It is from my local animal shelter and it is so cute. I need to wait till the 26. I am the only one interested, I am sure I am going to adopt her. Btw her name is Frankie and I am very excited about it. I wonder how many in mylot have adopted a pet from the animal shelter? Or the dog pound?

I think it's wonderful that you are adopting a new member into your family. I have 4 rescues that I just adore and wouldn't take a thousand dollars or more for. The shelters are over crowded as many people now are finding it hard to feed their families in this economy. It is my hope that the economy will get better soon and that many people will be able to give nice loving homes to the pets that are in shelters.

Thanks for your kind words and I agree with you. It is sad that people have to make a choice like that, I hope things get better, that people get a chance to stay where they live and raise their family and pets in a way that is loving and even if it is not free of stress that they can respect themselves in the morning.

I never have. I have had the misfortune of having had a pet or two taken to the pound and that is never fun I hope they give you the little dog and that it isn't too nippy with anyone in the household, especially the brat, I mean our lovely daughter

Hey Shelly! I am so happy to hear that you are adopting from an animal shelter! That is so great to hear! I adopted my first kitten from a shelter and I loved her so much! I wish I could adopt more animals and have my apartment filled with them! When I go to the shelter I get so upset because I want to take all the animals home with me! Obviously, that isn't possible. I end up crying for days knowing that they will end up putting them down because they have too many there and they will not be able to get them adopted. I wish more people would go to the shelters to get their pets. They have so many wonderful animals that need homes. I am so glad that you are adopting a shelter animal!

It is sad that so many pets get put to sleep. So I understand where you are coming from. I am glad that your kitties have a chance at a happy home with someone caring like you and even tho you can't bring them all home with you at least you made a difference to the ones you did take home and to other people who know you.

Good fro you they need homes very badly. I think it is a wonderful thing to do. I have adopted from the shelter and humane society many times before. I rescue cats and dogs, mostly cats. I know how grateful they are when they get a home. Just remembere there may be a little time of adjustment for the new dog. It will all work out fine. Blessings to you and your new friend!!!!

I adopted one of my dogs from the humane society. He was a puppy and the last one from his litter to be adopted. I was very lucky that I got there when I did because there were a lot of people that came in right after me that would've taken him if I didn't. He is the best dog I ever owned. He didn't cry when he was a puppy and locked in the kitchen by himself at night. It was wonderful. My other dog came from a pet shop. She was also the last one there and I couldn't leave her in the window all alone. I feel like I rescued her too. She looked so sad and lonely. I probably will not buy from a pet shop in the future though. I would rather save dogs from the pound or animal shelter!

I am glad that your story has a happy ending for you and your pets. I would go to the animal shelter again in the future, it is nice to know that I can make a difference in this pet's life and this pet can make a difference in mine too.

You made the right choice! Frankie is so cute! I'm sure he's also excited to be with you. 26 is coming soon so no worries. You just made a good deed by taking Frankie out of animal shelter. I never had any pets from animal shelters. I got Moochie from a friend's sister. She has told me that they're having difficulty taking care of lots of dogs so i asked for one. When i saw Moochie, he looked like he's not been taken care of well. Now he's a healthy and playful dog.

I know what you mean but I can't wait to have Frankie. I am glad that you gave Moochie a nice home and that well in return you have a loving and playful pet, it is a win-win situation to me. Continue to enjoy your dog

We have just decided recently that we're ready for a puppy and while I do really want a Boston Terrier I just don't feel right about spending $1000 on a dog when I could help one in need for $150. It isn't about the money, there are just so many dogs at shelters who need a home. I think we will go visit our local shelters and pounds and see what they have for puppies in the spring. I guess it's a little selfish but I do really want a puppy rather than an adult dog.

I believe you can both have the dog that you want and help at the same time too. And I do not believe it is selfish at all. I was searching for a chihuahua dog and I did run across the dog that I wanted. I am betting there will be the dog that you want, and it will be like a match made in heaven because it will be more precious to you.

HI I adopted 2 dogs from the local spca where i live. I would with no doubt go again to the spca to adopt. They do have really good dogs there. Your heart goes out to them. Its worth adopting one, and giving them a chance again for a home. Also it make you feel so good, that you gave the little guy or girl a home. I know its how i felt as soon as i signed the papers for adoption. My 2 dogs are in my picture. Good luck with Frankie, she is a sweet heart.
