Yup, the whole thing is just a money grab by Congress and the President. It has nothing to do with fixing the economy... or anything else.

Because our own Senators and Representatives - the very elected officials that are supposed to represent the interests of the general population - are the same politicians that have approved these bailouts.

I agree with you 100%. SO why are the american citizens putting up with it? Why are we taking this lying down?

Well I know what I would do to them if I were in charge of things, but none of our politicians have the guts to do it. I would make them sell that new jet to the highest bidder, then I would make them pay back that bailout money immediately. Then I would make them ineligible for any financial aid in the future. Then I would leave them to "sink or swim". This is EXACTLY why I was against those bail-outs. I knew crap like this was going to happen. The corporate executives who run that company should be put in prison...

This is one of the reasons I am against these bailouts. They pass out this money without thinking. The money is spend in ways that do not benefit people.

They figure if it worked the first time, it will work again. It is a lot like people who are not really poor, just have mismanaged. They know what to say and what to do.

Most of them have proven to be only temporary bailouts and now these companies are coming back asking for more.

It seems like that is a lot of what the economic stimulus package is about as well - other than a few minimal tax cuts, nothing is going to those who need it.

I am just not surprised any more. Plain and simple, these banks are crooked as are the politicians that keep giving them our money! This is where the campaign money comes from

Yes, and I don't see anything different happening during this administration. The economic stimulus plan that has been presented is laughable and stands to boost the economy about as much as these bailouts.

That is why this bail out money should be going to the working people, (even it if is in the form of tax cuts) and NOT the people that got us into this mess in the first place. That is why these bails out are not going to help the economy. You have to have the working man spend the money in order for the money to do any good to the economy. Just one huge corporation having the money to spend as they choose is not going to solve any problems. Give it to the american people so they can pay atheir bills and buy things they need, and then you will see a recovery from this recessions. Until then,, we will flounder in this depression until the country is no more.

I totally agree - none of this bailout money is going to "trickle down" to the working class - it will all stay with big business and do nothing to boost the economy.

Well, now to be fair - we will get a tax cut on our paychecks - those that are still employed - and we will get an extra $80 a month for about 6-8 months... what are you gong to buy with your big wind fall!??!?!?! Thanks for the BR... means more to me than the tax cut!

The new administration (i.e. Obama) was one of the Senators who voted for the bailouts!

I know but I am hoping that they are saying, "Hey, this is not what you were supposed to do with this money!!" UGH. I never was for the bailouts in the first place. Like any other business, you screw up, you fail, you close. The barn door was left open, now go and bring them back.

Gee..and people wonder why I am not in favor of the bail outs. Yet our elected officals just keep handing it out like candy...at our exspense. Throwing good money after bad. Now they are talking about another round of bail outs. It did not work the first time..it will not work a second time. When will they learn? "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. " Albert Einstein I say according to this defination by Albert Einstein that our elected officials are insane.

You are so right! I would like to know of anyone that has seen anything positive happening in the American working class that has resulted from these bailouts.

This is the bailout that Bush pushed through with no oversight. This purchase should be blocked, the CEO should be fired and any bail out monies should be withheld from this bank. If I had any money in this bank it would be withdrawn immediately.

Do you suppose I should say to them next time they send me a credit card bill, "I'll pay you back after you pay me back"?
