Have you noticed there are a LOT of people on mylot who never post...

...to anyone else's discussions. They come on and list a ton of their own discussions so that people will answer and earn them money, but they don't return the favor. I found a couple like this this morning. One had post over 40 discussions of his own but had only made 39 responses. The other had 30+ discussions but only 13 responses. Does this bother anyone else?

one thing that i noticed at some people is that they post discussions but never come back to read the answers they got..and i feel like then it's useless to respond to their discussions as long as they don't bother to read and i move on to another user..but i don't care much if they only post and not reply..after all if we get interest in their discussion and we respond we get money too...and if nobody will answer to their discussions anymore they will get deleted,so it's their problem

yes i know, some of the people here can be very annoying..especially when they post stupid discussions,or the same discussions that others posted also..me ,for example i had a problem once..one of mylot users copy -pasted the text that i wrtoe in one of my discussions, above the title that was 'do you still believe in marriage'..and she posted it as her discussion...i wouldn't have minded if she asked the same question, about marriage..coincidences happen..but she copied the text that i wrote about me..'i have a boyfriend for 4 years and i still don't know if i wanna marry him..etc etc'and she posted it as a discussion..that really bothered me...

These people just waste everyone's time who is on mylot trying to play by the rules and develop a quality website. This is a great idea if people don't run it into the ground and make it shut down.

Good answer! Maybe I'm too sensitive to deadbeats trying to make money off of me. I had one guy as a friend for awhile that spent all day just submitting stories as discussions. He never answered anyone else's discussions. It got to be very tedious reading all of his stories, so I decided not to be his friend any more so that I didn't have to deal with it. Thanks for your response.

What do you think would happen to mylot if all anyone did was post their own discussions? I think it would cease to exist. The whole point of it is to work as a community, and the only way we can achieve that is by everyone responding to others instead of just cluttering up the place with their own meaningless discussions.

That is so unfair to copy and paste your discussion and what is maddening is that we dont know who started the topic in the first place.I have noticed that myself and also there are people that never or rarely start a discussion and seem to respond or comment only

There seem to be a lot of deadbeats who are only here for the money they can make. If the rest of us refuse to play into their games --- posting repeats, copying, silly topics, etc. -- then they won't make money. Then they'll either change their ways or go elsewhere for their bucks.

well does not bother us if he gives response then he will earn more but he does not do that so its his mistake. let him suffer.

The point is, if he doesn't answer our discussions, and if no one else did, then no one would make anything. Thanks for responding.

You haven't been on mylot long enough to understand where I'm coming from. I've been here over 3 weeks, and during that time the members as well as the mylot staff have been working hard to create an improved, functioning website. Unfortunately there are a lot of people who come on just for a joy ride or for a few bucks and don't care what they do to the site. With too many like that, how is mylot going to keep growing and expanding?

i think mylot pays for responses and comments also. otherwise it will not keep going. Yes. u will get more cents when your question gets lot of responses. but i think it matters when u response to others questions and zero Response questions.

I've learned that everyone has to work together on mylot in order to earn much of anything. People who do nothing but post aren't contributing to the good of the community, just their own pockets. Of course, I guess we're all trying to do that.

That does not bother me as much as the fact that I think that a lot of people looking for advise here are lying about their problems which is really sad. I mean, come on, would you really lie about your relationship, children, or life for pennies?

I agree that a lot of that is going on. If you compare their stories to their profiles, the information doesn't match; such as in their discussion they talk about their young teen children and their profile says they are 20, etc.

It's amazing what people will do for a few cents. They're working awfully hard coming up with this stuff- it would be easier if they went out and worked a real job.

It bothers me to a certain extent. It is frustrating when we don't get a chance to actually have a dialogue. But on the otherhand, no one really responds to my discussions, so I rarely get a chance to reply to my own discussions.

it doesnt really bother me but i figured what i would do is check out the discussions with zero responses and try to respond to as many of them as possible, i just started and it sucks when you think youve asked a valuable or interesting question and no one responds (i didnt realize at first either it would be better to search first to see if anyones already done the same one so this is part of my problem i realize but it still sucks) thanks for asking a good question

Keep working at it, caraj. We all get discouraged in the beginning because it takes awhile before things get moving. Find a group of friends who are willing to respond to your posts in return for you answering theirs. That keeps your posts in circulation instead of letting them disappear into la la land. I didn't get responses for awhile, either, but now I have more than I can handle. Thank you for answering mine!

I have also seen this trend. You know people who have started more posts get more money than those people who answer them. I have seen this many a times. And to answer your question, I think now with the new guidelines been implemented those people who start their own posts would have to be careful and would have to see that the discussion topic is unique. In this way may be we will have lesser discussion beibg started by members.

I wouldn't mind having fewer discussions if they were quality ones that people could actually discuss instead of just answering. Responses should be weighted some way instead of just blindly paying every person for every response. That would help in shaping up the people who always deadend every discussion they respond to.

i started a topic two days back and the main idea of the topic was "why dont we help eachother?" its ok if people post discussions but most of the times people post useless dicussions.. they steal the idea from someone else and start a new topic which they think they will earn money. my point of view is that... ok fine start discussions but atleast u come back to read the replies and rank/rate the responses so that it will help others also to earn more money. People then will start replying some quality posts in order to get a PLUS or ranked as the best post.

It's refreshing to see someone this passionate (I've read some of your responses to comments other others as well). Here's my question: do you think myLot is really a strong enough player in social networking to invest your time or is it doomed to junky/dumpy comments from people trying to make a fast buck? Is there a happy medium?Curious to get your perspective.

If I'm not passionate about doing a good job with something, I don't do it at all. I'm hoping that all the good people on here will help build mylot into something big and that the people trying to make a quick buck will give up and move along. I like the concept of mylot, but it takes everyone to make an effort to build it. I've been on here not quite a month, and I've seen a lot of improvement in just that length of time. I don't think we should be here just for ourselves. We also need to help each other and the people who own mylot in order for this site to survive.

You know, i was thinking about that. I think what will happen is that the people who post inane comments or one word answers will quickly grow tired of this place. My reasoning behind that is that they are going to see threads about what people are making and i have noticed a LOT of people with a lower amount of comments who are making a LOT more than people with a TON of stupid ones. I'm not sure what would be considered good or in regards to earning rates, but i know i have been here 3 days now and i have $4.37 so far. Doesn't seem to shabby, i usually try to leave a decent comment though, although of course i have my fair share of short ones as well. =P

Please use the search box to check out previous topics before posting a new discussion. Some topics have been posted over and over again. That's a waste of space, and it can get very boring. Welcome to mylot, and thanks for responding to my post.

At least we all have a lot of choice in topics to respond to. There are a lot of juvenile posts, but since the membership is made up of all ages, I guess that's to be expected. I just prefer to have posts that make sense and appeal to someone instead of all the repeats. Who cares what you made today, what your favorite color is, who gave you your first kiss.... ? And yet these topics post over and over and over. If that's all I could find on here, I'd have been gone a long time ago. The extra $$$ is a perc, but it's really the meat of the discussions that keep people coming back.
