Just received some $$$ from Freelance Writing!

Singapore
January 9, 2009 9:42pm CST
I took up a freelance writing assignment from a local company at the end of last year and have received part payment for completing half of the assignment. It's my first payment received this year from writing. I have yet to complete the other half of it by this week and hopefully, I can do that by the deadline to receive an extra bonus. Wish me luck! How about you? Have you received any payments from your freelance writing for this year? What are the tasks you needed to complete? How much are they paying you? Appreciate your response!

Way to go Sydney! Congratulations on that earnings! I bet you're a great writer huh! I would love to try out these sites that offer freelance writing too, I just don't know where to go. I do publish contents for Associated Content and Hubpages, and I do paid posts for BlogToProfit and BuyBlogReviews on my 2 blogs as well (http://littlenicholas.com and http://maplekisses.tabulas.com). But what really made me write pages and pages of high quality papers is my writing assignment from my friend Clark. He's got this "connection" from Dubai and London where his writing assignments come from and he pass them onto me since according to him "I'm his finest resource". . Clark pays depending on the level of difficulty of the writing assignments as well as the number of pages/words. Payments range from $10-100 per assignment though. It's just sad that assignments seldom come nowadays. Ah! I needed extra income!

Online, I mostly write for Triond. I have stopped for awhile in order to complete this assignment. I hope to resume but going to try another site, possibly AC. I also repost my articles on Hubpages. I also blog at Today.com. They have not paid me yet, but I hope that will be soon as well. Great to know that you have some connections. They are important. I got this job from a friend too. He could not do it himself and asked his boss whether I could help. He agreed and I got the contract. This time I'm being paid on a per assignment basis. I don't know what the future holds. This is my first freelance job afterall. Thank you for your response!

HI Gracie, Yup! I blog too. At Today.com, you can earn $1 per blog post, at least for the first month when they will review your blog. Try that one! As for online freelance writing work, I would suggest Elance. Try search for a job there and bid for it. If you are chosen, then you can start your job immediately. The money will be given to you when you ahve completed your job. Very secure! Try it.

Congratulations, Sydney! The best of luck to you, and more power! I'm sure you'll meet the deadline and get that bonus. Freelance writing outside of the web became my bread and butter after I turned my back on the 8-hour office millstone, but the past two years were bad for me. The worst was last year. I have decided that was that, I have reached bottom and now there is no other way but up. Wish me luck, too, please?

Congratulations on your writing success ~ Keep it up! I am a member of HubPages and average about $100 - $150 per month there. I feature them in my profile. Also I've joined Squidoo and will see what happens there as well.

About 30 hubs now. I've been so busy with other things projects that my writing time there has been limited, but I will write more hubs as soon as I can squeeze the time LOL. Being that my time is limited, when I do write I just try my best to write quality content and I optimize it with good keywords. Good Content + Good Keywords can translate into Great Earnings!

I must really learn from you. I probably have about 20 or so hubs, but not earnings as much. Can you show me some of your hubs so I could learn something from there? I'm really lousy at writing keyword articles. I'm trying to learn how to do that. Help me, please!

Hi multimastery, You are doing very well at Hubpages. How do you do that? How many hubs do you have there? I will take a look at your hubs. I have a lot to learn from the master.

Hello Sydney, Congratulations on that! I am not good at writing and it is just not for me. I am only active here and it has been five months I didn't get my payment due to my busy schedule in real life. But, I am happy that this month (the first month of new year), I already entitled for payment. I hope to make it every month this year!

Thank you! I never thought I would go into writing either, but the opportunity came by and I had to give it a shot, even though I know I was busy with my daughter. But if I did not take it up, I don't think I will earn the money I earned. Congrats on making payment! I did too after not making it the previous month. We'll be getting it pretty soon. Yippee!

Hey sydney! That's great! I am looking for some freelance writing assignments. I am going to have to try some of the writing sites to get myself started. It has been a long time since I have tried writing anything so I have to start somewhere. So I think it is about time for me to take a chance and start on the sites that people here have told me about so that I can get started and see how it goes. I hope you make your deadline!

Hi Opal, It's about time you get started. You write very well, I think you can make it. Try writing about things you know first and post them up, then you can venture into those writing on demand types. All the best! I hope I meet the deadline too. That's $150 extra, and I hope I get it.

Wow, congrats. Well, before the new year 4 small review request came so I have to rush to be free new year. And on Jan 2, I received the payment for 4 reviews I have done last month, and just last night I wrote another review. Isn't writing so wonderful? I love it. May your year 2009 be more successful. Cheers.

You're doing well, Jena! You get review requests every now and then? Do you post them at your blog? How do you come to get them? Hope 2009 would be a wonderful year for you to earn more money online!

Thanks for the info. I think I tried to apply but was rejected. Maybe my blog was new then. Should try now, but too busy at this moment. Talk to you again Jena!

Congrats on earning that %$$%. I have earned money through freelance writing and this year mayt be just 50$. I would like to venture more options later after 6 months. Now that I am almost nearing due date, I would not be taking projects anyway. Later I would try digital studio. As you are from Singapore, I would be contacting you to find new venues.

I know you are due this month right? I wish you a smooth delivery. I'm sure there are avenues both of us have not explored and we could share the information. Keep in touch! Have not heard of digital studios though. Are you referring to Demand Studios instead?

Congratulations on your earnings! This is really encouraging, I am also interested in freelance writing, but I am not good in writing, especially in English. I think it's worth to learn, as writing is really a good technique to learn, not only we can earn money from it. I started to write in Helium, I do not really know how it works, I hope I will get familiar with the site, and start earning some money from it, and also improve my writing skills there.
• Singapore
13 Jan 09
HI Kaka, Helium is a good start. I don't write for Helium that much, but if you slowly build up your writing there, you may earn quite a bit of money from the site. If you browse topics on Helium here or read the FAQ there, you will probably understand how it works. Have not been there for a long time... With practice, I'm sure you will be able to write well. All the best!

I haven't done any but have thought about it.. What is the pay rate, is it worthwhile doing the writing.. I am on Mylot off and on all day and only make pennies here, so I would love to find something else to do while online.. Good luck on finishing your assignment before the deadline..

Hi Donna, I never thought of writing as a career, but this may be the start to it. Sometimes we just need to write to see if it's our forte. I started writing for websites like Triond and AC since last year and loved it. myLot is hard work and it's definitely not residual income. If you write for Triond or AC, you post your article once and you get paid everytime people view it, even if they view it the next month or the next year. However, this writing assignment came at a good time. Even with writing online, I do not earn very much. I few pennies at mylot and a few pennies at my writing sites. All in all, I may be receiving $10-20 per month or slightly more if I work really really hard and write some reviews as well. But freelance writing, you can earn much more from the same time you spent online here at mylot and other writing sites. So give it a go! You will never know what opportunities might come by your way. All the best, Donna! BTW, I'm earning S$800 (US$545) for 12,000 word piece and S$150 (US$100) extra if I complete them by this Thursday. I'd better get going. Cheers!

Wow! That's great news Sydney! Good luck! I know you can do it, you're a hardworking blogger and a writer, you got the edge to become successful in a freelance career. I also am in luck nowadays, aside from getting good writing status and rating scores in helium, I have also tried freelance writing and taking up assignments from a company where clients mostly come from abroad. I do research and content writing for academic pieces (i.e. Master's and dissertations). I get paid for per page of work though it's also stressful because aside from intensive research, you also have to be efficient and careful in writing the academic paper. Moreover, there are a lot of workloads being assigned to writers as the company is undermanned. Anyways, it's still a blessing to have a sideline like this, where I can still be with my children at home, look after them while earning too... Goodluck to both of us!! Cheers!

Thank you! It's great to hear other stay at home moms and dads looking for freelance writing jobs online and offline, to stay close to their children. I have never tried writing a dissertation before. Need to put in a lot of effort, especially with quoting references and thinking of own theories and stuff. Gone are the days when I wrote such a piece in uni. But if I'm forced to make money that way, I guess I can still do it. BUt now, I'm just looking for other possible opportunities open to me. At the same time, trying to write a book with a couple of writers, and trying to start a website. I wonder how it is all going to fit in, but trying... All the best to the both of us!

That is wonderful news!! What type of publication is it and what was the assignment about? I used to do a column on dance for a local newspaper but that was quite a few years ago. I have not really written for pay in a long time. Congratulations!!
• Singapore

Thank you, Janet! I'm writing lesson plans for GP paper. Not pretty exciting and glamorous as your dance column though. But the important thing is I'm quite familiar with the requirements being an ex-school teacher. It is actually drafts for online website to teach GP. Important thing is it pays!

Hi iakul, I saw you in another discussion and I have not heard from you in a very long time, I thought. I thought I have missed some of your discussions. Where'd you go? Thanks for dropping my blog. It has not been updated in a long time, have been busy with this assignment and I just heard from them that my work had typo and grammar errors, very disheartening indeed. Wonder if I would get anymore assignments after this. Miss you

Thank you insulin! Don't give up! There are legit sites that pay freelance writers. One of them is Elance. Have you tried bidding for a job there? The one I received payment for is actually an offline writing assignment. I got it through a friend, so kind of him to recommend me. He knew that I was staying home looking after my daughter and could do with a little bit of cash. So grateful to him! I will definitley try online jobs too soon. If I come across any good sites, will inform you. All the best!

Nice to hear that you get paid, i have always wanted an assignment of freelance writing but am always busy with my university exams or other stuffs. I heard we can do freelance writing online and get paid online but is it advisable to take project online?. And if you are doing writing freelance online than please help me out with the links that they really pay because i heard most of them are scam. Anyway good luck in the future in tour writing Sydney.

I don't see why you can't take projects online. There are legitimate sites that will help protect both writers and their buyers. I have not tried freelance writing online, but I have tried getting some writer to write for me through this site called Elance. I will be looking out for opportunities there as well, if I ran out of offline assignments. All the best!

You tried freelance writing at some local office, and I tried it through internet. Thus there is a lot of difference. I couldn't earn a penny. I am disappointed with that. They would always find out some flaw in my writing. But till date I didn't try contacting any local company. Anyways it's good to hear that you have been successful. I wish you the best of luck.

I guess there must be a lot of difference. One thing the pay is different online and offline. YOu get paid better offline. But I did not apply to the company. My friend recommended me to his boss, and I got the job. I'm quite lucky there. I think that it is possible to write online and offline. I will definitely try online freelance writing if I can't find anyy jobs offline. Have you tried Elance?

I have been writing reviews for Ciao(UK)and have been paid for the number of readers to those posts. But writing product reviews tends to be hard work unless I feel particularly passionate about the product. Many members write about bars of chocolate and ordinary everyday stuff you can buy in the stores. But I feel that is not something that I can do at all because it feels like writing an advert. I write mostly about personal development and have blogs that I had attached affiliate links to, usually Amazon books, that I get a small commission if visitors buy my recommendations. I have some other articles in EzineArticles, Hubpages and Helium. I find these are good for back-links to my blogs that bring in a little more traffic. What I have found though, is blogs and articles needs to be constantly updated and sometimes I get a touch of writers blog, and I just have to wait for that to go... :-) Derek

Hi Derek! At this moment, my blog is on hold until I finish this writing project, or I;m not going to get paid for the rest of it. I'm also writing some reviews, blogs and articles. But like I said, all on hold, until I can clear this one big thing off my mind. Got to go and finish it up now! Thank you for dropping by my discussion!
