hi all! we all know that LCD monitors require less power than a conventional CRT monitor of the same screen size. but i'm curious... how much energy will you save if you use an LCD monitor instead of a CRT monitor. and how much dollars will you save from all that energy savings? thanks in advance!

I thought LCD monitors will consume less energy compared to normal CRT monitor because when I have seen in my friends computer I am getting more radiation from LCD monitor the time I felt it is more energy consuming.

hi there nareshreddy68! thanks for posting a response to this discussion! and thank you for that very nice insight regarding CRT and LCD monitors. come to think of it, in terms of heat radiation, i feel more heat radiation from CRTs compared to LCDs. it probably means that LCDs may consume less energy compared to CRTs. but with the prices of LCDs, i think a very good modern-day CRT would be a good alternative. =) thanks and happy mylotting!

Not much. CRt or LCD monitor consumes very less power. earler when crt was tube based then consumption was higher but then like tv crt also comes with ttl logic and so there is no much difference between crt and lcd power consumption

hi there jabaz007! thanks for posting a reply to this discussion! and thanks for the additional information. i had no idea that current CRT monitors have significant improvements over older CRT monitors. maybe on my next computer upgrade plans, i would choose either a good LCD or a very good modern-day CRT monitor, since both of them are energy efficient. thanks and happy mylotting!
