Do you know of any? I'm looking for something with which to crop, zoom, get rid of red eye, brighten, that sort of thing. Nothing too fancy. I have thousands of digital pics, but most of them, in order to be usable, need to be edited. I've been meaning to get to it for quite some time now. Maybe some good software will make the process easier. Thanks.

Just a note to support Picasa. It is very good for what you want to do. A free alternative with a lot more power (but not quite so easy to learn) is XnView. Because Picasa tries to scan your system for all image files, it can be a bit slow at times, and it is also annoying of you want to work with one or more files that are not in its indexed folders, but otherwise, it is a fine tool.

Thanks, I've already downloaded it and started using it. The only problem I've had so far is when I edit a picture, it replaces the original when I save it. Sometimes that's fine, but sometimes I want to save the original as well as the edited version.

Unless you changed the default settings, you will find the original files in a new a doesn't alter them.folder called...Original (or something like that). Picasa doesn't alter them.

That came out a bit garbled. Look for a folder called original. Your unaltered photo will e there.

Hi SC!!
I use one called paint.net, it is free, easy to download and fairly user friendly once you get the hang of it. Though maybe it was just me taking a while to work it out!
Hope all is well over there. Has the sun come out lately or still a nasty cold winter? We have had a lot of rain lately, roads are cut off but I am in no danger of floods.
Also I have been meaning to ask did you find a job and if so how is it going? I remember you looking for one a while back.

Bugger about the job front, I guess with the current economic climate it will only get harder as well. Best of luck I hope you find something good soon.
Over hear a lot of mothers do family day care, where they look after other people's children at home, maybe you could look at something like that?
Otherwise just keep plugging away at your writing and maybe one day it will pay off. At least that is what I hope for!

I've thought about watching children in my home, but the area where I live is pretty remote, and there's not much of a market. It would be a long drive for most people to bring their children to me. Maybe I'll see if there is someone who wants me to come to their home, and doesn't mind if I bring my son along.

Tat's free but illegal! If you want to use Photoshop free, Adobe have an online version. You just need an internet connection.
