A minute to myself

I'm really enjoying this moment! I have it all to myself! It doesn't happen often. The youngest is upstairs napping, and the older 4 are outside playing in the snow. I know this moment won't last long. The baby will be waking up soon, and the older kids will start fighting or screaming outside, or they'll get cold too quickly and come inside. How often do you get a moment to yourself? What do you do with that time?

I've always had to make time for myself - even when my children were young. I would tell them that I was off duty for 15 minutes. I would go to my bedroiom and read for 15 minutes which would refresh me immensley. However the downside was when my MIL turned up unexpectedly and I became aware that she was there when I heard her talking to the children outside my bedroom window. she askled where I was. My eldest told her that I ws off duty for 15 minutes and was not to be disturbed unless anyone was bleeding! I leave you to imagine her reaction. I was not the flavour of the month in motherhood.

I bet! MIL's can never be very understanding, can they? I can only imagine how badly mine would react to that. Unfortunatly, my little ones are still too little to take a break like that. Perhaps in a few more years.

You know, when I was about 5 mos prego with my toddler (now 2 1/2) I went away by myself for a whole weekend, from Friday afternoon until Monday morning. I went up to Canada and stayed with a friend of mine, just me and her all weekend. It was a nice weekend, we did a lot of walking and sight seeing, and spent some time Sunday vegging on the sofa watching movies. It was the break I needed from my then 2 year old twins. Well come Saturday afternoon I began missing my family, the kids and the hubby. Although I enjoyed my break, I was certainly looking forward to getting home. So I walk in the door about noon time Monday, hubby sitting on the sofa, kids running wild, TV blaring, house is a wreck. Hubby didn't even so much as get off the sofa to welcome me home, just said hi and went back to his show. A large part of me wanted to go right back out the door and drive back up to Canada!

Enjoy!! As you say, it won't last long or long enough! My kids are all grown now, but I had twins and one other that were 3.5 years apart...all girls! They were always fighting and best friends the next--never a dull moment. LOL! I used to love to have a long and relaxing bath or just quiet time to think! Whatever you do--enjoy it!

I don't really get a moment to myself. My youngest still naps but lately shorter then he used to. My oldest is in school but I still have my middle one who doesn't nap. I can't even get a moment alone in the shower most of the time lol. I just started working though and I kind of get time alone there even though I'm cleaning while I do it. I work in housekeeping at one of the hotels in town. I get my cart and I go clean my rooms. I have about 2 or 3 hours at a time pretty much where I'm by myself just cleaning.

Must make you not want to lift a finger once you get home. I'd hate to have to clean for someone else. I hate to just clean for myself, lol.

Lol I never get a moment to myself, in fact sometimes it frustrates me because I am one of those people who does like to be alone sometimes. But I chose to have so many kids so really I cannot complain about lack of me time!! And my daughter will start nursery in September so I will get a bit of me time then each day so it will be nice.

I have a brief period after my eldest son gets picked up for school but before the rest of the household wakes up which is all my own. That's my time to have a cup of tea and normally I open up the laptop and write a few myLot discussions whilst I drink it.

Hi katsmeow1213. I completely understand about having a minute to yourself. I rarely have those as well. Parenting can be tough! Kids, gotta love them. :D I usually take those few precious moments and paint my nails, hands/feet. If I have thirty minutes, I will do a quick home facial. And if I know it will only be 10 minutes or less, I just lay back, close my eyes and enjoy the silence.
