I received this from one of my friends. Home remedies have always been something that I like to try. In our grandparents day there was a need for homemade remedies. They worked for them, why not use them now? Just remember that you should always consult a physician if you have a serious health problem. NO AUTHORITATIVE SOURCE WILL CONFIRM OR DENY THESE CLAIMS. SNOPES CLASSIFIES THIS AS "UNDETERMINED" AND UNDER INVESTIGATION. AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED IT'S PROBABLY HARMLESS AND DEFINITELY TASTY. HONEY and CINNAMON ~ I Bet the drug companies won't like this one getting around. Facts on Honey and Cinnamon: It is found that a mixture of honey and cinnamon cures most diseases. Honey is produced in most of the countries of the world. Scientists of today also accept honey as a 'Ram Ban' (very effective) medicine for all kinds of diseases. Honey can be used without any side effects for any kind of diseases. Today's science says that even though honey is sweet, if taken in the right dosage as a medicine, it does not harm diabetic patients. Weekly World News, a magazine in Canada,in its issue dated 17 January, 1995 has given the following list of diseases that can be cured by honey and cinnamon as researched by western scientists: HEART DISEASES: Make a paste of honey and cinnamon powder, apply on bread, instead of jelly and jam, and eat it regularly for breakfast. It reduces the cholesterol in the arteries and saves the patient from heart attack. Also those who have already had an attack, if they do this process daily, they are kept miles away from the next attack. Regular use of the above process relieves loss of breath and strengthens the heart beat. In America and Canada , various nursing homes have treated patients successfully and have found that as you age, the arteries and veins lose their flexibility and get clogged; honey and cinnamon revitalize the arteries and veins. ARTHRITIS: Arthritis patients may take daily, morning, and night, one cup of hot water with two spoons of honey and one small teaspoon of cinnamon powder. If taken regularly even chronic arthritis can be cured. In a recent research conducted at the Copenhagen University, it was found that when the doctors treated their patients with a mixture of one tablespoon Honey and half teaspoon Cinnamon powder before breakfast, they found that within a week, out of the 200 people so treated, practically 73 patients were totally relieved of pain, and within a month, mostly all the patients who could not walk or move around because of arthritis started walking without pain. BLADDER INFECTIONS: Take two tablespoons of cinnamon powder and one teaspoon of honey in a glass of lukewarm water and drink it. It destroys the germs in the bladder. CHOLESTEROL: Two tablespoons of honey and three teaspoons of Cinnamon Powder mixed in 16 ounces of tea water, given to a cholesterol patient, were found to reduce the level of cholesterol in the blood by 10 percent within two hours. As mentioned for arthritic patients, if taken three times a day, any chronic cholesterol is cured. According to information received in the journal, pure honey taken with food daily relieves complaints of cholesterol. COLDS: Those suffering from common or severe colds should take one tablespoon lukewarm honey with 1/4 spoon cinnamon powder daily for three days. This process will cure most chronic cough, cold, and clear the sinuses. UPSET STOMACH: Honey taken with cinnamon powder cures stomach ache and also clears stomach ulcers from the root. GAS: According to the studies done in India and Japan , it is revealed that if honey is taken with cinnamon powder the stomach is relieved of gas. IMMUNE SYSTEM: Daily use of honey and cinnamon powder strengthens the immune system and protects the body from bacteria and viral attacks. Scientists have found that honey has various vitamins and iron in large amounts. Constant use of honey strengthens the white blood corpuscles to fight bacteria and viral diseases. INDIGESTION: Cinnamon powder sprinkled on two tablespoons of honey taken before food relieves acidity and digests the heaviest of meals. INFLUENZA: A scientist in Spain has proved that honey contains a natural 'Ingredient' which kills the influenza germs and saves the patient from flu. LONGEVITY: Tea made with honey and cinnamon powder, when taken regularly, arrests the ravages of old age. Take four spoons of honey, one spoon of cinnamon powder and three cups of water and boil to make like tea. Drink 1/4 cup, three to four times a day. It keeps the skin fresh and soft and arrests old age.. Life spans also increases and even a 100 year old, starts performing the chores of a 20-year old. PIMPLES: Three tablespoons of honey and one teaspoon of cinnamon powder paste. Apply this paste on the pimples before sleeping and wash it next morning with warm water. SKIN INFECTIONS: Applying honey and cinnamon powder in equal parts on the affected parts cures eczema, ringworm and all types of skin infections. WEIGHT LOSS: Daily in the morning one half hour before breakfast on an empty stomach and at night before sleeping, drink honey and cinnamon powder boiled in one cup of water. If taken regularly, it reduces the weight of even the most obese person. Also, drinking this mixture regularly does not allow the fat to accumulate in the body even though the person may eat a high calorie diet. CANCER: Recent research in Japan and Australia has revealed that advanced cancer of the stomach and bones have been cured successfully. Patients suffering from these kinds of cancer should daily take one tablespoon of honey with one teaspoon of cinnamon powder for one month three time s a day. FATIGUE: Recent studies have shown that the sugar content of honey is more helpful rather than being detrimental to the strength of the body. Senior citizens, who take honey and cinnamon powder in equal parts, are more alert and flexible. Dr. Milton, who has done research, says that a half tablespoon of honey taken in a glass of water and sprinkled with cinnamon powder, taken daily after brushing and in the afternoon at about 3:00 P.M. when the vitality of the body starts to decrease, increases the vitality of the body within a week. BAD BREATH: People of South America , first thing in the morning, gargle with one teaspoon of honey and cinnamon powder mixed in hot water, so their breath stays fresh throughout the day. HEARING LOSS: Daily morning and night honey and cinnamon powder, taken in equal parts restore hearing. Remember when we were kids? We had toast with real butter and cinnamon-sugar sprinkled on it! And I have to take pills for my diabetes and high blood pressure. This is so much better. Too bad the price of honey doubled in the last month or so. I guess it does not hurt to try. I wonder how much can be taken by diabetics. And that part of me having a long and vigorous life, well I do want to live for a while in my own home.

Going through your article, I thought it is by my fellow countryman--Indian. I was surprised but very pleased to find that it is from an American.Thank you, butterfly, for this contribution. It is very useful. We in India are prone to use such homely 'medicines', if I may call them so.it is interesting to note that most of these ingredients used are present in Indian kitchens---what are generally referred to as spices elsewhere. These are used for common ailments like cold, cough, rashes, indigestion etc.for not only adults but children too.And my experience is that they are very effective. You named honey. Similarly another very popular item used is the leaves of TULASI plant.I ca't give you the Latin or English name just now.Another tree of which almost all parts are used for medical purposes is the NEEM.Part icularly, ITS leaves and fruits. So you started an interesting and very useful discussion. Thanks again. In fact AYURVEDA, the ancient Indian medicine system, uses different plants.

Wonderful post! Thanks for sharing. Honey has been recommended for all sorts of ailments from time immemorial. Indeed, Prophet Mohammed used it often, and recommended it to his followers in those days. Cinnamon and honey in combination is also recommended for GERD (GastroEsophagealRefluxDisease). Unfortunately, if care is not taken and fake honey is used instead, all the envisaged desired results would not be achieved, and could even lead to some undesired outcomes. It is, therefore, necessary to make sure that one uses pure honey.

Wow! Don't know if any of these actually work but I'm going to try a couple of them. I remember that when I was growing up that my Grandmother used to give me a tablespoon of honey, cinnamon and whisky to cure a cold. I do remember cinnamon toast. I can almost smell it now. DH and I both have a cold now and I'm going to try the home remedy. Thanks

Thanks a lot for this great post. I am a strong believer in honey as a sweetner. Especially raw honey. It helps with allergies and colds. I will definitely be combining the two from now on.

As I'm sitting here typing this I can look over and see my big bottle of un-opened honey that's just sitting on a shelf doing nothing, (it was a Christmas present from my sister), and on another shelf is a big tin of powered cinnamon, so after reading your post, I sure as hell will put them to good use, thank you very much!!

There are more things besides these that either honey or cinnamon have been good for. I like the mixture of honey and cinnamon better than honey and vinegar for various ailments. I just believe that if we use more flavorful foods and seasonings all day long we will feel better, be healthier and eat less. Yes, I still use real butter quite often. We had oleo growing up. I also like real mayonaise.

Interesting post. I love cinnamon and its good to know that it has medicinal value. Come to think of it, eating cinnamon can actually help cure some types of diseases. That is really cool considering that I love eating cinnamon rolls. LOL The bakeshop down the street sells mouth watering cinnamon rolls. My husband and I always but some of those rolls on our way home. Our son also love the rolls.

OK, that's a long read and I don't think I skipped anything, but I didn't see diabetes on the list. While most natural healers don't recommend honey for diabetics, I've read one source that says honey and cinnamon mixed will lower blood sugar. Thanks for that great article!

Some Of My Dad's Honeybees - Some of my dad's honeybees.
Oh Wow! My dad is always telling me about how honey is so good for you. He has his own beehives and makes his own honey. I have some here, I will have to try some of the things you have listed. This is so interesting and I know he would think so too.

Thanks for that list. I am going to refer to it again. I was always aware of the healing properties of honey but not cinnamon. Have you tried any of these? I am interested in the cure for fatigue. Thanks again.

I love home remedies, way back when thats what everybody had to use. I do know that honey does have lots of benefits, I have also heard that cinnamon also has lots of benefis, mix it together and wow. Here is a caution, babies under a year old are not supposed to have honey, there is something about it that is very dangerous. I have also heard that you can sprinkle cinnamon where ants come in, that is supposed to repel them naturally.

I love cinnamon toast. It brings back such wonderful memories. Thanks for posting this, although I had seen it before, it brought back the topic in my mind. I am saving this copy, I didn't have the other saved, so thank you again. It is amazing how simple home remedies can cure such terrible ailments. I am always for the home remedy over modern medicine. Our grandparents and great grandparents really did know best.

I have always heard that honey was good or was used for different things but didn't know about the cinnamon. I am curious to see if anyone on here uses these two on a regular basics and if so if they work. I also wonder if it would work for my daughter who has fibromyalgia. It might since it works for arthritis pain.

wow! What a fantastic post. I believe in home remedies too and have a peppermint plant outside of my front door. I regularly make peppermint tea to relieve gas or any intestinal problems. I also drink cinnamon tea but have not had it with honey. As I have cardio problems, I am going to take this much more seriously - I also have high cholesterol. I adore ginger tea and also garlic tea made with fresh ginger and garlic. and yes, I sleep alone! I also have an aloe vera plant and plan to start taking some of that nightly in juice to clean out the intestinal tract. whilst I agree with all of the above, I cannot work out how the hearing could be restored. Does it say how this works? Would be interested in knowing. Excellent posting! Blessings

These all sound really good, I'll have to try some of them out. I have never tried honey and cinnamon for anything but my father-inlaw used to honey and vinegar for a sore throat. He mixed equal parts of the honey, vinegar and water to gather in a jar and when he had a sore throat he would take one teaspoon at a time. It really works, I've tried it. One of my sister-in laws had me to try this remedie out that a older person had told her about. I had heart burn real bad and didn't have any thing to take for it. She told me to go and get a pine needle and chew on it. I couldn't believe it, it really worked! With in a few min. my heart burn was gone!
