Is coffee good or bad?

I have read a lot of conflicting statements and study results about coffee. Some study shows that coffee is good since it contains a anti-oxidant that basically makes it great. Some even say that it has more anti-oxidant than tea. Some studies also show that coffee could be bad. It is a risk factor for heart disease. I would like to know your personal opinion on this. What do you think? Do you drink coffee? What is the effect on you?

Drinking coffee has its pros and cons. If I will base it on my own experience or personal opinion coffee is bad in a way that it gives me hyperacidity.. Coffee is addicting plus it dehydrates. It's beneficial because it contains antioxidants; so there, it help cleanse my body. If you want an article on this, you can check this: http://hubpages.com/hub/coffee-pros-cons Too much of something isn't always good. So.. everything should be taken in moderation.

I drink coffee every day. If drinking coffee does not directly make me sick, I will still be drinking. Or if I drink coffee directly die, then I will not be able to drink again. Happy myLotting.

Yes, that is simple common sense. I also drink coffee everyday. I think as long as we take it in moderation, there is no problem at all. Too much of everything whatever it is will certainly create health problems. Happy myLotting to you also!

If too over-thinking about disease, then we are not physically ill will, but will be mentally ill. Maybe you ever read about Howard Hughes or watch movie The Aviator, as the picture about it. Have a nice day.

Good coffee is naturally brewed coffee. It has antioxidants that help you clean your body. Bad coffee is instant coffee :D it has more toxins that antioxidants. However, I haven't read of how instant coffee is and the extent of toxins in it. And no studies have revealed yet that they do much damage - unless you already have an underlying condition directly affected by caffeine. If you're after anti-oxidants and still want a kick of caffeine try tea (brisk tea is cheap, or black tea which is even better). My sister stopped drinking coffee because of sleeping problems, she's only drinks tea now :) Thanks for the response on my discussion!

hi there oyenkai, this is really a good information that you have provided. Actually I do take brewed coffee and also take instant coffee. With this information, I might cut down on instant coffee and shift to brewed. Best to you!

Hi sir, personally I can't drink coffee for many reasons. One would be because of palpitations every after drinking it, and the worst is getting gastritis after. I think the principle "too much of something is bad enough" can always be applied in everything that we take in our body. Other people may not see the harmful effects now, but perhaps in the future.

Hahaha, perhaps you should take your coffee now. Well, that is certainly great to add something to coffee. Most likely it enhances the flavor. Each person usually have different tastes and likes. In my case, I am for coffee and a little cream with a little sugar.

I see, until now, even when I am no longer in college, I still love coffee. Different studies suggest different effects. But I think that important thing to consider is not drinking to much. We all know that to much of everything is bad for health.

I've also had the same dilemma. When i was a kid there's this article which says that coffee advances aging and now they're saying that coffee is good for the health because it's got antioxidants. So i really don't know and unfortunately i won't be able to answer your question. I don't drink much coffee. I noticed that it's giving me dry skin.

im not really a coffee lover but i depended on coffee to much during the nights that i have to stay up.. after having a cup, i palpitate and during the day i suffered mild chest pain.. though its good that it has anti-oxidant, i think its side effects are more risky to your health.. but i dont have other options but to consume a cup whenever there's a need for me to do..

I see, well most of us rely on coffee to stay awake. Most especially when we work overtime or want to stay late at night. Well, considering that you are feeling this chest pain and palpitation after a cup, then you should keep away from coffee. There are people who cannot tolerate coffee even with just one cup. There are also those who drink more than 5 cups a day and still feel okay. I think it really depends on the individual. Do take care.

I believe that it goes back to the old adage, "anything in moderation." Myself, I am a true coffee lover, I love the taste, I love the smell of it in the bag, and I love to hear it brewing! My mornings would be awful without a couple of cups. But, I don't drink huge amounts of it either. A couple of cups in the morning and thats it! I can't drink it past noon or I can't sleep that evening.

Yes, the smell of coffee, its great. There is really something in it that makes me active. I do agree that too much of everything is bad, so the as you have said, moderation. Best to you always!

Coffee is good. I love coffee. the effect of coffee in me is kinda weird but has a scientific explanation. Everytime I drink coffee, my stomach begins to grumble and then I feel the urge to defecate (you know what it means). It has antioxidant that fights harmful things in the body. However, too much coffee can be addicting. Tht makes it bad.

Yes, I guess we experience the same effect. That is why in the morning, before I go to the office, I usually take coffee considering that it helps with my bowel movement. In between the day, I also take coffee. I do agree that coffee contains anti oxidants that are good of course for health as well as it increases circulation. Though it should be taken moderately considering that to much of everything is always bad for health.

Got to admit coffee is another drinf that soothe my tastebuds. Aw refreshing. I even using it for my mild asthma attack because it has a mild bronchodilator effect according to my readings. But of course, we should do things in moderation a glass or 2 might be helpful but excessive is already the question of health. The rule of nature: excessive and deficits could cause problems.

Right you are. Anything in excess can be bad. That is why, I am a coffee lover indeed. Sometimes, when I have a headache I drink coffee and often times it relieves my problem. Well, well just have to drink in moderation considering that too much can always cause harm.

well, for the facts, coffee contains caffeine that they says is bad for our health. But in my case i do drink a lot of coffee, it's like day wont die without coffee, because coffee makes me feel energized...Furthermore, i did not experience yet the bad effect of coffee, they say it will be on my older days...but well...no one knows what we have in the future, so i will just cross the bridge when i get there...

Well, I think that for as long as it is not taken to much, then most likely its okay. Having caffeine can increase the heart's contraction which in a way can be good considering that fatty deposits can be taken out. But if taken to much it can also cause problems and may lead to heart disease. Coffee does makes me energized my day. In fact, my day always start with coffee.

I love drinking coffee because it keeps me awake especially when I work. And sometimes I just like to drink coffee and I like savoring the taste and aroma of the coffee. With your question, yes it is true that coffee is an anti-oxidant.Many studies have proven it.But as the saying goes"too much of something is bad enough".I think that applies to drinking coffee because sometimes when I drink coffee a lot I get palpitations. And it also keeps me awake thus giving me hard time to sleep at night. I think we have to drink coffee with limitations.I don't know how much we have to take in a day. But all i have to say is that coffee is the best!!!.

Hi there coffee lover, yes, I do agree with you that everything in excess is bad for health. The key is moderation. I do take coffee all the time, it seems that I am addicted to the aroma and the taste. It has become a habit for me. Drinking coffee always makes me active. Luckily, I do not have any palpitations when I drink coffee. Do enjoy the coffee but do control the drinking.

If I die from drinking coffee, I hope it's quick and painless. I really like my coffee -- with flavored creamer, thank you. I've heard comments on both sides of the coffee debate. I don't know what the truth is. I just know I'm not going to stop drinking it.
