Okay, so i have the increasing problem of... i like to spend my time on the computer... however my mother complains i'm running up huge electric bills that we just cant handle.
I've been told a Television uses more electric then a computer that is on the internet (the broadband is paid for by my father... they're divorced).
SO i was actually just wondering...
DOES a TV use more electric then a PC? Hence running up higher electric bills? Does anyone know?

It depends on the type of computer you are using. If you are using a desktop with a CRT monitor you are using 140-330 watts. Laptops are around 45 watts. A 19" television uses 55-90 watts. Hope this helps.

I've also heard that household appliances and television sets use more electricity than the computer. I don't know how true it is though. I know they recommend turning off your computer when it is not in use, to save electricity though. I would try to ease your mother's mind, by tring to find out for sure how much electricity is generated by using your computer by contacting your local electric company and asking them.
