What Is One Of Your Favorite Comfort Foods When You Are.....

.......Sick? Feeling like do-do ca-ca poo-poo? For about a week now I just haven't been feeling too keen...uh, to put it mildly. I've been having one of my bouts of bronchitis again...not too severe but still making me feel lousy. My energy level has been zip, can't think, having serious brain fog. As soon as I started feeling lousy and getting that twinge of bronchitis I started taking a bit more of that herb Echinacea, more Vit-C and dosing myself with garlic pills since garlic is a natural antibiotic. I still haven't gone to my docs since I have to practically be at death's door before going to one....LOL....also have that same attitude my great-grandmother had who was a nurse and thought all docs as idiots, never took anything stronger than aspirin in her life, was into natural remedies and lived to be 98 But I have noticed something when I'm sick....now yes, I'm a good cook, love cooking and can make a lot of great homemade soups...and do while I'm sick...but what do I long for and eat a lot of while sick? My favorite comfort food..what is it you ask? Good old Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup---I could eat this by the gallon ...Yes, it's a "processed" canned food, loaded with salt, salt, salt, and yes it has MSG (mono sodium glutamate)..but I love it...this is definitely my comfort food when I'm sick...perhaps memories of my childhood as that's what I would have when I was sick as a kid. So when you're sick...what is YOUR comfort food? Even if it's something that may not exactly be the healthiest for you like a processed food rather than a homemade one. Do you turn to good old Campbell's soup too? Doesn't have to be the Chicken Noodle kind either, but do you? Just what is it about that Campbell's Chicken Noodle soup anyway? Mmmm...mmm...good...mmmm..mmmm...good

I don't trust doctors so I wouldn't go to one unless I am sure I am to die. When I am sick, I have not appetite.when I have a cold, the first thing that happens is my throat gets real sore. So the best thing to have is soup.I remember having Chunky soup, chicken noodle. But most of the time I don't eat, I just sip soda.

I'm not real big on doctors either...but still have this "bug" in me and now wondering if I really need to go to my doc to at least get some antibiotics to zap it...

Hello Sweet It really depends on what kind of sick I am I don't tend to go toward food for comfort. If I have a cold or flu I do like hot soup I pop alot of vit c also. Teas are nice when I'm tired, down, etc cold or hot..I do drink more cold teas. xoxoxoxoo

I like the Campbell's chicken and rice soup a lot but also like many other kinds of soup. When my youngest daughter was sick when younger and still to this day if she is not feeling good her miracle cure all is chicken pot pie. I hope you get to feeling better real soon.

Mine is macaroni noodles cooked till tender, drained, then I pour tomatoes over them. I puree the tomatoes, since they come cut in half. No extras in the tomatoes, like diced chili peppers or such. Just straight tomato juice with pulp. My grandpa made it for me when I got sick, so it's my thing even now.

Soups are always a good thing. It helps to make the stuff loosen up in you. Also I have had my husband or grandchildren to pound on my upper back to help loosen up the congestion in my lungs. I get that really badly. I will get worse if I'm not real careful. I have bad breathing probleming so I get sick easily. I just try to catch it as soon as I get sick and use that stuff the teacher invented to lessen the time and severerity of the sickness. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

I believe it's called Air-Borne as he deals with all of the children in classes coming in with colds and being sick. He is a biology teacher and came up with this to use to stop how severe a cold or flu is and it drops the time to half of the time being sick. It does work the key is to use it at the first onset of knowing you are getting sick. I have a couple of different one sin the cabinet.

pye since you are so sick if you have or can get your hands on a vicks vaporizer, mister ...the one you put medicine in like vicks vaporizer medicine in. Fix up a tent over your bed and out that under it on a table next to your bed. Stay there letting that break up the congestion and the medicine go into your body. this is what my husband and son do for me when I am sick like that. It really does help. Also take your medicines(herbs) that you have been, don't stop them as it may shock your body to abruptly stop something that will help you.

cream of chicken with garlic, onion and some red pepper added. something about those three spices always makes me feel better. of course with a sore throat,i'd skip the pepper.maybe add a bit of basil instead.

I like lot's of green tea when I'm sick. I'm to lazy to cook so I want only instant no fuss foods. If my mommy was close I would love her to make homemade noodle soup, but she lives in a different country, so I can't have her take care of me like when I was a kid. I may make some powdered soup. We have some really good store brand onion, mushroom soups that come in a big canister. The mushroom is out of this world. They use high quality mushrooms and it's really good. They are almost as good as home made. I will sometimes add a few more onions or mushrooms to them if I'm not super sick. Or if I'm really sick I will use the powdered chicken soup and add a handful of pasta. Gotta have my pasta I'm rarely sick. Maybe it's all the garlic I eat. LOL It could be my OCD on hand washing that keeps me healthy. It's likely that's why. I ALWAYS, wash my hands first thing when I come home. I also won't eat foods touched by others if they didn't wash their hands first. I always wash or use sanitizer before I eat. I never touch any bodily orifices when I'm outside of he house. It's so easy to get sick just by rubbing your eyes if you have germs on your hands.

hi there, I been sick many a times in life and i dont like being sick... This is going to sound weird, but when I feel sick, I alwayws want fried potatoes and fried chicken. Seeing as this is not healthy, I haven't had that in years. But boy do I want it when I'm sick. I really wish I had healthy cravings. Although usually, if I have had the throw up kind of flu, I always want oranges.

Must be the salt and fat... when I'm feeling greenish, I crave potato chips... But if I'm really sick (not that often) all I can handle is tea and oranges.

When you are sick calories, low fat, healthy...who cares? I love cooked pasta with butter and parmesan cheese; nothing else, no sauce, nothing just heaps of butter and cheese. It is a real comfort food from childhood. I'm sure it is very bad for you all that butter but I really love it and so does m daughter.
