My dad used to use a towel across tyhe towel rack to pull himself up from the toilet. That is untiul her finally broke it from his 200+ pounds pulling on it. It snapped and I was not pleased. Not mad, just upset as I kept telling him to use his muscles. So my son-in-law this weekend came out and installed two grab rails for his convienence. Dad of course paid fpor the parts etc as well. One by the toilet and one in the shower for ease in getting in and out of the toilet. I told dad if he breaks either of these he will be paying for a total bathroom make over. Have you ever broken a rail or towel rack from pulling yourself up off the toilet?

Well, I have had one break on my while trying to get up, and that was back when I was having problems with the chronic wounds on my Leg and it was harder to get up and down. Since then we have also replaced a few things and everything seems to be a lot better. Just glad he did not hurt himself when he did this as well.

I'm glad he did not get hurt as well.
The bars work a lot better than a towel rack that's for sure.

Nope, but one day I went to hang towels and the rack fell down. Its good to check on how secure they are because if I had been trying to hold on, I would have fell and hit my head....so I am checking all of them. I also have the safety racks for the tub....good to have but check often for security...

Dad is so lazy and that is why the rack broke to start with.
But he pays for things he breaks that way.
Any other ordinary useage etc he doesn't pay for.

My dad was handicapped as well before he passed away in 2006. He had problems going to the bathroom as well. I was not the richest person in the world but where I lived at said they would railings but they never did. They are a nice to thing to have when someone you love cannot do daily activies. I hope someday when someone need help with these kind of things that people would be more than willing to help those in need with daily life. Happy mylotting and have a great day online as well!
