Well, I had let my hair grow out to the point I could not let it go any longer. My husband said I could go get it cut when we get the money. Well, every time we get the money we need it for something else. So, I cut my own hair. My daughter and husband say's I look like I have Joe Dirt's haircut. Well, I tried. I guess I will have to go get it cut now or my husband will just have to be seen with his wife Mrs. Dirt! Ha ha Have you ever cut your own hair? How did it look after wards? Where you upset? Did you ever color or perm your own hair? I colored mine once and it turned out just the way I want it.

I color my own hair from time to time. It works out most of the time too. I switch between brown/dark brown and black. I color it mainly to cover my greys.
I haven't done anything to my hair for a long time and it's grown very long. I have been trying to save up for a proper hair cut/trim and style but haven't quite got their yet. I'm hoping my hubby will allow me to get it cut and styled on my birthday next month :)

i've made the mistake of cutting AND coloring my own hair... bad idea on my part! so many people have the knack for doing their own hair, but i definitely do not! i ended up with bangs from the 80s and a purplish hue-to my brunette locks! it was awful... the color faded relatively quickly (thank goodness) but i had to deal with waiting for the bangs to grow out for far longer than i would've liked!

i never dare to cut my own hair nor color it... i always go to the salon to get it done because i'm not confident enough to do it myself... and i never perm my hair as well... i love my straight hair as it is... take care and have a nice day...

I think we've all done the bad hair cut thing...hopefully learned from it. I don't have money to get my hair cut either. I keep an envelope labled....hair cuts. In that envelope I will throw any spare money that I have...it may be 1.00 or even .50. Eventually it adds up. Good luck with this, mrs.dirt!

Thank heaven I have a good friend with a cosmotology license. She cuts mine for free. If it weren't for that I don't know what I would do. Hair cuts are so expensive! Especially for a good one. I do color my own hair and have never been disappointed with the results. It took a few applications to get my hair the color I wanted it (I was going from a medium brown to blonde) but after about the 3rd time I got it as light as I wanted it.
I used to cut my own bangs, but now I don't have bangs anymore so I don't have to worry about that.
So to look like Joe Dirt, what did you do exactly? Cut your hair in the world's worst mullet? j/k =)

Hi Carpathian,
I have tried cutting my own hair when I was 15 years old..LOL! I wanted a bangs that time and I just experiment and I didn't like it! LOL!
This time, I let it grow also and will have a trim every 5 months....I am also thinking about the payment so, it's best this way! LOL!

i really have long hair for some time but the growth has been becoming a nightmare, it was all over the place. i just gave myself a trim. maybe around 2-3inches which is still quite a lot. but then my hair is up to almost my waist.
i still have layers so it didn't look like i cut it myself. lol!
i asked my husband to color my hair on the roots. my highlights were "going down" my hair so to speak. it looked ok. although maybe next time i'd get a lighter color.
i also learned to cut my husband's hair. it's the messy guy hair anyway which he prefers. i just cut little by little and ask for his opinion. i just messed up once. and it was the first time. he wasn't mad at me though. we kinda laughed at it.

I've cut, dyed, bleached and generally abused my hair. LOL
My hair is fine but there's a lot of it. I prefer going to the salon and getting a razor cut but the person I used quit and I'm reluctant to let anyone else try.
Whenever someone mentions haircuts I'm reminded of my son's when he was four. He did the front and his sister did the back. With my kitchen shears.

LOL, you are so funny my friend. I have tried cutting my own bangs but that was when I was a bit younger and the result wasn't that nice. LOL. It was too short that it is standing instead of being flat on my forehead. LOL. I remember I have to wear A headband until i grow longer. i have colored my hair as well but it wasn't a disaster though. But I remember is my friend cutting her hair when we were in college and it really looks awful. i remember one of our guy classmate asked me what had happen to her hair. LOL. I can still remember the embarrassment in my friends face. We have to see my mom to have her hair fixed in between classes. LOL

I always cut my own hair. I did cut it really short one time, and went to the salon to have it touched up some. I have had it cut really short twice. Now I just do a trim myself rather than go to have it done.
My husband needs a haircut, and just like you, we are waiting to get the extra money for it, of the the extra money never comes. The car had to get fixed, he got a parking ticket, etc. etc.
So I guess pretty soon he will be looking like the wolf man, so I guess I will have to be seen with the wolf man

Hi. I bet you are like my wife she worry to mush about what every one else thinks.I am sure you beautiful. As for me i only have hair around the sides of my head. the top has none.when i am on the road, i always cut my own hair. when you you don't have a lot it is easy and i keep it short anyway. when i am at home my wife cuts it. when i was in the navy, i had a friend that tried to color his own hair, it turn an off purple. my wife had to fix it for him.

Well i have been colouring my own hair for the past 10 years or so.
with hair salons charging over the odds for colouring, highlights etc i started to do my own. The first attempt was not so clever, i was left with pieces of hair that hadnt coloured properly i had more dye on my face than on my hair!!
but i stuck with it and now i do it every 6-8 weeks.
i also had a go at cutting my fringe once never ever again.... so i have my hair cut by someone who knows what their doing!!!
My daughter when she was 7 cut her hair, two days before the school pictures were being taken... im sure other parents thought that i'd done it, my daughter was getting a lot of sympathetic looks, as if to say "what was your mother thinking"
but hey, these things happen...

I have cut my own hair for years. I started doing it after my husband and I were divorced. I couldn't afford to go to a hairdresser and not only that but they never seemed to get it the way the way that I wanted it. I knew exactly what I wanted and set out to have it look that way. I succeeded. It wasn't until just a few months ago that I finally went to a hairdresser for the first time. But guess what? After several months, it looks exactly the same way as it did before. LOL.

I've cut my hair a few times, and it didn't turn out too bad, but I prefer to spend a few dollars to get it professionally trimmed. I never really style it much or anything, I'm pretty plain.
I have colored my hair numerous times and it usually turns out great -- except once or twice when I missed a few areas!! LMAO

i dont cut my own hair, or else it will turn into uneven cuts, i can apply color to it, but never to cut it. Its good if u visit salon for the cut, some professionals tell what is good for your face, and so the treatment good for the types of hair. :) but you are short in you budget just let your neighbor do the cutting and treat her coffee or drinks :Phehehhehe
