I think it is a problem. It is a problem as there is resources crunch. Having so many children is a sign of illiteracy. Generally poor and illiterate people are the ones who normally have many children. Each life is precious, but I think we also need to have serious family planning. And that will include teaching them about the ill-effects of having too many children on the mother and the lack of resources to support them. The earth is increasing in no of people and if we don't keep that in check it'll explode.

Thats very true..! I guess its our responsibility to teach and educate and also provide ways!!! How do you respond to those who say tat it should not be a problem? Looking at those develop countries where they are importing people for workforce as the population is on the decline. so if the govt is able to provide even 60% employment!!

As countries economic condition improves their living standard becomes better, and ultimately people have longer life span. And so more old people will be available in such nations. Since old people are not that 'productive' in terms of generating economic values the GNP of the country decreases over a long period of time. Such countries later will try to import people to fill the workforce. But importing manpower is not always easy if it crosses certain limit because it laters the demography of a nation, and thus subverts the social-political condition. To have such a stable and healthy transition it takes a long period of time. Such transition is not able to match up with the population explosion. And so countries that have high rate of population expansion suffers. Another point is that since it's a global world we all have to concerned about the resources available to run the world. At this rate we would finish off the resources before we could alternative. Global warming will mostly affect those populated and poor countries. So I think those countries that have bigger population need to worry more cos they will be most affected.

It should not be, but it is. The cultivable area decreases year by year, but the production is the same or higher. All these achievements go void with the growing demands. And also I don't mean the common problems, but the bigger ones. Mainly, corruption. As the population grows, almost everyone wants to reserve his place and encourages corruption directly or indirectly. If it keeps on going, it would be easy for terrorists and other destructive forces to creep in.

I think you have a point there. Its moreso in the rural areas and among the poor families, where we cannot entirely blame on them as they are ignorant or didn't have the means to.Any suggestion what can be done from the health side??
