We always stress upon the need for good health to prolong our lifespan. We employ every possible method to keep ourselves fit.Exercises, gym, yoga, dieting, habitual restrictions etc are a part of it.But don't you think a good sound sleep is equally essential for good health. Not only it relaxes our minds but also our bodies. So what do you think, how important is it to sleep ?How much should one sleep in a day ?

It very much depends on the mode of living or the lifestyle of an individual. For persons doing heavy tiring work, I think they should sleep for at least 8 hours. Also studies and books recommend 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep for waking up freshened. I myself sleep for 6-7 hours a day, but it is a different story on holidays. There are many persons who manage with 6 hours sleep and don't feel much stressed. So what I have concluded that it is an individuals' need and varies from person to person.

Though it depends on the amount of work a person does in a day, there is a minimum that one should sleep to keep his body functioning normally. Or else body will wear out in the long run and that very much reflects on the face of that person, for example if you slept for 2-3 hours last night, your friends can easily work out that.
Our body needs enough sleep and one should give it time to rejuvenate after every day's work. I think students like us can manage with 7 hours of sleep and that would be just enough.

I think the best hours is six hours I would be very lucky if I can have eight or six hours of sleep but I am really trying to get that long sleep but really impossible because I'm so busy. I still long for the time that I can have eight hours of sleep.

It actually depends on person to person. An infant needs 16 to 20 hours sleep whereas the need of sleep decreases with advancement toward youth. Agains for old people, its necessary to take enough sleep. On an average a healthy person needs 6 hours' sleep atleast.
Proper sleep is vital for a healthy mind and body. It relaxes our mind and body and keeps us fresh and energetic for the entire day. If you have a proper sleep, you canconcentrate your mind better to your other works, and perform very positively.
To have a good sleep, we should fix our sleeping time. Its best if we sleep on regular sleeping time that is in nights because our metabolism suits best to it. However, for people who work in night shifts, they need to accomodate more sleeping hours in their routine, in order to compensate for the night hours

I think a good night of sleep id very important to our health and work more effectively throughout the day. However, achiving good sleep is becoming my dream recently because I am very busy with my work and study, sleep becomes less of priority for me. I only sleep 4-5 hours a day. I look forward a long long holiday....

I agree that sleep is essential. One could even say critical, because the body uses that time to repair what stress and use have worn or hurt during the day. The mind also uses that time to heal and work through things. It's said that those who get too much sleep or those who don't get enough, lose contact with reality. That said, how much is enough depends on the individual. Some people need almost twice as much as others. If you have trouble waking up with an alarm clock, the chances are that you're not getting enough sleep.

Hello friend, Abh. I think that it is enough to sleep for about eight hours to have enough energy for the day's activities. But usually I don't have that many hours' sleep as I sleep late in the evening at around 10:30 or 11:00p.m. I think that it is a bad habit for me to sleep that late. During holidays I sleep late and get up late.

for me i think 7-8 hours of sleep is recommended. Sleeping for too long or too short is not really good for health i think. Same goes to sleeping very late at night, for example 4 or 5 am which i always do. After i heard from someone that if i continue to live like that, my kidney will suffer form failure...not sure if it's true but nowadaya i tend to force myself to sleep at 12 or 1....

I agree with you, sleep is just as important as any fitness routine. It keeps our bodies healthy, as it gives us a chance to 're-charge'. I think the amount of sleep needed per day varies between individuals. However I believe that each of us need between 6-9 hours a day
