I won! I beat the alarm clock!

This morning, I woke up an hour and got up 15 minutes before my alarm. The 45 minutes before getting up was not a fight to get up but just a gradual realization that I woke up before I was needed to and neither grumble nor moan came out of my lips. I was happy that I beat the alarm clock. And excited to go about my day (yes, I look forward to going to my two jobs today, no lie!)
It is going to be another nice, warm day today. Yesterday I wore slippers out in freaking January!
So have you recently won against your alarm clock AND did not complain about waking up beforehand?
PS- I guess it helps to go to bed before 10pm.
Hope you all are having an enjoyable day!

Show off! Hehehehe. When I lived in L.A. I had a friend visiting from England, and one fine, sunny, warm day he called his friends in England and proceeded to brag about the beautiful day he was enjoying in a pair of shorts and some flip-flops, while his friends were practically buried in snow. I am very pleased that it is not snowing here, but nevertheless right about now I would definitely appreciate the desert!

Yup, I am trying to be positive all the time and it seems to be way much better than sitting around and thinking why such and such is happening to me. I guess this is what they say about holding the bull by its horns. Or to that effect. What is that thing growing outside your door. It is bugging me as to what it's called. At first I thought it was a cucumber but I am not sure but it was just recently that I learned the difference between the cucumber and zucchini. LOL.
Thanks, drannhh. Ziggy! Hope you are keeping warm there!

Oh, I am sorry to hear about the ear infection. Your baby is getting it (as well as you apparently) lately huh (or is it but normal for babies?). First the teething and then now another ear infection. Hope you get some sleep though. And that your baby feels better.
Thank you glords.

How are you glords? I hope Noah's immune system gets stronger as he grows as well.

Some kids get ear infection after ear infection... my son unfortunately is inclined to have them. The doctors put in ear tubes, but since the head grows so quickly during childhood, they fall out. Noah was ear infection free for about nine months... when the tubes fell out... they came back again. Looks like he'll have to get some more put in. I wish he didn't get sick so much. I can only hope that his immune system is getting stronger each time.

The day seems to go better when I wake up before my alarm goes off. Unfortunately today I didn't want to get up and got up way after the alarm and the snooze went off. Enjoy your days at your job. Sadly we are wearing coats, scarves and hats here today. Will get down to about 12 degrees this afternoon.

Tammytwo, we got to San Francisco after 6pm last night and I was still able to walk four blocks without wearing a jacket. I only had jeans on and a short-sleeved top. Others around me were wearing capri pants and summer tops as well. As much as it was nice to be able to do that, it is getting a little worrying as we do need rain and water around here.
I hope you stay warm wherever you are, tammytwo and thanks!

If I had a restless night, I do not think I would be able to make such a positive post. I do not think I would be even posting here on myLot at all.
Thanks, jtr and here's to more times when you wake up well-rested before your alarm.

Right now I'm frequently up before the alarm clock but rather stay under the covers. It's soooo cold out there, lol. Besides that it's still dark. It has one advantage if I beat the alarm clock. I can turn it off and avoid that it wakes up the the whole house. I always keep my fingers crossed that my youngest won't get up before I have seen the girls off to school. Unfortunately that little boy is a light sleeper:(

I hope you are not in part of the US where it's degrees below zero. I always try to turn off the alarm right as it goes off. I do not like to wake other people up with it. Today I was half an hour early again but I had the nicest view to wake up to so that got me excited and I just had to get up and start my day again.
Thanks jonesy and I hope you are having a sleep-in kind of great weekend with your kids.

Ahhhhhhhhhh NOPE! My alarm clock despises me and I despise it in return. The closest I come to beating the alarm clock is actually BEATING it as I grab it by it's vile throat and attempt to choke the very life out of it. LOVE the snooze button though! If it wasn't for the alarm clock's trusty friend snooze button, I would have killed it years back.

Hi Anne,
wow..that's cool! When I was working, I am very paranoid about time...LOL! I always want to report in the office 1 hour in advance or more!
I don't have alarm clock that time!
But, here I guess when I will start working, I will really need an alarm to wake me up, it's just too cold here plus I also sleep late so another reason why I love to sleep longer!

Over where I am, it is chilly in the morning but then it gets nice and warm later on. It still baffles me that it is only but January. I usually do not have to work until 2pm most days but I still get up around 730am-ish now.
But if it is cold and I do not have anything to do, then I would probably hide under those sheets and dream the day away.
Thanks, checapricorn.

I don't know if you ever heard of EST (Erhard Seminars Training), but I took his INTENSE 2-weekend seminar back in the late '70's and have not had to use an alarm clock since.
They started out the seminar with a guy on stage screaming what a bunch of a$$holes we all were, and anybody who came in late was verbally abused in front of the entire room, hehehehe. So, one day I slept through my alarm and at the precise moment that I was supposed to be walking into the training room, a cacophony (hehehehe) assailed my sleeping ears... my roommates baby started crying, the doorbell rang, the phone rang, and a car backfired right outside my bedroom window, all at the same time.
Needless to say I woke with a start, and when I looked at the clock I absolutely panicked... I flew out of that bed and to the hotel practically still wearing my pjs. (I didn't get singled out, hehehe... there were a slew of late people that morning, whew!)
I'm glad you're enjoying your work!
But that experience showed me that I have an 'inner alarm clock', which the physical universe cooperates with. When you go to bed at night, and deliberately decide what time you want to wake up, you will wake up at that time, even if it takes some outside assistance, hehehe. I no longer require such drastic measures anymore, and my eyes just pop open at the time I wanted to wake up. Every time. No matter what time I go to bed.

Oops! The line "I'm glad you're enjoying your work" decided to place itself randomly in the middle of the page, rather than at the end of this missive where I have typed it, hehehehehehe. How do you deal with misbehaving words like that? Send them to their rooms?

That is why I used to not like to be late to my classes because I do not like the "sneaking in but still everybody gets distracted by you" kind of feeling. But I am into the inner alarm clock. I did not set my alarm clock today but still I woke up the same time.
I do not know what to do with misbehaving words like that but yes, they do sometimes pop up when you don't want them to. Maybe have them stay outside for a while and pick up their more trashy cousins?
Sorry it took me a while to respond. I am slowly going through the responses, three at a time a day. Or less.

hey hun unfortunately i'm the opposite at the moment no matter how early i go to bed i toss and turn and the alarm clock seems to simply remmind me that i've only just fallen to sleep and have to get up and go through the rest of the day with cold tired eyes, achey body and the need for sleep that just doesn't appear to be being satisfied. I'm happy for you though you seem in a fantastic mood so the sleep pattern is definately working for you enjoy :)

Mands!!! How are you?????
I am just happy to see you here again. That I temporarily forgot what the topic was about.
I hope you get over the tossing and turning and the aching and the needing for sleep throughout the day. I used to do that as well. It seems like every time I look at the clock it has only moved 30 minutes or so.

I am with you on that one. All this week in fact. But then again, I am up early because I need to divide my wordly possessions in half for my move in February. In addition, the mornings are beautiful. One of the rare times idiot tourists aren't wandering around drunk and stupid. :D

Thanks for responding and take care, jands.

Early rising is a good habit. If you make it habit no need of alarm .I rise early morning regularly and go to nearby park.I walk there for about an hour.I take fresh
morning air.All the day I feel freshness. Night is also enjoyable to me because of deep sleep.

I am usually up every before dawn every day (that's just me) and some days it is harder to get out of bed than others. Not today, I live in Australia and it very, very hot! It is around 40C (104F) right now and at 430 this morning it was already 29C (82F). This morning it was just too hot to sleep in! I agree that getting an early night sure helps with waking up early.

The funny thing is that i normally have it in my head these days that i have st the alarm and invariably land up in beating it by a good half an hour atleast. Look at the time realise i have another half hour and then get back to sleep to be then woken up by the alarm. And that happen no matter what time i go to bed.

Hello alokn... sorry it took me a week to get back to you. Yes, such "phenomenon" happens to me regularly as well but lately, I do not go back to bed, I just get up as trying to go back to sleep within 30 minutes just make me feel tired.
I hope you get to sleep in one of these days without waking up earlier than when you're supposed to. Thanks!

if you go to bed early then you will be able to get up before alarm clock. I always get up at 4am every single day, but I still go to bed at 10pm or 11pm. I can't help it, just hanging on mylot or do something else.

I don't think I can survive on sleep less than 6 hours. I used to do that when I was in school but I don't anymore. Maybe it is age or maybe it is just the realization that my body is much happier if I sleep longer. 4 am!!! I thought I was getting up early!
Thanks, smileonstar.

hmmm--I guess i can never beat the alarm clock not unless when I am not sleeping at all! I work on night shifts and so its really hard to stand up and wake up before the alarm clock is set...I sleep at 10 in the morning and have to wake up at 4 in the afternoon--can't beat it i guess..

Our bodies get used to our different schedules I guess. Right now, I can't stay awake after midnight but before I used to go to bed around 3am.
Well, just as long as you get enough hours of sleep in between. Take care, angel of charm.

Hi there!
I always wake up the same hour every morning. Since I started living alone and decided to have a walk with my pets for their morning rituals I wake up every 6am. No matter how late I sleep I don't get the hard time waking up early. Maybe it's my body clock and I'm so used to it.
I believe its the subconscious mind that tells us to wake up before the alarm sets off. There are instances that I experience waking up before the alarm. Maybe I think I have set my mind before going to sleep that I have to wake at a certain hour and I know that the alarm will set off. As if my mind didn't sleep at all and rather waiting for that hour that I have to wake up. Those instances always happens to me but still I try to set the alarm in case I wasn't able to wake up before the time.
Ciao!

Hello Iskayz... I no longer need the alarm clock... I don't think so. I always wake up before it sets off but like you, I still keep my cellphone alarm handy for instances when I oversleep (which has not happened for a while now).
What kind of pets do you have? I am sure they enjoy those walks with you. Have a great weekend! And thanks for the time.

I have done that, too. About 15 year back I participated in a one act play. In those days, we had to go for rehearsal at 7 AM. I used to wake up at 5 AM and I always set alarm clock to wake me up at 5AM. After a week, I noticed that I waking up exactly at 5 AM sometimes just before 5 AM. I was so excited then.

I agree totally with you on that one! Every now and again, I manage to beat the alarm clock, sometimes by an hour, sometimes by 5 minutes! The majority of the time I feel groggy, and like something you would pick up off the floor with a plastic bag! ;)
