How Important The Avatar For You?

I have seen here in myLot that some people use avatar and the other don't. Some who don't maybe just don't know how to put the avatar in their settings or they just don't want to put anything in it.
I don't really like putting avatar, the picture is totally my mistake. Deleted it but it keeps coming back. LOL.
But I also noticed that some people use special avatar which make them recognized even they were online in the other forums. I wonder, how important the avatar for you? Would you always use the same avatar for every profile you have in the other forums as well and why did you choose that avatar?

I think the avatar is an expression of who you are. Even those who choose to have no avatar at all it still makes a statement. For me I'm an individual and like to be myself not a number and be unique. SOme people prefer to stick with the crowed I prefer to stand out in the crowed. It's just my character. Most peoples triggers for knowing a person is a 'visual' Names are harder to remember than a picture.
With everyone it's a choice of how they choose to portray themselves online. I have no qualms with people knowing how I look. Besides that that's the only bit of info they'd ever have.
For me the avatar isn't so much as important as the simple statement it makes.

You go against the grain to a degree. You want to know what it honestly shows me? Lack of trust, or self confidence in the internet and people online in general. Some don't want to be hit on while others don't want to be shamed for their photo. Others think that any indication on their photo will lead to identity theft or stalkers. It shows how comfortable one is with the internet and its security. Which is very cruddy at times.
Again I may be off but this is what it shows me. That or you could really care less to have an avatar. And are just too lazy to put one up ;) lol

I would love to put up an avatar, I think the picture kinda represents the indivual and gives you a little insight to the type of person you are talking to, however i havent figured out how to do it here yet....and when I do, I will change it several times a year...they depend on my mood and times of the year....summer, winter, fall... etc... LOL

I like to see others avatars, not just the generic green one here in myLot. I also like to change my avitar, depending on my mood, season, or holiday. I don't have the same avatar for every site, each one is different, depending on the type of site it is. While I think an avatar is a good way of letting people know who you are when they enter a site, I think it is more of a sign of individuality.

Oooh... so you don't use one avatar only. Do you use the same avatar in the other forums or you have different avatar in different place? I met many people who has special avatar, they might made it themselves and make them noticable even they were in the other forum.

I think that an aviator helps people to associae the photo or picture with your personality. it gives you an identity. It is hard to formulate a perception of someone who has a green buddy as his avatr. The avator distinguishes between the newbie and the experienced user as well. I use he same avator and the same nickname for all forums that I participate in.

I like them. I think the little green guy is wierd and I don't like looking at him. I like to see what everyone chooses because so far even though there are alot of us on here I have not seen the same one twice. I think that is neat.

I like the green guy. And actually it is a white guy, the background which is green. I like the default avatar of myLot because I think the bald guy is very cute LOL. And I enjoyed the default avatar because I feel like it is the trademark of myLot. Isn't it?
