Is Christmas Over-commercialised?

Personally I think it is. I'm not in this instance talking about the religious festival of Christmas, I'm talking about the wider secular midwinter festival that rather more people celebrate, coming together as a family to share a meal, gifts and company. In itself thats a lovely thing to do but I see so many people worried sick about buying gifts, outdoing themselves with food they won't eat and ingoring their ethics by buying batter raised turkeys to eat.
