Unknown and comfrotable ,even broke and free to go where I want would be prefered than to unable to go unperturbed to places .Granted I dont go out much anyway and so rich and reclusive could work for me but I value the ability to not stand out and I hate the attention.Money does not mean that much to me

I am the same way, I much prefer to be unknown and free to do what I want and be free of paparazzi watching my every move.
I had a neighbor who wanted to be important so much that she embezzled $30,000 from our home owners association. Needless to say she became VERY important. She finally moved out of the area after she and her husband divorced and no one wanted anything to do with her.

LOL--ever since I can remember, even as a kid I wanted fame, success and Money! Heehee. I'm still working on it I don't know if I would quite want HUGE success like celebrities have as it seems they live in a fishbowl type of existence where every move is being observed but still would like to be acknowledged as a "famous" photographer and writer

I would definitely prefer to be comfortable and unknown also. Having lots and lots of money is not the be all and end all of an existence for one; and who'd want it anyways if it meant that your life would never be your own? Being comfortable means being happy. And being able to live your life without constant scrutiny also means living a life that is free. Easy choice for me!

I am trying to think of a way of having tons of money and being unknown and not having my daughter know I have the money. She is one that there isn't enough money in the world for her.
She had the guts to email me and tell me that she wasn't materialistic...I hadn't heard a bigger load of crap in ages! She went ballistic when their motor home was broken into and a lot of their possessions were stolen. Yet if it was my stuff, it was okay to destroy it and not think twice about it. I am currently refinishing an antique end table that they destroyed the finish on and dug gouges into the wood, even though it was hard rock maple! It seems like every day I find new damage from when they lived with me for nine months.
Also, if you're famous and rich you're going to have tons of "gimme" people with their hands out. I am in the process of writing a novel and I know that I will have people wanting donations and gifts of money...and at the front of the line will be my 35 year old daughter.
I started a kind of fun discussion. You might want to check it out. Here's the URL: http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1872414.aspx?p=0
One warning, if you have a weak stomach or bladder you might want to avoid the discussion. By law I have to add this warning!

Thank you. It is nice to have the funds behind you to do as you please, but being famous would be a royal pain in the fanny to me. Having the money so you know that there is no problems with paying your bills and having enough food is more important to me.

I would way rather be famous and have lots of money, yes you have stress but you can atleast go away on a weekend to mexico or wherever without worrying about money issues.

The only problem with trying to go away on a vacation when you're famous is that you really don't get a vacation! You will be recognized and be hounded by fans. By being in a situation where you're comfortable you can still go on that vacation and enjoy yourself, but you won't be going totally first class.

Being famous is not good at all but being rich can be quite a good thing. However, being rich or having a lot of money is quite subjective. Having a financial net worth of 1 billion might not be rich to some people, whereas to others, having a financial net worth of 100k can be considered as very rich.
For me, I prefer to be unknown and comfortable, but at the same time financially strong so that I don't really have to worry about things related to money. This is particularly important (sadly) since a lot of the things nowadays need money, from the children education to food to housing to insurance. All of them need money. Without money, you will not be able to provide proper needs for your family and thus, will not be able to feel comfortable.
So being famous and having lots of money can be quite different, and being rich with lots of money can be quite subjective.

I much prefer to be unknown and comfortable, that's my ideal life and I'm working towards it. Securing a steady and adequate income, strengthening family bonds and relationships with my girl friend and some friends...etc. I don't like to be famous as personally, I think that being famous means that someone is always asking something from you. You have to live up to other people's expectations when you are famous most of the time.

Either lifestyle seems like it would have it's disadvantages and advantages and I think that I would have to try being famous with a bunch of money before I could make my decision. It looks like a really nice life and all I've really lived so far is the comfortable side I guess. Either way life is life and it's going to be what you make it.

That is an excellent thought, but think about being famous in this world. I would be really concerned about stalkers, sickos and others. Like in John Lennon's case where some idiot who had a thing for another person shot him. Being famous you don't have much privacy and your every move is watched. Even if you don't do anything the tabloids make things up about what you're doing. Give me comfortable any day!

I would want to have the money without the fame. I want to be comfortable but with extra to do things with. I have no desire to be world famous though. I like the idea of having a quiet life.
