Can you Cook?

Are you the better cook or is your partner/spouse? Before we even moved in together, my husband was warned by my family that I couldn't cook, not even water or something out of a can. He thought at first they were kidding, but figured out really fast that it was true, I couldn't cook to save my own life! I can and always could bake, but cooking was another matter. Slowly over the 20+ years we've been married, Ive gotten better, but still hate cooking and am not very good at it. My kids prefer it when he cooks with very few exceptions. And he hates to cook. The weirdest part is that the things they like me to cook are all things I can't eat due to allergies. So my questions are: Can you cook? Are you good at it? Is your partner or spouse better at it than you? Do you have a specialty item that you make that everyone likes? (Mine is Clam Chowder) Why don't most men like to cook?

I can cook but I don't consider myself a good cook though. I would just say that I am an average cook. Thous I would say that my fiance is a better cook than I am since he attended a culinary school. I don't really have a specialty I just cook anything that comes out of my head when I feel like cooking. What is important I think is what I cook is edible. LOL.

I am not married and also can´t cook. The thing I do that everybody loves is popcorn... hhahaha. I am great at it. Normally to prepare an egg or something simple I can do, or even when I get a recipy I do it ok. I can do it good but I don´t really like or really know how to cook.

yes i can cook. i can say i am good and i have my own specialty. As to my spouse' ability to cook, i am just not sure about it but i know he knows too. Everyday i do the cooking for him. My specialty is chicken ala king and siomai. I am not sure why most men prefer not to cook maybe because they thought its feminine or they have no time? I know most men who knew how to cook are better than some women. lol.

Yes, I can cook a little. I love trying new recipes that I just saw on tv. Sometimes I modify it. I am not saying I am a great cook though, I just can a little.

This sounds all to familiar. When my husband and I got married I actually burnt water (yes this is possible - it actually dehydrates). Now Years later I am a fairly decent cook. When it comes to baking, that is my territory. Cooking meals my husband and I rotate depending on what we are eating. He is excellent at cooking the steaks, chicken, or pork chops where I am in charge of all other dishes. I think when it comes to cooking that everyone has something they are good at making. Mine is bean soup with ham and onions mixed into it along with corn bread on the side. I cant speak for most men but when it comes to my husband he doesn't like to cook since he feels it is the women's domain.

yes, i can cook even though i am not really a very good cook... my hubby doesn't know how to cook... so he leaves the cooking job entirely to me and i have to fox him breakfast, lunch and dinner every single day... it is a bit tiring... but it is OK... i get used to it after some times now... in fact, i enjoy cooking... it releases my stress... take care and have a nice day...

I am not a bad cook by no means but my ex-husband could not cook anything. In 13 years he cooked me one meal and that was from a jar and he had to ring my mum to ask her how to do it cos he could not ask me as I was out and he wanted it to be a surprise. But safe to say my new man CAN COOK, oh my god can he, absolutly fabulous. It is such a great thing to have been cooking for the ex for 13 years and now my new man takes care of me and he loves doing it. Being that he is Chilean he cooks the most tasty food ever.

Ummm...........my husband says he can cook but so far he has cooked Tuna rice with the rice cooker only so I have not tasted any other food from him. But I am sure he is a good cook as he is a very detail and precise person when doing things. I do the cooking at home. I don't hate cooking and neither do I really like cooking. I cook because it is much much more healthy and cheaper to eat at home. I only started cooking after we got married and I discovered I am a good cook - so says my husband. My specialty which he likes is spaghetti bolognese.

I'm better cook than my partner.. since hubby's working on a graveyard shift, i'm in charge of the household chores(cleaning, cooking, etc).. I'm very passionate about cooking, maybe i've got the genes from my mom.. I must admit that i'm not as good as my mom but i'm very much willing to be trained.. i have this thought of enroling myself to a culinary school and i hope my time, health and budget allows me to do so..

I don't knoe how to cook either as I was a working student so no time for me to to touch the kitchen works. When I got married however I learned some recipes from friends just to prepare something on special occassion like birthdays and christmas. I can't cook however at home as I am working. My niece or my mom do the cooking. My husband never cooked as he's busy too. he would rather buy cooked, ready to eat food in going home. When I rested at home, however I do all the cooking and I felt am a better cook. One thing I regret my husband passed away already when I can do all the cooking. I could have prepare all the food, he wanted. He could have tasted and see how I improve in cooking. My children love very much my chicken or pork adobo, same with chicken curry and veggies with coconut milk and most especially my chicken macaroni salad.

Yes I can cook. And I can make tasty meals. But I think my hubby is the better cook. He enjoys it. And one of the things he likes is presentation. Not only does what he makes taste good, it looks like it could be in a magazine most of the time.

Yeah i can cook, but not a very good cook. I am still experimenting some kind of dishes and try to improve my cooking. But my spouse is better than me in terms of cooking thier own food (English food) coz he study and trained as a caterer. My specialty is more on filipino foods. That's why when cooking my own food it taste nice coz i've been cooking it for a long time which my grandma taught me. Happy posting.

Hands down my husband is a better cook then me. I make anything that's microwave lol but one thing my hubby said is that I sure know how to make pre-made foods seems as if I cooked them myself from scratch. I everyone likes when I cook mac and cheese because I had the pre-made roast beef and I add can dice tomatoes and I let that seamer. and imitation crab meat with rice. Am slowly getting better at cooking but I so rather my hubby cooks lol that's so messed the everyone like the food your allergic to

To be honest, I have no idea how to cook (except maybe for fried dishes and cooking rice). At least on fried dishes, I had some improvements like not burning the food, etc. But having a specialty? Not yet. I am not quite fond of cooking as well so it might take some time before I learn a dish or two. My partner knows and well aware in cooking, I already told it to her and she's fine with it. About men, maybe they just put it in their mind that cooking is a woman's job, therefore having a man to cook might lower down their manly hood.

I do ALL the cooking for our family. I'm sure my husband could cook if he needed to, but I don't think he knows how to cook many different dishes. Also, he works 5 days and week and I only work two, so I'm usually the only one who cooks dinner. Of course, I don't cook on the days that I work because I work 12 hour days. On those days, he usually fends for himself or he goes over to his mother's house (he's such a mama's boy, that's a whole new discussion, though)!
