We all know that food is based on the culture of the nation. I am in the Philippines and I eat rice. Asians can not eat without rice. It is the source of carbohydrates where we can get energy. Some countries do not eat rice but they eat hamburgers, some countries eats pasta as their source of carbohydrates and some eats noodles. My wife do not eat rice, pasta, french fries or anything that has carbohydrates because she wants to lose weight and she did. What about you? Do you eat rice?

Hi there. I'm also from the Philippines and I also eat rice. I eat rice with almost every meal. The only time I don't eat rice is when I eat burgers or pasta. It's true, Asians cannot eat without rice. Our McDonalds here in the Philippines have rice meals which then don't serve in McDonalds in the US.

My country is the place that if ever we ran out of rice supply, there would be a general collapse, we are used to eating rice with just about EVERYTHING, rice with pasta, rice with mashed potato, rice with salads, rice with fried chicken, you name it, even for breakfast !, I´ve been living overseas for about 13 years and am not used to having that much rice anymore so when I come home, they look at me weird, thinking why am I so ridiculous when I tell them that pasta IS NOT meant to be eaten with rice !, I wonder what italians would think about that !

We live in the United States, and yes we eat rice. Rice is a good filler and we mix it with veges or other hot dishes. But I agree with your wife, if I stay away from the carbohydrates such as rice and noodles, I do lose weight. In fact carbohydtates don't give me energy, they make me slow and lethargic. I do better with proteins.

i like rice and i am in canada. we usually have at least once a week (we are not asians) but its fairly reasonable in price and it is filling, so we have meals like stir fry with veggies and a bit of meat and rice. we also eat a lot of pasta too.

Sure, I almost eat rice everyday as I am a Chinese. Our main food is rice. Although I can eat without rice, but I have to follow my family's diet. So everyday I just eat a little bowl of rice and it's good enough for me. I love China

We eat rice about once a week. Usually I will cook brown rice since it is healthier for you than the white rice. We also eat macaroni or noodles a couple times a week.

I am asian & a also eat rice. Not only eat, I eat three times a day. But I don't think that, eating rice is the main reason to be fat. If you r carefull about urself, then u can control ur health. I do exercise & so, i don't become fat. Eating Should be the most demandable thing to everyone. But just also need to care about health. That's all.

Look at my tummy.. Whew! I am voluptous as they sa - The new me..
Hi Marquis, I have not eaten rice from May 26, 2007 to February 14, 2008 - - I did loose some weight! However, I got admitted to the hospital because my tonsillitis got some sore and I have no option but to eat the food served by the hospital so I got back to eating rice since then. I have obviously increased in body volume and weight. LOL. Well, I am learning to be more physical now and still eat rice so I can balance my body needs. Well, as long as your wife consults a nutritionist that everything will be good for her, it will not create any problem at all. Balance is truly what matters. Every single cell in our body needs some energy, it may not be rice or any carbohydrates. Cheers, JNY

Yes, I do eat rice. Everyone at my home has rice for lunch or dinner. That is the main source of carbohydrates. We cook rice and make curry (we call it sambar or rasam) and mix this curry along with rice and eat :) And its very true that eating lesser quantity of rice will help you reduce weight. But u also need to watch out for other stuffs like butter, ghee, chocolates, fried food which can actually add on to your weight.

Hi! I'm also from the Philippines and I grew up eating rice most of the time. But now I only eat rice every other day. I make sandwiches or vegetable salad when I'm not having rice or sometimes noodles and pasta.

Hello Kabayan! Well, rice is the most basic food on each of our meals. It cannot be absent. But there are times especially when we eat out and when there are occassions, I do not eat rice so that I could enjoy all of the dishes that is served. Well, Rice is the major suspect for gaining weight that is why those figure conscious people do not eat it. It feels that there is something missing when eating without rice.
