The more you spend, the more you get; and the more photographs you take, the quicker you find the limitations of the camera you are using. What brand of camera is best? No one brand makes all the best cameras; and there are a lot of kinds of cameras; simple point-and-shoot models, cameras with more features and user controls, "bridge cameras" that have many advanced features, enthusiasts' models, some of which are compacts, most of which are single-lens reflex cameras. And that's without mentioning the professional cameras or the toys they put into phones. The biggest range of cameras comes from Canon, and they sell more in every class of "real" cameras than all the rest put together. More than half of professional and amateur photographers have Canon cameras, and half of the rest use Nikons. Does that men they are the best? No...but they are damn good cameras!

I am a freelance photographer since i ws in high school. I spent my education through my camera as a living. I even support my brother ans sisters in their study "shoot and take picture for pay" for me the best brand of camera does not matter. I still have canon FTb, Pextax MX, Minolta SRT101, Olympus pin all are functioning and good condition as of today though I bought them in the 70's and 80's. Digitl camera are convenient and disposable. In fact I also use digital camera, my first digital camera was olympus 2megapix followed by canon 5megapix. but they were gone for the span of only of 2 years. The most important is you " the "eye behind the camera"

I kept my hobby as a photographer although I am three score less than five of your age. My profession aside from being a teacher in science, is making digital ID's and promoting ICT in my colleague teachers. I made automated grading system data bsse and government forms. My enthusiam in Photography does not slows down with time. I am still working and receiving orders from ouside. The best digital camera I suggest is the one that is made from Japan, Germany and Sweden. They are expensive but durable. China is also good but I doubt of their durability. Secondly, Be selfish with your digital camera. Make it as a fragile baby.

Hi Qwerty, The best for me is SONY T-200 touch screen. I bought it last year (from my 13th month, hehe!), it still functions as brand new. In every occasion I use it. I just bought 2 GIG memory for longer video capture as well. At work, it is usually what we use for infomercial, teasers for upcoming motivational activities, or other holidays and functions.

Of course most people would prefer cheaper camera, something about $200 is average I think. I just recently bought a Sony, the picture looks good but now I yearn for more, eying a D-SLR camera about $600 already, sigh. For beginners though, do not spend more than $200 on your first camera, you never know whether you like photography or not. Have the first camera, learn all the functions and methods to get the best shot, and invest in a better one when you have mastered photography.
