I just saw on the news a few nights ago that in Febuary there is a law saying we smokers can only buy fire safe cigarettes whats that all about. Its stupid. we never even heard of the voteing on it. they just passed the law and we have no choice. we cant even buy regular cigarettes after Feb. here. Theres a lot more things causing fires than cigs. its like the world of non smokers are constantly trying to start a fight/war with us. people that smoke was on the news saying they dont taste the same either. they are made to where if you arent drawing on them, they go out. like if your talking or something, you lay it in the ashtray a minute, it goes out. Now its going to be more hassle to find a place to buy cigs, etc. im sure a lot of non smokers that dont understand where im coming from has something to say about this. ok, what?

they do. and isnt it surprising how many people still smoke in spite of it all. that should tell them that we have a problem not easily solved.

I guess that they are trying to discourage all of you to quit any way that they can. My husband quit this past summer and he feels better. He smoked for over 40 years and would complain about such things, too.
Now our insurance rates will go down, after a bit, our house insurance rates have gone down, he is putting the money in the bank and we get to use it to travel and buy things that we could not afford before.
I know it is a choice but I have seen many beloved people suffer horribly from what smoking did to them and it was not pretty. So, even though it may be a hassle, I am hoping that more people become disgusted enough to quit, so they may live a long and healthy life with their loved ones.
:D

I'm a non-smoker. I think they are getting a little out of hand when it comes to those that smoke. If I don't want to be around smoking I walk away I mean hello that's why we have feet. My husband smokes he goes outside when at home. If we go out we sometimes sit in the smoking section not all the time just once in awhile. If I don't want to sit in a smoking section then I don't pick a place that has smoking in it. My husband is trying to quick but that is his choice just like smoking is his choice. As for the fire safe cigs thats a bit much and I haven't heard that hear yet. Can always start rolling your own or fnd a friend in another state that will ship you some if you send the money.......lol

I think the govts. are taking such actions to curb down smoking instead of banning it altogether. I do think that smoking is hazardous to health

of course it is. but no one is going to stop smokers by doing silly things like that.

i WAS going to express surprise and then question where you live. then i looked at your profile and your in ARIZONA like I am!!
ive not heard anything at all about this law! nor anything about voting for some kind of smoking related thing in the elections. when did they do this?
huh..we already pay out the a$$ for cigs if we buy them in the country..which i dont like but can deal with. making them taste funky is another thing altogether though. if we are going to pay almost $5 a PACK then they sure as hell better taste they way they are supposed to!
grrr..another reason why i will continue to go over the border for my cigs! cheaper (by far!) taste the way they are supposed to (if a bit harsher) but at least i wont be having to re-light the damn things every drag!

LOL!! I am a nonsmoker Bunny; so I don't feel any wave of sympathy...am sorry. I have had so many people choking me with their smoke in public places that I will be happy if smoking in public, at least, where there are kids around would be banned.
Cheers and happy Mylotting

thats fine. i understand that. and it has been banned in many states. but people should be allowed to smoke in their own house, yard, garage, property of any kind that is not impossing on others. yet, the government and people like you who dont smoke, want to make us quit any way possible or make us miserable with figuring ways and places to enjoy it and think we should be shamed, critised, and punished for any number of reasons even when we are not bothering anyone with it. i dont smoke around others that dont. and i think they should have a right not to put up with my smoke, but i should have a right to smoke in my own place or outside away from them also. its not fair. what if people with eating problems started passing laws about you could not eat in front of them or near them. then laws were passed that you could not use salt or other flavors in your food and couldnt even buy them? because some people dont like them, or cant eat them, or they were concidered not good for your health? then what? that would be fine?

Blimey I've heard it all now! I'm a smoker and live in the UK. I'm sure it won't be long before we get the same treatment. I must say though smoking aluminium doesn't sound very good! They go on about us poisoning our bodies smoking and now they go and put aluminium in them?? Madness!

Where I live...they passed it last year. It was bad at first because the cigs really do taste different and they really do go out if you don't constantly huff on them. It all wore off and altho they have the code on them stating that they are fire proof...they really are not. I have tested them and left them burning in the ashtray just to see....most of them do not go out even tho they say they are fire safety. Suddenly the cigs taste the same again. The smokers are not going to complain and the non-smokers really won't know the difference, will they? Just bear with the change and pacify them. The non-smokers will feel they have done something positive for themselves and the world around them.

As an experienced smoker of a variety of brands (basically whatever is on sale) I have noticed that Basics tend to go out faster and they sprak when relite. So they are not as safe as they are reporting. I have burned myself a few times due to this so I don't buy them as much. I noticed the cheaper brands are better like the generics in general.
I also notice you have to inhale harder...which makes me think this cannot be any better health wise, but then again what would the nons think because they think we pollute everything and we are the causes for pollution LOL Never mind their cars they drive or the non recyclable products the use, etc.
One poster pointed out how much revenue smokers bring to the state of IL and according to his reports IL citizens who smoke produce approximately $42 every second to their state's revenue.
So really they should back off with all the economical issues everyone has in general. Smoker's pay for their rights to smoke, they pay for others healthcare, they pay for everything the same as nons.
And if the nons don't like it don't go to that bar/restaurant. Just like a smoker will steer clear of non smoking situations if they want to. It's called EO to all, not just those who think they have a right to boss others around.
And they need to watch out (the nons I am speaking to) Now the government is gettting involved with the controlling of fat grams and other things that may affect them.
This is what happens when we judge others based on their choices....ignorance.

ok thats stupid.. well at least you told me what makes them fire safe lol.. because i was wondering how the hell you make some thing that burns fire safe.. anyways that will be annoying because you would have to relight every two seconds!! then thats using more lighter fuel, then more disposable lighters will be thrown in the trash and then there are wasting matches etc.. do they cost more??
@bunnybon7 (50973)

Man that is a new one to me. I am in Canada and have never even heard of these types of smokes. I am not quite sure why all of these non smokers are doing this. I can think of many other things that they could spend their time doing to help the world out. I just want them to leave us alone and give us our rights back. They are simply taking all of our rights away is all they are doing.

OK. Just take it easy. Maybe it is the time to get rid of the smoking. I guess you do know that smoking does harm to your health. Why not try other things? To get some sports exercices, or some sort of that. I am sure these will do you good.

OMG What is next? I live in canada and have not heard about this fs cig. Non smokers need to leave us alone once and for all. until they live a day in our shoes they can just bud out.from the counds of those smokes it is more of a quitting method.
