I haven't had one of those in a long time. I had a Uncle Gene that made them for us kids all the time. But lord that has been...hmm 28 years ago..I have however made peanut butter and banana sandwiches I made some about 5 months ago. I flattened the bread some with my hand and then smoothed on peanut butter them peeled a banana and layed on top then took on end of the bread and rolled it up over the banana and then cut into slices and it looked like sushi you can add raisins but they aren't a favorite it mine..good iron though.

I knew that Elvis like peanut butter and banana sandwiches but didn't know that they were grilled. I had a peanut butter and banana sandwich the other day but now I'm intrigued and will be trying it grilled. I have some bananas and when they get a little riper thats what I'm having for lunch if my granddaughter doesn't eat them first.

I have never had a fried peanut butter and banana sandwich. Are they really as good as you say? How do you make them. Do you just put everything on the bread and the fry it in a frying pan? I am not to crazy about bananas but I will have to try this one.

In a small bowl, mash the banana with the back of a fork. Set aside.
Step2
Heat a skillet on the stove over very low heat. You can turn this on just before you make the sandwich, to allow the skillet to heat slowly. Grilled sandwiches cook better over very low heat.
Step3
Take one slice of white bread (you can use wheat, but Elvis liked his sandwiches on white bread) and smear it with the mashed banana.
Step4
Take another slice of bread and smear it with peanut butter. Put the two slices together to form a sandwich. Lightly butter one side of the sandwich and place into the skillet.
Step5
While the first side is grilling, butter the side that is still facing up in order to prepare for when you flip it.
Step6
Check the side that is grilling by lifting it slightly with a spatula. Depending on the heat, this could take between 2 and 5 minutes. Remember that slower is better, but be careful not to burn the sandwich. When the first side is golden brown, flip it and grill the other side.
Step7
Cut lengthwise and serve immediately.

A little fattening, I think. As I recall the King, Elvis, liked his banana mashed in the peanut butter. I thought I remembered a story about a airplane trip with Elvis and crew just because he wanted a certain restaurant's peanut butter and banana fried sandwich. I might be wrong about that.

Wow. I have never heard of those before. How do you fix them? Do you butter the outside of the bread and spread your peanut butter and sliced bananas in the middle and fry them in a pan like you do grilled cheese?

How do you fry a pb and banana sandwich? I always make banana sandwiches, so would like to try this as something different.

Maybe I should try 1.
I like Bananas and Peanut Butter so why not fry it all up and make it extra fattening.
