. Obviously if they are responding with one word then then don't plan to be here long. I am a single WAHM who is trying to make some good money online and doing my best. MyLot is a cool site and I hope I can succeed here.

You will succeed here, and make lots of friends and learn a lot. It is a cool site for networking. You are right in your approach and I hope you have a great time here as well.

They do not make any points off of that kind of post, and you are in bounds for reporting them. If they really irritate me I do the same. If it looks like they just have a poor grasp of the language and do not know what to say or how to say it, I might let it slide. Have not seen you in ages. Hi.

I have also discussed this topic before, mail, and I have noticed a slight improvement in the situation. I don't know if some members find themselves at a loss to put their thoughts into proper words or they could just be lazy. I make it a habit to ignore one-word responses. They are not worth my time.

Really? Well, that isn't right. They should be a little more thoughtful about their replies, shame on them. Maybe they didn't read the rules.

I have never reported anyone. The way I see it is that they are hurting themselves only. And if they are doing it without the knowledge of knowing that and without reading the rules, I think the best thing to do is to let them know this and if that doesn't work and you still feel like reporting them will help then that is what you should do.

I believe that every single one of us enjoys getting paid here, but, to me, it's far more than about that. I think we're making worthwhile contributions. People who just go around leaving one-word responses and/or copy-and-paste sentences that they use for generic responses (e.g. I hope you and I get rich here at MyLot.) aren't going to last long here unless they change their ways.
Although I don't report them, I'll leave them a minus instead of a plus.
Of course, if I come across trolling, I'll report that in a heartbeat.

I don't like a one word answer and it is irritating more if it doesn't even relate to the discussion I have started. I like reading responsed that people have taken the time to give a reasonable response and one that is tied in with the discussion that I have started. That is the first thing I did two years ago when I first came across this site is read the rules. If you do that a person can't go wrong. I don't like it but I haven't gone so far at this point to report them. Maybe I should start reporting them.

Hi Maildumspter, Since they are what you call 'newbies' they are new to this site and are just starting to familiarize themselves. We cannot expect them to act like the seniors who knows this site in and out. Though they might have read the guidelines in theory but are yet to apply it in practical. I quite understand how a person when put in a community where everybody seems to be familiar with each other he feels alienated and breaking the ice takes sometimes. We were all once there and now we are 'graduates' of mylot, so we need to give them 'grace period' to feel the kick of mylot. Groom and guide the newbies if possible to be in parallel with us so we will not complain anymore of their lack lustre. By the passage of time they will surely improve in their posts after seeing the work of the seniors here. Give them moral support, once established they might be better off than the 'old horses' LOL

Gosh...
Just kidding. Depending on the violation and whether the person is a newbie or has been here for a while, I will let them know it's a violation and leave it at that, report it or just ignore it.

It sounds as though they trying to comment on as many discussions as possible using the least amount of energy in hopes of a big paycheck. What happens to them when you report them?

I have to say that I agree with you 100%. There are those of us here to make money like everyone else but we also take our discussions seriously. I hate it when someone responds to something I have discussed with a totally unrelated answer. I just have to say that you are making it very difficult for us to keep things running smoothly, the only thing those people are doing is wasting our time because we have to take time out of our writing to report these idiots. Personally I don't vote for people like that, I don't read their discussions and I make sure that they get reported. If you aren't going to take this site seriously, you don't belong here. I hope everyone else agrees with me.

Maybe they think they are helping you out by responding. I am new here and so am just learning the ropes but isn't your earnings increased by how many responses you get to the discussions you have started? So if that is the case, even though they have nothing of substance to add, they could be trying to boost your earnings. At least that is better than thinking they are ignorant and can't formulate a thought. Right?

I am new and I promise you I will never do that. So far I have only answered a few but I am trying to respond from the heart. I love to write and hope this will allow me to exercise and even challenge my abilities. i gather I should report people who do do what you dont like...right?

I think they believe that they are going to be paid for them because they dont read the rules. I dont think they read enough in here to see the warnings from other members or posts like this that explain it. Its a shame, its a big waste of their time when they could post correctly and make money!

Well dear I tell you, if those people's desire is just to earn money here, I assure you they will not earn by posting one word. Ha!ha!ha! Mylot is not a number game. It is a place where you have to post quality posts if you really want to earn. Don't be bothered with people who do that because sooner or later they will ask themselves why after all the thousands of one word posts they posted they earned practically nothing. They will soon learn from experience believe me. It is when they see that posting one word or short one liner is not giving them what they expect that they will go and read the terms and conditions here. Meanwhile, enjoy mylot and forget about them. Or better yet, you can opt to do what I usually do. Whenever someone answers me in one word.I respond back with good advice so he could add more substance to his post so that his effort will not be in vain.

I usually do not waste my time answering one word or one liners. Nine times out of ten the post will be deleted, and I do not want to lose any points over it.
I have seen posts with one liners, maybe three words, or a few words and links to other sites. I usually just ignore them. I think if they are not reported, they are soon snuffed out.

Hm, this is interesting. I'm a new member and have no idea how long the message has to be in order to make money. Is that in the rules somewhere? I always wondered if longer messages made more money. I don't really have a problem responding with one-word, because I naturally write too much.
