At what age will you stop watching anime?

I have been reading manga and watching animes for almost 2 decades now, and I can't seem to stop. I'm married and in my early 30s now, and I still enjoy OnePiece, Naruto, Bleach, FMA etc, and I don't know if I'll ever quit. You think it's normal? I mean it has never affected my life as a whole, in fact it's rather incomplete if I don't get to watch a new ep, or read a new chap. How about you, do you think you will be watching animes and reading mangas past age 20 or 30?

I don't think you should stop my husband introduced me to anime when we were dating of coruse by that I was still waking up to watch Saturday cartoons. Anime has very good storyline and my personal thought I think storyline are better then some shows. Also anime character are more complex and are different and theirs a story for everyones interest and theirs always a lesson to learn in anime and in cartoons in general and am 26 and my hubby is 24 and have son.So i see continue

indeed, anime is not just for kids, as what other people think. That is a big misconception.
see if its for kids, why do adults make it in the first place. thats the simplest point.
its a form of art, its an expression of craftsmanship and prowess in drawing.
anyone who says its for little kids are in denial and are truly in need of a dose of anime! lol!

you are right plus many of the subject matter talked abut in anime is definitely not for kids and anyone who believes that are just fooling themselves. I think most people believes it's for kids because it's a cartoon and in America any cartoon is automatically for kids people disregard the subject matter . I do think it's an art and I love it.

I will never stop because it's one of my passions. Initially I wanted to venture into animation industry due to my passion but I found life does not always go your way and I'm not about to give up my current high salary for that yet. And it's also due to my commitments. That's why the least I can do is never stop watching anime because to me, it's actually a kind of art. :)

There's nothing abnormal about it. It's good that you enjoy something and have been for so long. I like manga too but i don't watch much anime. It doesn't matter how old you are, if they keep you happy then good for you. Some manga and animes are universally enjoyable. I think i'll be reading manga for the very long term.

Well, my answer is "I'll stop when I die."
I only started when I was 18 anyway (not counting DBZ), so I don't think I'll ever stop.

Hi there. I actually am "past 20" and yes, I still do watch anime, though not as frequently as before, I'd give you that. I guess one you get hooked into anime once in your life, you can never truly stop. I also find it a silly notion to think that age has something to do with it. As long as you still find it enjoyable, I don't see any reason for a person to stop watching anime - be they 15 or 50.

I agree, once you get hooked, it pretty much is difficult to stop watching anime. It's nice to know there are other "not so young" anime lovers here.

Watching animated series or cartoons is not a sin whatever age you are.In fact it nourishes the kid in you and keeps you more alive.Animations breeds our free time with relaxed mind so that one can feel refreshed after watching something like that. But if you are addicted at this age, then it is to be worried.Otherwise, don't mind.Cheers!

Why stop? I wouldn't I'd still have anime as my guilty pleasure even if I reach the age of 70 and I have grandkids already. I mean it would be a good way to bond with them and it's a good way to remember your childhood, even now I'm 22 but when I get to watch yuyu hakusho, Dragonball etc. I reminisce when I was like 8-12 yrs old

I've been watching anime almost for about 1.5 decades I suppose. I feel that I won't be stopping in the near future. I see watching anime as a hobby and I really do enjoy this hobby. Since currently I still have a lot of friends that watch anime so I can talk to them about it and eventually if my friends stop watching, I'll probably continue watching since I just love anime. I see watching anime the same as like watching a tv shows and soap opera so I think I'll continue watching anime until I get sick of it probably (which may never happen).

stop anime? hehe... I don't think theres any necessity to do so. You know, my mom uses anime to bond with us when we were younger... Actually even now, that she's already 50 years old, she still watches anime with us. Sometimes when she misses an episode, she asks us for an update.. HAHA.. so i don't really agree that one has to stop watching or doing what they like...
You can always come up with a good excuse... haha just like my mom did.. (she even finished the series of Dragon ball... Imagine that! haha)

Me too, I can't seem to stop it right now. I watch some anime such as Detective Conan, The Legend of Aang, Doraemon, and other title that I like. For me, anime is kind of my refreshment after my daily routine. When I was i junior high school, I collected mangas and made my own library. But now, I don't buy the latest title or the latest book because the price is getting hinger TT. So that I prefer to wait until the mangas uploaded in my favorite online manga www.onemanga.com.
Happy my lotting!

OMG I also read mangas at onemanga...But to support these mangakas, I buy the original once it's available in English trans. Same goes with the animes, I download latest eps, but I do commit myself to buy the original DVD once it's out. Just my way of supporting anime and mangas now that I do have some money to spend.

Anime in my opinion doesn't have to deal with age. I'm 18 and I know I'll be into it my adult life too. Don't be worried or ashamed about it. Besides it being animated, it really is no different than any other show except the occasional ninja or teenaged super hero.

Thanks bbentley5990. When I was 18 I thought I'd stop watching anime once I finish college and get myself a job. Then a funny thing happened, the internet became an instrument for accessing animes not even shown where I live. I finished College, got a job, and I'm still watching anime. I don't think I can ever stop now.

Yes and yep even when I pass my age. If I will be a parent in the future, I still need to catch-up with them and monitor stuff. Some animes are not for kids and that is just one big reason... Since anime is part of pop culture, it wont be forgotten and well it is always nice to have a sense of going back with memories as one ages. I think that's called confabulation. Awww! Heheh

I think there is no age limit in being an anime fanatic because animes are really fun to watch and they can be very addicting also. I love the animes that you mention and I guess I'll be watching them until they'll be finish making the series even if I'll be 60-70 yrs old(if I can reach that age by the way)LOL. Like you I can't stop myself from watching them even sometimes it causes a conflict between me and my girlfriend I still can't get enough of them.
