I've heard from many of my friends that hair dryer is not good to use regularly for it will make your hair dryer than normal and creates split ends. I am not using hair dryer in my hair I have none of that at home. I just experience having hair dryer or some people called it hair blower when I will go to the parlor. What about you? what can you say about using hair dyer/blower every time you was your hair? Can you share how it works with you?

When I had a perm I used to just wash and go - especially in the summer when the heat dries your hair. Unfortunately I don't anymore and since my hair is straight I feel I have to dry it and style it for it to look good.

Does anyone have any ideas for styling hair without using a dryer? I would love to hear them - sometimes I feel I have two left hands when it comes to doing my hair.

I rarely blow dry my hair. I probably do it less than once a year! It's terrible for your hair. It dries out your hair and makes your hair more likely to break off or to split. It's just a really bad idea.
However, if you blow dry your hair, you'd probably be better off using a leave in conditioner before you blow dry your hair. It may make your hair less likely to break or to split and it will help protect your hair from the elements as well.

It can be more expensive but using a leave in conditioner regardless of whether or not you blow dry your hair is always a good idea. It helps protect your hair from normal wear and tear and may help prevent breakage and splits. Plus it helps keep your hair soft and shiny.

I rarely used it. Hair dryers can cause damage to your hair if you use it frequently. It's not so advisable. What I'm doin is to let it dry but I'm combing it often while drying it. I may use an electric fan to dry it but not any gadget or stuff that releases hot air. It gonna literally dry your hair in a bad way. It's not a good habit..

My preference is to air dry my hair. In the summer months I will wash my hair and go outside and let the sun dry it. When it is cold outside I do have to use the blow dryer but try to only half dry the hair. Then I let it dry on its own. My hair is softer and less frizzy when I let it dry on its own.

Oh!! that is nice to know that. So, it emplies that using hair dryer is not really good for the hair. what if you are going to work right after you wash your hair? that is the common reason for people who are working. they don;t want to go to work with wet hair so, they use blower to dry it faster. when I was working before, I just go to work with wet hair. Lol.

I usually wash my hair at night. This allows time for the hair to dry naturally. There are times when I am wash it in the morning and have to use the hair dryer. But, I leave it a bit damp. The results aren't great though. I have to use a product to lessen the frizzies.

my gf does this too. she washes her hair at night letting it to air dry. and she reckons that her hair looks sexier that way in the morning. she brushes her hair by running her fingers through her hair and she is ready for the day. less frizzy too she says.

Interesting post, thank you.
I used to go to the hair dresser every three months and she never used a blow dryer on my hair.
there was a time, many years ago, that I did use a hair blower.
I works great to style your hair. I did not use it every time but I do agree that it does tend to dry the hair, as in dry it out somewhat.
I use a blow dryer on my dog, after I bath her every time. Which is about once a month.
I must be sure that her hair doesn't dry out as she is a Yorkie, so their hair is a lot like ours. Only their PH is different.
Thank you for this post. I will have to be more careful when blow drying the dog.

Your Welcome Bebs,
I agree that if used everyfay, a hair dryer could easily dry out the hair.
Thank you for your comment.
Yes my dog has her own hair dryer and she really enjoys it when she is toweled off after getting out of the shower.
A real little diva she is.

I am very paranoid about time Bebs! LOL! I am like that as if there is something that will tickle my body when I am not in the workplace an hour or 45 minutes in advance!
ANyway, my hubby maybe has no patience in his hair, he can't wait it to get dry and very dependent on the blower, I am happy it was destroyed because I know he has a very thin hair now and it's not good! but, he is hard headed! LOL!

To be honest, I do not use it on a daily bases. Only when I am going out with friends and so on. I do not have the time every morning to use my hair dryer. I wash the hair, and use a tour, being very consistent with the tour and try to dry it as much as I can with it. And then I use a hair brush for some minutes and then let it dry most of the time on it´s own. I do not tie the hair up untill it is fully dryed.
I need to have my long hair tied up at work, so I most of the part wash my hair in the evenings. That way I can let it dry without any hair dryer. the best is to use the wind outside, actually. If there are any.

hi bebs, I think i have started some discussions here in mylot that i am a vain person when it comes to my hair. I had different hairstyles for the past years and i have gadgets that i used mo make my hair the way i want it to be. I have hair blower, hair iron, curler and stuffs like that. I would agree to what your friend have said that having your hair dried with blower or using would dry up the hair and would damage it. it would be best to have it naturally dry or air blown dried. though i would say having it styled makes you look more better than not having it styled the way you want. LOL.

Hello friend, i can attest to that and that is what my favorite hairstylist told me that it will really damage your hair. That is what if you do frequent hairstyling it would be best to have your hair treated once every month. That is to hot oil the hair or apply hair wax treatment. You should try it if you have styled your hair with a blower or straightener lately. Thanks to the BR my friend. Appreciate it!!!!

I do not use a hair dryer very often. I have very long hair and it takes a while to dry on it's own. I try to only wash it at night but if I have to wash it during the day when I have to go out then I will use a hair dryer. So it does not dry out my hair that bad because I do not use it alot.

I've never used the hair dryer on myself; it's like a burning to my scalp. So, I just leave our house with hair brushed up and let the air do their thing in drying it out. When I leave our house I've got nasty, wet hair, but when I get to uni my hair's all nice and soft and dry. Heehee.

I didn't used to use a hair dryer my hair is long and I would just let it air dry, but a couple months ago I got a new hairstyle so now in order for it to look right I have to dry it with a hair dryer and a brush. Usually I keep my hair curly, so I didn't use one, because it would frizz out, but now its almost straight, and I have to dry it.

Oh really? you want your hair curly? sometimes I feel it funny to think about this. Ladies who have curly hair want to make it straight and those who have straight hair want their hair to be curly. Me too, I have a curly hair and I want it straight,, U=I bought flat iron to make my hair straight. But I never blower my hair. In this case I think it is just the same. I am not using hair dryer for my hair but I am using hair iron which is also hot. Anyway, I put oil on my hair before doing the straight .

I mostly just comb my hair into 'my style' and let it dry naturally. Only if I am in a rush will I use a hair dryer y the time that I reach work it is almost dry and then I keep a bottle of hair shine in my bathroom at work. so when it is dry I just spray my hair with hair shine to condition it and keep it looking good. I do not wash my hair everyday either. Usually every other day. Every day seems to make it harder to control any friz. sometimes I only wash it twice a week.

Blow dry every day can cause the hair damage.Or it can create your hair dried out for it suffered from too much heat-styling and environmental exposure. Just don't blow dry that's the best solution, also switch to hydrating products that add moisture and protect your hair against heat styling and sun exposure, and use a hair wash duo that protects your hair.

I love using the hairdryer because its a faster process in drying my hair. Although i hate to do so because it causes fly aways and i think its bad on your hair. I usually shower and then leave my hair to air dry while ill do other things around the house.

Well, that's what I am doing too. I just let my hair dry naturally. Sometimes I wrap it with towel for few minutes and then let it dry naturally. Now that it is winter, I sit down near the wood stove and in 30 minutes my hair just dry naturally because of the heat of the wood stove..I am not using hair dryer or blower to dry my hair.

Putting heat on your hair isn't that bad in moderation, but over time it will damage your hair, whether using a blow dryer or flat iron or any other heated hair device. I don't blow dry my hair, because I flat iron it. Instead, i put in leave-in conditioner each night, and let it airdry (I shower at night). This way, in the morning, my hair is nice and soft. I also put on a spray that protects against heat damage before I put any heat on my hair. This would also help for blowdrying, too!
