I have the healthiest relationship with my father. In fact he was the person who most impacted my life. He is no more now. He passed away in April 2006. He lived a Vedantin's life. We[Three of us Chikldren] have been given some of our best values by him.He was a friend(I could be very free with him on any subject at the appropriate age however), philosopher(He had a very clear philosophy of life that he inculcated in us children) and guide(Even in areas that may not have been his best experience we would love to listen from him, how he would decide if he were in our place.)
We were never afraid of him as in the case of a typical household. It is not that he did not have his weaknesses(more than weaknesses I would call them his frailities. It was not that every one of his ideas were liked by us. We would only silently not apply those thoughts or actions of his which we found offensive or not in keeping with the life-philosophy current for our times. The greatest thing we enjoyed in our upbringing under his tutelage was the right mix of freedom and restriction. Sometimes we have even learnt late in life that perhaps his ways were better, and we haven't benefitted from his approach. That we had mistakenly thought that his methods do not apply to the present generation!

Yes drunken fathers are not good.I don't have a healthy relationship with my father. We speak very less to each other. If i want something them i ask him.He doesn't give me the things i like .If i want to enjoy something like a gaming system. He wants me to earn and buy it.

you are very fortunate to have such a wonderful father, sadly though many of us dont....My adoptive father was sexually abusive to both myself and his biological daughter (I got the worst of it though)...Be thankful for what you have, cherish it always.

yup... i do have a healthy relationship with my dad.. despite the fact that sometimes i really just want to wring his neck.. because of his MCP-ness and his stubbornness.
But yes, my dad takes good care of the family and provides as well as he can. When he meets with financial problems, he too try not to burden the rest of the family with his problems...

I have a very loving father and also a very loving mother. I must say I'm very fortunate to have them as my parents. Most of my friends said my friend looks more like a good friend of mine from the way we go out together and talk to each other. I think this kind of relationship is pretty healthy and there isn't much gap between both of us.
