I know Christians and Jews alike have songs of praise to God. I am assuming other religions do to in some fashion.
My question is primarily to Christiams but open to all.
I am sure you praise God for what he does in your life that is good. BUT do you praise him when the chips are down? My hubby just lost his job last week and I was just listening to some praise and worship music and I truly did praise along with the music and when the cd was over I felt better. Have you ever had that happen .... start listening in a not so good mood but are in a good mood by the time it is done?

I praise God at the beginning of my prayers. In fact that is the way the Lord's Pray starts, praising and honoring God and it does not matter whether times are good or bad. You assume that times will get better, but it might not be for a while, or even in this life, I mean is not heaven with God much more better than even the most riches time here on earth?
Now some says that HE knows what is best for us, but I feel that is just too depressing, I say that HE has better things in store for us when we get to eternity.

We have no idea what God has planned and HE always turns what is bad to our benefit. So maybe my husband's stroke may cause my husband to rely more on God then he did before. And maybe God wants my husband to see that I am just as capable as he is.

Too right! He can not stand against us when we join with the heavenly hosts in praising him.

I try to praise God through the rough patches. I think praising his name instead of asking him why and blaming him for the bad things helps more. It lifts you up and helps you feel his presence more than letting the depression get the best of you.

The things i am going through right now or rather from a few months ...... the circumstances that i have been put through ..... by god if i should say so .... i would like to believe that there is no god or i wonder what kind of tests he is putting me through ......
Why would i want to praise him ?......
Rather than praising him there are so many questions i would like to ask him
Why is he making my life so miserable ?
Why is he giving me happiness and joy and then immediately taking it away from me?
This has been happening from so long that now i can be sure there is no god
or if these are stories then i wonder what is the moral of these stories
i would like to seat with this so called god and take a class or two

I am so sorry things are going badly for you. I know it is hard to believe God is there with good intentions. He is though.
It is ok to have those feelings and to express them. I don't know a a single person who believes in God that has not at some time done the same!
Raise your fist and scream "why God????" Then pop in some praise and worship music and let the spirit of God wash over you and bring you healing!
hope you don't mind I will be praying for you.

I think this is one thing that I do need to do more often. I know that listening to praise music, and joining in does lift me up and help me get on top of things. I am sorry about your hubby losing his job.

Thanks for the sympathy. It helps knowing people care.
Turn on some worship music and let the spirit grab you!
One that I really like (and really did not like when I first heard it) is "Mourning into Dancing".

I do that all of the times. I have been out of work for seven months, and it is really tough. I praised God last night at choir rehearsal. Praising Him, that even though I have been out of work, he is still providing all of my needs. When I run out of food, God has put people in my life who have come to my rescue.
Yes, I praise God during the good and bad times.

Isn't God awesome? I love how when we praise him it brings us healing. I listen to many types of music and even my favorites don't uplift me the way praise and worship music can!!

Constantly, I believe that there is a great deal of power in prayer and if your thoughts and actions are in line with the Lord and you are in obedince, the bible says that he will give you the desires of your heart.....I praise him wether they are up or down and pray all the time.....

You are right about saying that everyreligion must be having some songs and poems that is used in daily prayers worship, whare the Lord is Praised. In Hinduism we have what are called are Bhajans - songs to be sung to tune and music which Praise the Lord's Greatness and Grandeur, His Infinite Benevolence and our own smallness and imperfection. We also use Poem-like collections; they are too numerous to recount, where again the Lord is Praised. These are all ready-made by epople who had the gift of a mastery over the language in addition to a personal relationship with God. We call them stotra literature. Some people set these to music and sing too.

I try to praise God in the good and bad, and ask him for the strength to see it through. I have often been in a not so good mood put on some praise music and had the spirit lift me onto my feet to priase him. I always feel better afterward. Isn't it a blessing the God loves us good or bad and is always there when we call on him. Gives us the strength to see it through to another day. I find that people who don't have this, don't understand it. I think if more people could believe, this country would change in such a positive direction.

Hi,I am a christian and 2005 i had a similar experience. one morning after praying with my family and getting ready to go to work, i heard this words clearly in my spirit "you don't give thanks and praises to God for the negative experiences around you but for the things to come". I quickly shared this with my wife and that day as i got to the office i was issued a letter of terminating my appointment. Those words kept us going as a family through all the difficult times.
The best time to praise God is in the mist of difficulties it shows your faith in Him and His promises.

I do praise God in many ways. I pray often to Him and I always go to mass every Sunday.
I have never experienced listening to praise music while in a bad mood and got better, although I have experienced it in another way. I always see signs, good signs which always lifts me up and it's weird sometimes.
