I am thinking about joining weight watchers. I am about 80lbs overweight and have a lot of things I would like to be thin for but mostly be healthy again. I weigh 20lbs more than I did after I had my daughter and it is upsetting. I know what foods to eat I am just not sure how to eat them anymore. Also, I just was diagnosed with diet control diabetes and would really prefer not for it to turn into full blown type 2. I am at risk for a lot of health issues at my current weight and I always hear good things about weight watchers. since I am poor my mother who worries so much is going to pay for it for me, so i really have to commit. But anyone currently or used weight watchers in the past? It would help to hear success stories.

DIETING? (alone) for me is not the answer for weight watchers or to those who want to loose weight. Why? Simply because you deprive your body to nutrients that are essential to your body. Yes, you will loose weight but eventually your body will crave for it. What you need to do is to have a diet plus exercise to tone your muscles and burn all that fats in your body.

From what I read and from the one person I know personally who does do it you are not depriving your body of anything but junk. You are actually eating the same foods just healthier options. Like brown rice instead of white, which I currently do. and so on. I do exercise, but with the diabetes I have to have a specific diet and I am not sure where to start. Because it is hurting my weight loss alot.

My mum and I have used their program. My mum has stopped using it. I shortly stopped using it. However I try to make good choices still. It's a good program because they allow you to each various types of food. They give you lots of encouragement & support. Their website has a lot of ideas for meals & recipes. Many frozen dinners (if you eat them) such as Healthy Choice, Lean Cuisine, Smart Ones, Lean Michlean's already have the Weight watcher points on the package.
For each person (they answer a series of questions) they get a weekly point allowance plus they get extra points. Each food you eat has a "point value" acessed to it...which is determined by its fat, calorie, and fiber content. I believe they offer other options, too. You have to keep at it so you can keep the weight off. If you have higher blood sugar, exercise can help you, too.
Cheers!

weight control for me is an all the time program. I hate the word diet because it almost sounds like it limits to this certain period of time...No. It is an all the time combination of proper foods, excercise....ect...and the best way I found to deal it with it, is to approach it one day at a time....Its much less overwhelming...and keep the good veggies and the fruits,, salads available...learning portion control will enable you to still have many things that you want....secret tip.....you can cheat every once in awhile but you cannot cheat everyday and succeed. Being aware everytime that you eat of how much and what you are putting in your mouth.....and never eat when watching tv ect....Best of Luck!

I am very overweight over 100 pounds overweight. I started weight watchers in October and I have lost 22 pounds and 1 pant size! It really, really works. You won't be hungry or feel deprived. It has also helped me to go to the meeting to hear from other members what works and what doesn't. My sister started weight watchers over a year ago and has lost 70 pounds and is still on the program. I like weight watchers because it is a lifestyle plan that you can follow rather than a diet which you will be on for a few weeks and then be fed up with. This is my forth month and I plan on sticking to it until I am thin and healthy. I have tried many, many other diets to no avail, but weight watchers has helped me. Good luck to you, try weight watchers it really works. And keep us updated on how it goes for you.

I don't have weight problems and never had the pleasure of joining weight watchers. It is always a good idea to think about your weight and how it can affect your health. Cheers!!

I haven't used weight watchers but i must say that weight watchers is based on points but really its just calorie control to lose weight you have to burn more then u consume remember that. When I had my kids I was about 60 pounds heavier then what i should have been but I lost it do to cardio 5 days a week for 30 minutes and eating 1000-1300 calories a day and I didn't always eat what was healthy for me I still ate candy and cake in my daily plan and neither did I stop eating a food all together. My weight came off I must say very fast and I never was weak and hungry you just have to drink a ton of water but i do wish you the best of luck........Great Day!!

hello...and good luck...I hope you do great what ever way you choose to lose your weight. I myself am trying to lose 30 poundsand have already lost 6 pounds and an inch off my waist...I am not in weight watches I have just cut out ALOT of surguray High in fat foods...and started exercising...I enjoy working out just was saying I didn't have the time...but I do...I found thie great website called prevention.com...you can sign up, its free and they have calorie counters and all kinds of tips and pointers...plus exercise vidoes!!!!Makes it so much easier...I have found this site about 2 weeks ago and I am still finding new vidoes to try and believe me they work!!!You can set up a blog space and a profile and talk to other people...It is the same as weight watchers only you have to keep track of your food you eat and there isn't a point system....that being said if your mom is willing to pay for it I would try it and get all the information you need and use the website as a second little motivation...plus I started watching the biggest loser and all the other shows on tv like that!!!it has helped me and I feel more motivated to lose more now that i have some measurements going down....
Also I have a friend on weight watches...she has lost 70 pounds since the summer...she looks great...her goal is 100 and she is almost there...but you have to realize that this is a lifestyle change...it has to be permanent...not just for a few months!!!!
Once again good luck in whatever you choose but give the website a shot...is awesome!!!

Yeah, I am that point where I need a lifestyle change. I used to be really healthy and after I had my daughter I just lost a lot of my healthy habits. I also want to have a healthy family you know. So like you said if my mom is willing to pay. ;) why not try. at least. I think I am considering this now because I was on sparkdiet.com which sounds like what you are using on prevention. But I was not being responsible enough to track everything. I think with the weekly meeting I will have the extra motivation I need to get back to my old self and once I see that even though it is work it can be done I can do it again without so much trouble. See I am not so much an overeater or anything like that I just don;t eat which I know is a problem. And I don't do it on purpose I just forget. So thanks for you well wishes and congrats on your success so far and good luck to you in the future.

Good luck. I'm 20 lbs overweight and I joined weight training. I got a good caoch and he gives out good work outs. I'm trying to turn my fat into muscle. Its not going too well though because I just dont have the motivation to keep going. All you need to do is go to the gym, I dont know about weightwatchers, but I think all they do is tell you what to eat and what kind of workouts to do.
